THIS HOME IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD! TERRIFIC SHAPE! COMPARE THIS TO ALL OTHERS!
Semi-Oceanfront doesn't get any better than in Rodanthe, Hatteras Island, Outer Banks. Our home, "Isolation", is one of the best. Almost beachfront, we are only 170 feet to the beach with fabulous ocean and sound views and convenient sound access.
IGNITE your senses on sounds of the surf, delicious unobstructed ocean views and sunsets over the sound. With open space on three sides, you will also enjoy privacy rarely found at the beach.
Stay longer –– we enjoy the FASTEST wireless internet on the island (20 mg - new to island in 2009). Need Solitude this winter to write or think? Check out our monthly rates for winter.
This 4 year young home was custom built with thoughtful features to help you maximize your comfort and enjoyment. Its amenities include: living room with surround sound, wii, large screen tv, multiple decks, hot tub, a game room with pool table and wet bar and below-deck – a large shower/changing room, and all you need to clean and stow your surfing/wind gear.
Your family will not be disappointed here! As you view our new photos – you can almost hear the surf.
Our Beach House name “Isolation”was chosen by the previous owner. Our first thought was to change the name, it didn’t seem welcoming enough. Then we read the history of Hatteras Island and spent some time thinking about the name, “Isolation”, that the previous owners chose.
When reading the history of Hatteras Island the word isolation jumps from the pages several times. There was no paved road on Hatteras until 1952 – prior to that, islanders drove down the sand trails, or on the beach. Until the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge was completed in 1963, the only way onto the island was by water. The islanders were truly isolated.
Our home sits somewhat isolated toward the end of a dirt road, with open lots on either side. This gives us fabulous views, even with a shorter home right in front of us. Hatteras Island homes appear relatively isolated from each other, compared to cramped neighborhoods in any other coastal vacation town. This is because only 12% of the land is built-up with most of the ground being held as a National Preserve.
We feel the name “Isolation” has a certain dignity to it and for now we will keep the name. (Although Marti calls it her beach front pirate shanty, but thats a long story.)

Why the Owner Chose Rodanthe
We love the fact that Hatteras Island is only 12% developed, with the majority of the land preserved. We love the water sports, the weather, the wind and the natural wildness that envelops this friendly, fun island.

Owner's Map of Rodanthe
John and Marti love the Outer Banks and can be found paddling their kayak, or swimming in the beautiful water. They have been married for 30 years and live in Pennsylvania. Their family is featured as "The Pirates of Chicamacomico" on the photo page.
Marti and John downsized their principal home to realize their dream - to own a beach home with fabulous ocean views. John sent Marti and their son Zach down to Hatteras this winter to "buy a small beach cottage" but they both fell in love with "Isolation" and call it their Pirate Shanty to make it "seem" small!
