Los Almendros is a beachfront development on Playa Ocotal; a well protected 1/3 mile long beach with black sand at one end and white sand on the other. Playa Ocotal is a clean, safe, beautiful beach. Its protected shoreline provides guests a quiet, peaceful place to swim, snorkel and relax.
Los Almendros is beautifully landscaped with three swimming pools, two outdoor barbecues, and a rancho that is perfect for watching the spectacular sunsets. There are 24-hour security guards and the front office staff will be glad to answer any questions and help arrange activities in the area. This modern, secure, gated community has 43 units.
Our unit, #11 has an breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean from the back deck and the front door is just steps away from the pool. It is equipped with cable television, a DVD player, telephone and cable modem if you have a laptop. Free internet is available in the Reception area (Desk top & Wi-Fi). We also provide an extensive collection of DVDs and CDs.
Our condo has a full kitchen with dishes and utensils so you can prepare your own meals if you like. However, there are also a couple of restaurants within walking distance and many more just a short drive away. The popular Father Rooster's restaurant on the beach next door serves great food and drinks in a casual atmosphere. There are grocery stores, banks, restaurants and gift shops in the town of Coco, a $5 taxi ride away.
You can go to sleep to the sound of the waves on the beach in the master bedroom, which has a queen bed, private bathroom, and access to the rear deck. The deck is a quiet, peaceful place to watch birds, butterflies, iguanas and other Guanacaste wildlife. There is a second bedroom with two twin beds and a second bathroom. All linens are provided. Laundry service is available, or you may use our washing machine and dryer upon request. There are separately controlled air conditioners and ceiling fans in each room.
As members of the Papagayo Golf & Country Club, we can offer reduced rates at the challenging 18-hole golf course located 20 minutes from Los Almendros. You can take day trips to experience Costa Rica or have a fun evening in town and then return to relax at Los Almendros. This is the perfect place for a family vacation.

Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2002
The owners are Gordy and Carol Lee. We were both born and raised in Alaska. We bought the condo in Los Almendros in 2002. We came on vacation a couple of weeks a year and rented it out so others could enjoy our little piece of paradise. After retirement, Carol lived in the condo while we built a house on the Papagayo Golf Course about 20 minutes away. We moved into our new home in July 2008 and enjoy our new life in Costa Rica.
Why the Owner Chose Ocotal
We came to Costa Rica on a three week vacation. We traveled around the country for a week and then our travel agent had booked us into the Ocotal Hotel for the last two weeks. We are both certified scuba divers and the hotel has a dive shop on Playa Ocotal. We had no intention of buying property when we arrived in Costa Rica. However, we met a realtor who showed us several condominiums, but Los Almendros was the only property that was right on the beach. The others had great ocean views but it was a long hike to the beach. Our condo was under construction when we saw it, and we spent the rest of our vacation learning about buying property in Costa Rica. We still haven't gone scuba diving!
The Unique Benefits of this Condominium
I enjoy waking up in the morning and walking the beach as the fishermen and dive boats head out for the day. I have a cup of coffee as I sit on the deck taking pictures of the parrots in the trees with the sounds of families enjoying themselves on the beach below. We enjoy playing a game of Bocce Ball on the beach and inviting friends to the condo for a BBQ and pool party in the afternoon. Then we watch the sunset from our deck as the day comes to a close. We fall asleep to the sound of the waves on the beach and dream of living here full time.
