Tin Mill Cottage is located just off Old Hill City Road on a quiet wooded lot. View deer and turkey from the deck. Enjoy your coffee in the morning or evening gatherings on the deck or in the HOT TUB made private by the wooded lots adjoining. Tin Mill Cottage is conveniently located on a hillside overlooking the town of Hill City, just a few minutes walk to the downtown area. Tin Mill Cottage is a short walk to nearby Major Lake for fishing.
Newly remodeled in 2008, this has become a favorite cabin for families seeking an affordable stay in the Black Hills. The two bedrooms with queen beds each and a futon in the living room with a fireplace accommodates 6 comfortably. There is one bathroom with tub and shower, laundry, AC wall units and cable TV as well as wireless internet access. The fully furnished kitchen (with dishwasher) and gas grill on the deck helps keep your vacation affordable by allowing meals to be made "at home". However, there are many nearby restaurants for those who are "truly on vacation"!
A car port affords shaded parking for two vehicles.

We are Vacation Home and Cabin managers with Heart of the Hills Vacation Homes in Hill City. We own several of the cabins on our roster including this cabin and have 3 of our personally owned cabins listed with VRBO.
Why the Owner Chose Hill City
This property is located contingent to our personal home property and by buying it, we were able to protect our home property from developers who would sub divide in to small tracts and lots of houses!

Great spot on a hill above town

We recently stayed here for 4 nights and it was fantastic! We loved the fireplace, hot tub and deck. It was the perfect spot for staying in the Black Hills and the cabin (house really!) gave us the convienience of staying at home to cook most of the time, but there are also great places to eat close by. The grocery store was just down the hill and they had a good selection of food. The internet allowed me to catch up on some work things and the staff was awsome to work with when we had trouble with the service. It was quiet, comfortable and warm. One night while grilling, a doe and her two yearling fawns came down the hill to visit us! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We loved our stay at the Tin Mil Cottage it made us feel just like we were at home. It was nice to be able to make breakfast before our busy day of sightseeing. The beds were all comfortable and the whole cottage was very clean. The only suggestion I would have is to have grip bars to get in and out of the tub/shower. The sides of the tub are quite high and being short and not to flexible I was a little nervous getting in and out. Thank you for having such a comfortable and clean vacation home.

This is conveniently located near Hill City's downtown, yet secluded enough that three deer , five turkeys and a bunny roam the lawn. The place was quiet and clean, had WiFi, and a great hot tub which was appreciated after a six mile hike up Harney Peak . As a fellow VRBO member, I can vouch that this two bedroom ranch is a great escape from a busy day of driving and seeing the sights. It was an A+. Steve McCausland -- Brunswick Maine

Had an enjoyable stay at the Tin Mill Cabin. Very comfortable, clean and spacious. this is much nicer than staying in 1 room at a hotel...especially for several nights. Its great to return to a comfortable home after a day of sightseeing. The cabin is in a great location...close to Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Rapid City. We will definitely stay here again. We usually visit Hill City about once a year.
