The property, themed on a Scottish “Hunting Lodge”, is a sumptuous yet quirky and romantic retreat which will welcome the sophisticated weary traveler or exhausted business professional with open arms.

Throughout the property ancient warrior artefacts abound none less so than in the imposing stairwell where you can imagine taking on the Scots headed by William Wallace at Bannockburn. In addition there are also many paintings portraying the beautiful Henley-on-Thames.

We now have two other properties which can be viewed from our UK website - be sure to have a look as you will find them equally if not more so enticing than St. Swithins!!!!

With the many gorgeous country walks to be enjoyed during the summer months and the combination of the two stoves, Aga cooker and warm furnishings transforming the house into a cozy retreat for the colder ones, it truly is perfect all year round.

It is a truly characterful period property dating, in some parts, to approaching 500 years old and offering the most superb range of facilities along with the “Quintessential” village pub for food and beverages, at the end of its own private drive, to relax in after a long hard day.

With both ample parking & living accommodation and luxury rooms it is the ideal "Home from Home"!

The Unique Benefits at this House

If you are looking for that which typifies the ancient aspects of England then look no further.

Here you have a luxurious romantic Country Cottage offering peace, antiquity and tranquillity.

Couple that to the following and you have a winning combination:

a) the centrality of its location in relation to Henley, Ascot and Windsor;
b) the ease of transfer to / from London Heathrow Airport and indeed London itself; and
c) the fact that you have a fantastic original ancient English pub at the end of your own drive!

Hurst itself is situated 1 mile from Twyford and here lies one of its great assets – the train station. You can travel east to London Paddington in as little as 24 minutes! Or travel west to Reading in 5 minutes from where the famous university city of Oxford and the equally famous city of Bath with its Roman Spa and Pump Room are easily reached.

This same railway station also has another major benefit; just try driving into Henley-on-Thames and then parking on any of the days or evenings of the world renowned Henley Royal Regatta or Henley Festival during July each year - its impossible. Far more convenient is to drive the 1 mile to the station and take the train.

Hurst is only 2 miles from another train station at Winnersh which can take you into London Waterloo as opposed to London Paddington. That same train station is just 3 stops or 15 minutes away from Ascot where the world Famous Royal Ascot horse racing is held each year in June.

Additionally what would you do if you came all this way and didn’t visit Windsor Castle just a 20 minute drive away.

But base yourself here in this 500 year old ancient cosy country cottage set in its own 4 acres of land with the best, equally ancient, 16th century village tavern for miles around at the end of its own private drive. For lunches, diners and fine ales you can’t do better!

Owner's Map of Henley-on-Thames

Hi everybody my name is Dean Milroy and I moved into St. Swithins House, which is next door to St. Swithins Cottage, in 1990.

Bizarrely between then and March 2004, when St. Swithins Cottage came into my hands, I also lived for a couple of years in St. Swithins Court, Twyford. So there must be some affinity between me and the Right Honourable Mr. St. Swithins!

Anyway since 2004 I have transformed the cottage into a very special family home offering peace, antiquity and tranquillity to all who visit.

Both my sons started their education in our village school which won the UK Primary School of the Year award in 1995. They are now continuing their education as polite, caring & thoughtful young gentlemen but it was this village that gave them the springboard in life.

So a lot of good memories were created here and its time to let others experience wonderful times too.

I offer you the joy and magic of the ancient St. Swithins Cottage!
