Short distance to the Tule River for fishing and our local general store, bar & cafe. Walking distance as well to the meadow where local events take place during the summer. Short drive to the Stagg tree, Trail of a Hundred Giants and pack station for packing into the back country. Walking distance to trails for hiking and mountain biking. Serene and quiet for reading a book or just resting.

Mia Gyzander, Costume Designer/Business Owner
Originally from, Stockholm, Sweden, Mia earned a business degree before moving on to fashion design, patterning, draping and tailoring. She worked as a Fashion Designer traveling the world for production follow-up for several years before moving to the US in 1993 to pursue Costume Design. She earned a degree in theatrical costuming and started working in the entertainment industry as a freelance designer. In 1996 she started her business, working out of her apartment doing everything from patterning to sewing herself. Over the years the business has grown in to a corporation currently having up to 30 employees.
Why the Owner Chose Camp Nelson
I became the proud owner to this property in March 2008.
I used to travel every year somewhere I the world for vacation but as my business grew, it became more and more difficult to get away for more than a week. I started looking in to getting a vacation home to have easier access for quick getaways. Real estate prices close to Los Angeles are out of proportion so I searched for areas further away. I remember camping in the Sequoias many years ago and looked in to the area and found Camp Nelson.
The first summer here (2008) I spent most of my time working on turning the garage in to a guesthouse. The main house and property also needed a lot of TLC. The summer -09, I enjoyed the amazing surroundings and nature of the area. There are numerous trails for hiking with stunning natures and views. I have collected tourist information in a binder that is available in the Guesthouse.
For next summer -10, my guests will have a large patio in the back of the house for entertainment and relaxing.
