Welcome to Sleepy Creek Cabin......
If you are looking for a unique and rustic cabin to relax and recharge in a beautiful mountain setting, you've found it! Private, yet convenient to all the High Country has to offer. Come and experience the charm of a "real" pioneer log cabin. Enjoy the simple pleasure of nature's beauty and early Americana bundled into one. Take a deep breath, now...exhale!
Sleepy Creek is made from the logs of two authentic 1800's log cabins (from Kentucky and West Virginia) that were re-assembled and joined to make a very unique and comfortable vacation get away. This cabin is constructed of beautiful antique hand hewn poplar and oak logs, wonderful stonework, complete with a cedar shake roof. It is located on over 4 acres of wooded land with a native trout stream running past the cabin through the entire acreage.
The interior features large rooms with (2) bedrooms and (2) bathrooms. The master is located on main floor (queen) and has a small private bathroom. Black walnut plank flooring, antique knotty pine paneling and soap stone block fireplace blend with newer components to set the stage for this cozy retreat. The second bedroom encompasses the entire upstairs (one double and two single beds) with vaulted ceiling and ceiling fans.
The rustic farm house style kitchen is fully equipped, features all new appliances, but maintains it's country charm with period pieces, including an authentic turn of the century Hoosier Cabinet. There is also a separate laundry room. A 2nd bathroom is located downstairs. But the best part is the covered front porch. Relax to the view of the very noisy creek and the many hummingbirds that frequent the cabin in the summer. Don't forget to enjoy a picnic or nap by the creek - benches, picnic table and hammock provided. Sleepy Creek provides the perfect setting for your relaxation, comfort and enjoyment.
Sleepy Creek is conveniently located to Boone, Blowing Rock, Todd/New River, W. Jefferson and access to the Blue Ridge Parkway is just over our ridge.

Owner Description

Choosing the perfect vacation home is so incredibly difficult and personal. We knew we wanted to restore an antique log cabin, with all the trimmings that come along with the simple, unique craftsmanship of our early pioneer heritage. Twenty years of dreaming, off and on again searching, found us in what we believe is an incredibly beautiful section of the N.C. Mountains. Located in a quiet valley setting, with a cold noisy mountain stream to lull us to sleep, yet within convenient proximity to nearby towns, and Parkway access just a hop, skip and jump away - we were home! A few years, and a lot of hard work later, Sleepy Creek was created, and has become a very special place for us to unwind, enjoy simple pleasures, and make special memories with family and friends. We hope you will visit and enjoy the cabin and area as much as our family.

Wow, what a cabin! My parents, son and I couldn't have asked for more, especially for my dad's birthday. The cabin was very comfortable and clean but needed better reading light. We loved hiking in the woods and playing in the stream. I would recommend this cabin anytime.

This was our second stay and Sleepy Creek and it was another amazing getaway! It is so peaceful and quiet here. The kids love to play in the creek (in their pajamas) and the adults like to sit on the porch in the rocking chairs and just relax. The cabin is just beautiful and it has everything you could need to make your stay comfortable. We were so sad to leave but we know that we will be back!!

What a beautiful place in the NC mountains! The cabin was rustic, antique, and everything we wanted! Close to Boone and Banner Elk but yet far enough to avoid a ton of traffic. My wife and I will be staying there again hopefully in the near future!

We feel so fortunate to have found this little treasure. I almost don't want to let the secret out! Sleepy Creek is a slice of paradise in the mountains of NC. This is not just a rental. This is someone's home. The owners have shown immense love for this property. They really want the visitor to enjoy their time here. They even called us to be sure we arrived safely:) The photos really wet your appetite for this cabin, but to see it person is a must!!!!

We enjoyed four peaceful nights at Sleepy Creek. When we drove up to the cabin, we said, "Wow". And when we opened the front door for the first time, we said, "Wow." Then, when we went out to the porch overlooking the stream, we said, well, you probably already know our reaction ! You don't really need to bring anything except for your favorite bottle of vino, your favorite walking shoes, and your favorite book. You might include a hatchet to cut kindling if you are there during the winter months. Fantastic little cabin and our dog loved it, too - she felt right at home.

Just a quick note to sing the praises of this wonderful cabin getaway!! We flew all the way from San Diego to see familyand we were delighted to have found this gem of a cabin. My husband and I stayed for three nights in August and we truly didn't want to leave!! The pictures don't do justice to how pretty it really was! The lovely antique decor and the meticulous craftsmanship was amazing. We felt restful and well cared for. Everything was so well stocked and organized , it just felt like home as soon as we dropped our bags. We had a sleep over in the upper loft with my little niece and nephew and Lindsay's(age 7) comment was "Pinch me, I'm dreaming!!" We watched Monsters Inc till we all crashed:)-.( great movie and cd selection) We are both cooks and really pleased with the kitchen/ kitchen supplies. We had everything we needed!! All in all we want to make this our come back to place for many years!!! Thank you to the hosts for sharing your lovely home with our family!!

What a wonderful place to stay! I was concerned with the artistry in the photos that reality wouldn't match up, but it did! We spent the days hiking, with the afternoons having the kids play in the creek while mom and dad watched. After the kids went to bed, the parents read on the porch listening to the stream. What a great retreat!! The cabin was clean, and the kitchen had everything you could need in it to prepare wonderful meals.

This was our first family vacation with our two little ones (6 & 3) and what a great choice. I can't say enough about this beautiful little cabin on the creek. It was hard to leave the cabin to go out and about to do the many activities there are to do in the area. We started our days with coffee on the porch overlooking the creek and then 4-5 hours of playing in the creek or on the big manicured yard, then a hot bath and hot lunch and off to go fishing, or hiking or caving or gem mining (my son's favorite). The owners are like invisible hosts and it is evident that they are lovely people by the care they have taken with everything. A kitchen with every small appliance or pan that you could want, a laundry room, games, satellite TV and DSL access. It was everything we expected and more. The directions were perfect and it is easy to get to Boone (15 min) and the Blue Ridge Parkway (5 min). There is a nice grocery store just 10 mins away as well. We cannot wait to return for some winter fun.
