Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2008
My husband and I are retired, he an electrician, me an artist. We are Wisconsin residents and Port Orford, OR is our winter home due to the fact that all of our children and grandchildren are on the west coast.
Why the Owner Chose Port Orford
We used to live in Grants Pass, OR, and found the coast to be an enjoyable place to visit. Port Orford is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of larger communities yet close enough to drive to Coos Bay / North Bend where there is shopping and an airport.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
We have city amenities yet are on a quiet wooded cul-de-sac. Lake and ocean views are beautiful and relaxing. Neighbors are friendly.

We spent a wonderful week in this cottage. The pictures do not do it justice. I was in love as soon as I walked in the door!!! Perfect Location for traveling up and down the coast. During the week we went Elk Viewing in Reedsport, Botanical Gardens in Charleston, Wild Park Safari near Bandon, Horse back riding on Bandon Beach, Jerry Jet Boats on Rogue River, and Trees of Mystery in Northern California. Clam Chowder at Tony's Crab Shack in Bandon is a must :-). On one of the last days there were deer in the back yard. Born and raised in Las Vegas I have never seen anything like that, I must have taken a million pictures. I would highly recommend this cottage, it is clean and well kept. Not much nightlife in Port Orford, but after sight seeing all day it was nice to rent movies from the Fun Zone in town and curl up on the couch with a glass of wine.

The Garrison Lake Cottage is a wonderful little home! The description should also include how much awesome bird watching can be done from the house and yard. The house is modern, yet very comfortable and cozy. We had a great time!

Absolutely loved staying at the cottage!! Just returned from Port Orford and would highly recommend this place to anyone going out there. Very clean, spectacular views, within walking distance to the beach. Took so many wonderful pictures of the sunset over the ocean right from the backyard. Only a few minutes from town. Drove down to Gold Beach and up to North Bend, so cottage is close to other places also. Also drove down to California to see the Redwoods. So many beaches along the coast to stop at - each one so different. Definately eat at the Crazy Norwegian in town, and stop at Ed's shop Time Worn Treasures by Battle Rock to purchase authentic glass floats. The locals are wonderful and so friendly. Many wonderful memories from this trip!
