Beautiful setting, lovely home, furnished to reflect the period and location. Minutes from the village and unobtrusive fencing means we could include our blind little dog, who loved it. Going back there ASAP--can cook in. go out, laze around on the beautiful patios or go to Pt. Lobos or the beach. We have been coming to Carmel for some time now and this is definitely the most satisfying place we have stayed. Felt at home as soon as we pulled into the driveway. Were tempted to email the owners ":hand over the deed now and no one gets hurt"--but we knew that was only in our dreams.

More then expected, this is a very quaint and charming cottage. The most enjoyable part to me and my dogs was the outdoor area, what a wonderful setting so peaceful and relaxing. Definitely would recommend anyone looking for a time away from the big city to take a close look at this place.

The Vintage Oaks Cottage was sweet place to stay for 4 nights. Secluded and private. The place is almost at the end of a side canyon in Carmel Valley. Big screen and Direct TV but we never turned it on. We just read books or sat in the sun in between cloud bursts. The garden is easy care succulents and Wisteria that runs along the front fence just ready to bloom. the garden is filled with many, many "garden ornaments" hiding everywhere. Inside is outfitted with "old west" collectables. There is a full kitchen but we just did breakfast and sandwiches for lunch. If you are looking for big and fancy look somewhere else -- This is a quaint, comfortable, and enjoyable little place to stay when you just need to get away. The price per night made this an easy stay.

A serene and lovely retreat from the more touristy Carmel. Loved the more rustic nature of Carmel Valley, especially Garland Ranch. My husband, dog and I went almost every morning to energize with a hike (all 3 of us) and relax and tire out (the dog). Also loved the quiet garden spots and appreciated the artistic touches throughout the cottage. Saying this cottage is charming does not say enough.

The Vintage Oaks Cottage is as charming as advertised, and then some. We enjoyed our stay (8 nights), relaxed, slept very well on the comfortable bed, and took advantage of the owner's suggestions of places to visit and eat. The cottage is rustic in decor, but functions well (washer/dryer on site, heater keeps the place nice and cozy) and is set on a truly lovely, private piece of property. If you are eager to just relax, read, sit in the sun and unwind, this is the spot for you!

Having stayed at Vintage Oaks Cottage for five weeks, my wife and I (and Aussie, Ajax) recommend it to anyone seeking a well maintained, attractive brick vacation home. The beautiful garden is a real plus as part of a property on a quiet road next to a stream. The owners, Pamela and Bruce, are accessible and will assure that your needs are their priority. The proximity to Garland Ranch and the nearby Carmel Valley Community Park, both allowing off-leash walks with Ajax, the charm and excellent restaurants in the Village of Carmel Valley, and the genuinely friendly people will help make your visit special. We will return next year. Rolf Zerges, Ph.D Keuka Park, New York

This property is down in the canyon of Carmel Valley, lots of privacy amidst the neighborhood, beautiful vegetation in area and in the garden. The cottage is cowboy/antiques/collectibles that can entertain you just to check it all out! The garden is a succulent paradise and again with many funky collectibles. It is fenced in which was great for our dog to lounge around without escaping!!!!!! And so close to Carmel, Big Sur, Nepenthe's and beautiful beaches everywhere. The owner and caretaker were very helpful and available for questions.

My wife and I stayed in the cottage for 3 days this past week, and I must say, wow, wow, wow! What a wonderful mini-vacation. This cottage is perfect for a couple wanting to "get away from it all", as it is definitely located on a quiet road, yet very handy to Carmel Valley village (just a couple of minutes away). The cottage is not huge, but is very well designed and just feels right. This is no cookie-cutter tract home. The owners have done a terrific job decorating the cottage in an "old west" theme, with lots of great lamps and furniture that made us want to just sit and read (or surf the web--wifi was very fast). But we were surprised at how much time we spent just staring at the fire in the wonderful fireplace! The fireplace really added to the inviting ambience of the place. The kitchen, while small, has everything you need; my wife cooked a couple of great meals with no problem. The front and back yards are beautiful, peaceful, and private. We have stayed at several VRBO homes over the years, but we've never been more impressed than with this one. We definitely plan to come back again.

Vintage Oaks was our next to last stay after 10 months of VRBO'ing it around the US and Canada. The house is just right on the inside and the location in the village of Carmel Valley is perfect. But the best thing about Vintage Oaks is the outdoor living space. It is truly a paradise of seclusion, surrounded by gardens and hillside and stillness. We look forward to coming back!!!

We have stayed 3 nights over the beautiful weekend in April and couldn't have been happier. The place had everything we needed plus a splendid outdoor space. The surrounding area was so beautiful with the sound of creek, beautiful spring flowers, big trees, and the birds. I even took a little bicycle ride from the house to charming town of Carmel Valley. A few minutes drive down the house will take you to very charming Carmel Valley downtown where you could do a little shopping, dining, wine tasting etc. This place was so perfect since we always look for a quiet place with great outdoor space. We absolutely loved the place and would love to come back again and again and again! Thank you!!

We stayed at the Vintage Oaks Cottage the second week in January. "We" being my husband, myself and our dog, Maggie. We have stayed in a number of VRBO properties and our experience has been positive. The Vintage Oaks Cottage is very special. The description is accurate. The pictures really don't do it justice......even though this is a one bedroom, den....it seems larger. The garden surrounds the house on three sides. Even in January it was lovely, peaceful and private. Maggie enjoyed her completely fenced in yard-away-from-home. The owners are quick to respond to any and all questions and/or concerns.

I should have written this review long ago...We visited Vintage Oaks Cottage in September of 2010. Not only did we fall in love with Carmel Valley, but with Vintage Oaks Cottage as well. Amazing, private space located on off a windy back road, not far from the village itself. Comfy bedroom, and adorably decorated and clean. Lots to look around at, artistic touches, both inside and out. Would definitely come back and stay here when in the Valley again. Thank you for this wonderful experience.

Our week long stay at Vintage Oaks Cottage was a delight from the moment we turned onto the Live Oaks covered road to the cottage! The cottage is cozy and comfortable, with fireplace, cushy leather couches and chairs, very COMFY bed, and lovely, private sitting areas throughout the yard where one can soak up the sun, enjoy some shade, or hot tub it under the stars at night! Loved the view from the kitchen sink window, loved having a clothes washer and dryer too! Each room had the owners personal artisan touch in her hand made antique replica lampshades, simply BEAUTIFUL! We loved the laid back, country feel of the Village of Carmel Valley.....where the sun DOES shine, as opposed to Carmel, along the foggy coast! Laid back, friendly, countrified, yet all the refinements of shops, wine tastings, galleries and more. Make sure to stop in "The Lights Of Rome" shop to see gorgeous imports from Italy AND lampshades by Pamela! Dining ,as per recommended by Pamela, her favorite, dine at the Cafe Rustica......wonderful ambiance and food!...right next door to "The Lights of Rome". Enjoy a great hamburger at the Running Iron, and treat yourself to a decadant Ollala berry pie from the well stocked local grocery and deli, Carmel Valley Market. Be sure and visit the Earthbound Organic Gardens and Farmstand for some great organic produce fresh from their fields and de-lish baked goods and salads and a bouquet of flowers for the dining room table, just down the road towards Carmel. This was a great location to tour the nearby by attractions of Carmel, Monterey and even San Francisco up the coast a ways. We came home from our lovely stay at Vintage Oaks Cottage, renewed, refreshed, relaxed, full of good country air..............and ready to move there!!!!! Forgot to mention, If you're into wine tastings, there's plenty of it there! ENJOY!! Thanks Pamela for a lovely "home away from home"! Judi and Dick.....Southern California

I had a wonderful week at your cotttage with my 2 dogs. It was lovely, nicely appointed, and had a very cute back yard which the dogs thoroughly enjoyed lazing around in. Cute and comfortable! Had hoped to re-visit the cottage again this year, but family emergencies prevented it. The owner was very understanding and I will definitely come back when things settle down. Loved the area so much that I would love to retire there! Would highly recommend it!

The cottage and grounds are lovely; and the location is perfect for visits to Carmel restaurants, the Monterey Aquarium, hiking trails, wineries and much more. Very, very peaceful with owls hooting, frogs croacking, and hummingbirds darting about all from the comfort of the hot tub. We'll be back soon! Thanks again. PS...Houdini gave it a four paw review!

Sweet, comfortable, calming, peaceful, romantic These words just begin to describe how lovely our stay was at the Vintage Cottage. My husband and I spent two memorable days waking up to birds chirping and lovely flowers, sunshine and beauty. It was our 10th wedding anniversary vacation and our time in Carmel Valley was truly special. We took the hike to the secluded waterfall, grilled a perfect steak we picked up at the local grocery, enjoyed the fireplace and (my husband) wireless internet access. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the bedroom so cute and cozy. But best of all...it felt like home and made us feel less like visitors and more like locals. And close to Carmel and Monterey (wow, the aquarium) and the beautiful vistas of the coast. We feel so fortunate we had the opportunity to anchor ourselves in such a lovely home.

I usually stay in Carmel, but it's Carmel Valley for me now! I did not expect this property to be as nice as it was for the price, we were VERY pleasantly surprised. Carmel Valley weather is superior to Carmel. This cottage would easily rent for double in Carmel as well. This really was the cutest and most comfortable place. The big garden was delightful, very lush, private and secluded. The cottage has everything you would need, and is decorated beautifully. Lots of special antique and vintage items, definitely NOT your usual rental furnished from Ikea. The bed is particularly comfortable, and we loved the views of the "Vintage Oaks" from every window. We hope stay again this winter

Vintage Oaks was a perfect spot for my husband and me. Lots of space inside and outside, all of the advertised amenities and a few unexpected ones too. Very quiet, private and relaxing. We liked the vintage and antique furnishings. The location was good for hiking and biking in the Big Sur and Monterey areas and then returning for a home cooked meal or enjoying the excellent restaurants in the village. We hope to be able to visit again.

You left sufficient gems that we would look up and find something new and interesting and yet not feel overpowered by it. Just the perfect mix. Your lamps in particular are enchanting. Unfortunately I had to work while at the cottage and the WiFi has made my life so much easier, and if one has to work, this is a nice place to do it. Many many thanks. We were lucky indeed to find this charming "hideaway" in Carmel Valley for the weekend of the Monterey Historic Races and Concourse de Elegance. If you are a car enthusiast, you will love touring the backroads- we were witness to quite a show as the historic racers rallied past us on the way to Laguna Seca raceway. The location of the cottage is perfect; close to local restaurants (had a great dinner at Wills Fargo)shops, estate wineries, and groceries, but only a short drive to Monterey or Carmel by the Sea. We felt like we were staying at a friends place, not a rental. The attention to detail is wonderful, kitchy and fun, you will not be disappointed.

We stayed one week recently and wished we could have stayed for a month. The cottage is surrrounded by the greenery of the peaceful gardens and wooded areas. This home is very charming. So many wonderful decorative touches and a very cozy feeling. It is relaxing and especially quiet at night for a great night's sleep. The cottage is very close to Carmel Valley Village which offers a lot for such a small town such as ....good restaurants and wine tasting rooms. We can't wait to come back. If you have a dog there is a public park where you can walk your dog in the main part of town and of course numerous trails nearby.

Comment Text: I have stayed in this beautiful cottage a couple of times, and I will be sure to return again. The best parts of the stay for me were the absolute relaxation I felt there - sitting in the beautiful garden in the morning, taking the dog for a walk by a creek in the hills, having a big breakfast in Carmel Village, and falling asleep to the sound of crickets. The cottage is an absolute gem of artistic and vintage touches. You couldn't be more comfortable anywhere.
