Our visit and stay at Sleepy Creek was so amazingly wonderful. The owners haven't missed a beat when it comes to the little things that make a get a way perfect. This cabin is in a perfect location, very clean and comfortable and over all the perfect place to enjoy peace and quiet. We traveled to Boone and Blowing Rock and enjoyed the beautiful scenery, fun, unique shops, wonderful restaurants and great Farmers Markets in both cities. We recommend this cabin to anyone who is seeking that sweet time to get a way from the hectic life and craziness of the city. We will return.

We had a fantastic time celebrating our anniversary at this charming mountain cabin! Everything was more than expected, from the welcoming exterior as we arrived to the snug, cozy interior to relax in. We loved the creek that runs in front of the cabin, and enjoyed watching the chickadees on the porch feeder. We also got to enjoy a mountain snow one morning...so beautiful!! We will definitely make a return visit to this wonderful mountain retreat!

This was our second stay and Sleepy Creek and it was another amazing getaway! It is so peaceful and quiet here. The kids love to play in the creek (in their pajamas) and the adults like to sit on the porch in the rocking chairs and just relax. The cabin is just beautiful and it has everything you could need to make your stay comfortable. We were so sad to leave but we know that we will be back!!

We feel so fortunate to have found this little treasure. I almost don't want to let the secret out! Sleepy Creek is a slice of paradise in the mountains of NC. This is not just a rental. This is someone's home. The owners have shown immense love for this property. They really want the visitor to enjoy their time here. They even called us to be sure we arrived safely:) The photos really wet your appetite for this cabin, but to see it person is a must!!!!

We enjoyed four peaceful nights at Sleepy Creek. When we drove up to the cabin, we said, "Wow". And when we opened the front door for the first time, we said, "Wow." Then, when we went out to the porch overlooking the stream, we said, well, you probably already know our reaction ! You don't really need to bring anything except for your favorite bottle of vino, your favorite walking shoes, and your favorite book. You might include a hatchet to cut kindling if you are there during the winter months. Fantastic little cabin and our dog loved it, too - she felt right at home.

What a wonderful place to stay! I was concerned with the artistry in the photos that reality wouldn't match up, but it did! We spent the days hiking, with the afternoons having the kids play in the creek while mom and dad watched. After the kids went to bed, the parents read on the porch listening to the stream. What a great retreat!! The cabin was clean, and the kitchen had everything you could need in it to prepare wonderful meals.

What a beautiful place in the NC mountains! The cabin was rustic, antique, and everything we wanted! Close to Boone and Banner Elk but yet far enough to avoid a ton of traffic. My wife and I will be staying there again hopefully in the near future!

Just a quick note to sing the praises of this wonderful cabin getaway!! We flew all the way from San Diego to see familyand we were delighted to have found this gem of a cabin. My husband and I stayed for three nights in August and we truly didn't want to leave!! The pictures don't do justice to how pretty it really was! The lovely antique decor and the meticulous craftsmanship was amazing. We felt restful and well cared for. Everything was so well stocked and organized , it just felt like home as soon as we dropped our bags. We had a sleep over in the upper loft with my little niece and nephew and Lindsay's(age 7) comment was "Pinch me, I'm dreaming!!" We watched Monsters Inc till we all crashed:)-.( great movie and cd selection) We are both cooks and really pleased with the kitchen/ kitchen supplies. We had everything we needed!! All in all we want to make this our come back to place for many years!!! Thank you to the hosts for sharing your lovely home with our family!!

This was our first family vacation with our two little ones (6 & 3) and what a great choice. I can't say enough about this beautiful little cabin on the creek. It was hard to leave the cabin to go out and about to do the many activities there are to do in the area. We started our days with coffee on the porch overlooking the creek and then 4-5 hours of playing in the creek or on the big manicured yard, then a hot bath and hot lunch and off to go fishing, or hiking or caving or gem mining (my son's favorite). The owners are like invisible hosts and it is evident that they are lovely people by the care they have taken with everything. A kitchen with every small appliance or pan that you could want, a laundry room, games, satellite TV and DSL access. It was everything we expected and more. The directions were perfect and it is easy to get to Boone (15 min) and the Blue Ridge Parkway (5 min). There is a nice grocery store just 10 mins away as well. We cannot wait to return for some winter fun.

The cabin is beautiful just like the pictures. We would recommend this cabin for sure. It was very clean and well maintained. Kathe, the owner, was very nice and called to check on us and make sure we knew how to work the heater because we were in for some cold weather! It had everything we needed in the kitchen, even a crockpot. We went caving one day and came back to home cooked chilli.(River and Earth Adventures in Boone was great for a real caving experience) The grocery store is about 10 minutes away and Boone and Blowing Rock are about 20-30 minutes away, so you are pretty close to everything. We didn't mind the drive. It was neat looking at all the Christmas tree farms!! Something you don't see in Florida! We would like to go back to this cabin in the summer months! I'm sure it would be great!

My friend and I had the best rainy (12 In,) trip. We hadn't seen each other for 15 years. The place is great. Spotless! It takes about 20 minutes to get to town but we didn't care. I'm already planning a trip with my husband when it gets colder and we can take advantage of the fireplace. Very private. Large yard with a stream running through it, The wildflowers and hummingbirds made us feel right at home. My friend who only eats organic food managed to force down a box of fudge we bought in Blowing Rock. If peace, tranquility and privacy are what you're looking for, this is it. The owners are so nice, I came down with Bronchitis the first day and after helping me find a pharmacy and get medication, they called the following night to make sure I was O.K. Great getaway!

I cannot put enough praise on the cabin and on the owners. First, the cabin: the seclusion, the layout, the impeccable quality of everything to do with the cabin from dishes to blankets to furniture are a simple recipe for rest and relaxation. We arrived with an aggressive touring schedule and quickly found ourselves ready to just sit on the porch while the kids explored the vast property. If getting away from it all is what you are looking for, I cannot recommend it enough. Second, the owners made the process as simple as possible. Quick to return correspondence and to answer questions, they are willing to go the extra mile to make your stay perfect. We will be returning soon and often!

Sleepy Creek Cabin was everything we expected and MUCH, MUCH, more. We were looking for a week of rest and relaxation, cool nights and NO Bugs. The cabin had everything for an enjoyable care-free vacation. The books available in the cabin are impressive. The only suggestion for improvement is better ceiling lighting in the living room (for reading). We will vacation at Sleepy Creek Cabin in the future and suggest anyone reading these comments do the same.

One of my very favorite quotes immediately came to mind when I arrived at Sleepy Creek Cabin. The quote is from Henry David Thoreau. He wrote, "I came to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, and see if I could learn what it had to teach ... and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." How apropos this was ... Upon arrival, I was immediately far away from the rest of the world and challenges that accompany it. The headache disappeared and I was enjoying a sense of peace and solitude that was a long time coming. The cabin and surroundings are absolutely perfect. I can see that Kathe and Roger poured out very large heapings of love, sweat and probably tears when "re"constructing this retreat. Nothing was left undone to make it authentic. I can't say enough about the wonderful time we had and hopefully will have in the future. Thanks for sharing your little slice of paradise with me. Karen Newell Raleigh, NC

The entire experience was the most wonerful vacation we have had!! Kathe and Roger did a great job building, decorating and providing us with the "little things"we could need. It was very nice to go to sleep with the windows open and listening to the creek. Since we are from Florida, it was nice to snuggle on the couch with a nice fire as well. I have already recommended this cabin to my co-workers and friends. If you're looking for somewhere to rest, relax and recharge yourself, this is the place to be!! We also got married in the town of Boone, and it was also nice to have our honeymoon there as well!

What a great family vacation we had at Sleepy Creek! Your cabin is so comfortable and well-equipped and is in the perfect setting with an awesome creek! It was a home away from home. The location of being in the Blue Ridge was great for quick mountain getaways for hiking, picnicing and enjoying the quiet, peaceful scenery, but yet it was very convenient to Boone and some of the other towns and places we wanted to visit.Between the great mountain biking and the creek, our kids were in heaven! We also really enjoyed the beautiful cool mornings and evenings on your porch watching the hummingbirds and relaxing in the rockers. This was our first cabin rental and it was more than we had expected.Your pictures are beautiful, but in person it's even better! We thank you for sharing your special place and look forward to another visit soon.

We just returned from our stay at Sleepy Creek Cabin and it was *wonderful*. Its a serene, peaceful, rustic setting yet the cabin has all the creature comforts you could ask for. We spent a lot of time on the porch in the morning and evenings--just watching the creek and listening to the peace and quiet. Our teenagers loved having the loft all to themeselves. The 'neighborhood' roads made for great running and walking adventures. We enjoyed the nightly battle of the hummingbirds--very fun to watch as they dive bomb and argue over the bird-feeders on the porch. We also loved sleeping with the bedroom windows open each night ( 65 degrees ) and listening to the creek. Boone, about 15 min away, is a great--funky little college town. Eat at Macado's! Blowing Rock is good shopping and eating also. Lots of great trails tucked off the Blue Ridge Pkwy. Grandfather Mountain is a must do. Strenuous but well worth it- hiking. It was a superb get away from the Florida heat and we would love to return perhaps during leaf season in the Fall. Enjoy!

We come out to the NC mountains a couple times and year and have stayed at plenty of log cabins. But your cabin was by and far the BEST! The kids played in the yard, the dog loved the creek and my husband and I sat on the porch drank coffee and relaxed. The cabin was so adequately supplied and cozy, I felt like I was at home. But most of all the beautiful wood, walnut flooring and antique decor just what I had in mind for a log cabin. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.

I was raised on a farm in the middle of nowhere and in Sleepy Creek Cabin I found a spot to convey that atmosphere to my teenaged sons. I felt at home and at peace there, which is important given the high stress job and urban lifestyle I find myself in now. I know we will all treasure the memories of our all too short escape to Sleepy Creek and I thank you for sharing your beautiful retreat. Allowing my short, furry child (Ozwald, our dog) to join us was a special treat. For anyone seeking a bit of adventure, try scaling Grandfather Mountain.....all of the trials are worth it and the views (near and far) are awe-inspiring. I found out there that I'm raising 2 boys who know how to walk slow and look for the small joys along the trail, as well as rise to the challenge and not give up when a dauting climb is ahead. As the credit card ads say........priceless. Thanks again, we couldn't have wished for a better place to hide out and enjoy each others company and we hope to be back. Perhaps, property shopping :~) R, S, C & O-wald

I started each day in the rocking chair on the front porch listening to the creek and watching the hummingbirds. Plus, your home had every amenity I could have wanted. I could not have asked for a better experience! We stayed in another cabin, in Tennessee, on the same trip and it made me realize how clean and comfortable yours was. Thank you so much! We've stayed in numerous cabins in the Boone/Blowing Rock area and Sleepy Creek is at the top of our list for definite repeats. The setting is tucked into a wooded area and beautifully landscaped. The comfortable deck is perfect for enjoying the sounds and sights of the flowing creek. All the amenities are well thought out and nothing is overlooked. The mixture of new and old construction is perfectly blended with the decor and furnishings. The upstairs loft is perfect for children (can sleep 4 nicely) but also beautifully furnished. Our family agrees: 4 thumbs up for Sleep Creek Cabin!

Our stay was fantastic! We had originally made other plans for a 2 day quickie vacation, but they fell thru. At the last minute, we found Sleepy Creek cabin. We are SO GLAD that we went there instead! It was delightful. The cabin is gorgeous and well appointed. There was nothing that we could have wanted for. The furniture was cozy, the kitchen fully stocked (including a crock pot!). They even have good movies, books, games, music. The cabin is located in a beautiful forest of rhododendrons and hemlocks, with a wonderful stream. We did some of the sightseeing in the area, but nothing was as nice as being at the cabin. We were so enamored of the place, that we decided to stay another night. We will definitely go back when we can spend some more time.

Wow, I can't begin to tell you how thrilled we were with it all. What a charming, cozy, lovely cabin -- really enchanting. We noticed your property is situated so perfectly....and the CREEK!!!! We opened our window each night to enjoy the peaceful babbling brook sounds. We left feeling happy, relaxed, and at the same time, sad that we weren't able to stay longer. And, even though we weren't able to ski, it was fine....we enjoyed shopping at Blowing Rock, cooking, reading, hiking, game playing, movie watching, music, etc etc...so much to do. We thank you again for opening and sharing your terrific place to us. We loved it so much, we've decided NC is 'us' and want to take the trip frequently.

We are at a loss for words to describe our week long retreat. Nestled in a hollow with a babbling brook, the cabin looks as if it has been there for generations. We felt as if we had stepped back in time. However, looks can be deceiving. The cabin has all the comforts of home and is tastfully decorated. We couldn't get off the front porch rockers to explore the surrounding countryside. There was no need to go anywhere else! But, if you want to venture off the front porch, there are an abundance of recreational opportunities a short drive away and brochures are provided to help you decide! We plan to make an annual retreat to Sleepy Creek. Maybe next year we'll get off the porch.

We just returned from a very relaxing weekend at this beautiful cabin, although two nights was not nearly enough. The cabin is beautifully appointed, with a rustic feel but all the "conveniences" of today. The owners have added many little touches that made it cozy and very comfortable. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the porch and listening to the sounds of the stream and nature surrounding the cabin. The fireplace was a welcome feature, as the evenings were rather chilly. There was plenty of wood and kindling to get the fire started. We spent an enjoyable day browsing the shops in Blowing Rock, and an evening checking out the funky college town of Boone. We had a delicious meal with ambience at the Bistro, and also found good food and a varied menu at the Red Onion (Boone). We very much look forward to returning to Sleepy Creek Cabin.

We had a wonderful relaxing week at the secluded "rustic" cabin. By the pictures and the description, it was everything we expected and more. Words can't describe how peaceful it was to sit in the rockers on the porch with the view and the sound of the stream in front of you. Everything was so green and lush with the ferns and the wildflowers in bloom. The cabin sure had the feel of yesteryear but with all the modern conveniences of today including a well equiped kitchen. This cabin was a serene retreat from our busy city lifestyle. Everything was SO GREEN! The brook and the rocking chair porch are the best features, and the whole cabin was fresh & clean (lots of hot water and really new appliances). It's really close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, where we stopped along the way to hike the Linville Falls and see the eerie caverns. Loved the cute gift shops in Blowing Rock (only a 15-minute drive); The Six Pence Pub was a good lunch recommendation, with the BEST ice cream shop right next door. One morning we hiked the gravel road through the property (up the mountain on the way out, but easily down on the way back) and met a nice neighbor "walking" the dog via her ATV (all-terrain vehicle). We flushed a wild turkey (by accident), which flew to a higher perch. Would love to visit in wintertime to see it all clothed in white, do a little skiing and light a fire in the cozy den.
