Crescent H Cabin
Tall Pines stand sentry at Crescent H Cabin, a secluded, jewel-like log home on 35 private acres, with wide-open views of the Snake River Valley and the snowy peaks of the Gros Ventre Range. The Cabin’s long, tree-lined drive curves through pastures, sage-covered hills and stands of lodge pole pines, all part of historic Crescent H Ranch land.
Crescent H Cabin is a perfect house for honeymooners, a small family, or perhaps a writer on retreat. With its thick, golden log walls, single-storey layout and luminous artwork, it has a warm and peaceful atmosphere. It is a classic home on the Western range, and full of surprising and simple luxuries. The front door opens to the kitchen, tiled in stone the subtle shades of Wyoming rock. The kitchen invites convivial cooking and conversation, with high-quality appliances and handmade wood cabinets stocked with a full complement of dishes, glasses and cookware. The dining table is set in a separate dining area, under a large, vibrant contemporary painting in oil.
A high-ceilinged Great Room forms the center of the house, and two quiet bedrooms, a fire-lit study, and a stone deck unfold from there. The heart of this Great Room is a beautiful stacked stone fireplace that rises to the ceiling; custom glass and cast iron doors contain the fire yet let light and warmth flood the room. Two soft leather couches face each other across a low table. High windows hold tremendous views of the wild landscape outside.
The two bedrooms are intimate and comfortable, with queen beds, ample clothes storage, and flat screen televisions of their own. Drapes can be pulled across the wide mullioned windows; reading lamps stand by the bedsides. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, tiled in stone, with deep tubs fitted with showerheads.
It’s tempting to park the car in the Crescent H Cabin’s garage and retreat inside, but outside is a wonderland. Rolling meadows carpeted in wildflowers, the Grand Teton, Gros Ventre and Sleeping Indian ranges holding up the sky, and hundreds of miles of hiking, skiing, horseback riding and snowshoeing trails accessible directly from Crescent H property. There is world-class, guided fly-fishing in blue ribbon spring creeks and the Snake River, and Jackson Hole’s storied resorts are minutes away. Crescent H Cabin is a haven; quiet, secluded and close to all the amenities and adventures of Jackson.
