City bus routes are just around the corner, so you can get around easily without a rental car in all of the central Austin area. Or you could rent a bike instead of a car -- most things are in easy biking distance
Tons of fun stuff to do within about 2 miles --- music, restaurants, shopping, hike and bike trails, strolling around Town Lake, bat-watching from the Congress Bridge, swimming at Barton Springs, local theater, art galleries.
