The Unique Benefits at this House
This comfortable vacation home is set on 6 acres with mountain views from almost every window. The grounds are landscaped with fruit trees, a grape arbor and a little bubbling pond. Big decks on 3 sides, so we sit outside on the deck and just drink it in. Marshall is an incredibly picturesque town just a few minutes away, with good food, an artistic community, and live bluegrass music at Zuma Coffee. Hot Springs is not far and in warm weather always go to the beautiful river nearby to swim, then stay for dinner at one of the excellent restaurants.
Go rafting on the French Broad River, or just stroll along the lovely wooded pathway and splash around.
Hot Springs, NC, a resort destination for almost 200 years, has long been renowned for its healing mineral springs and scenic mountain setting. Do a 5.3 mile day hike on the Appalachian Trail, going north from Hot Springs to Tanyard Gap. The AT, heading north from Hot Springs, climbs steeply from the French Broad River to the ridge that cuts through the mountains on its way from Asheville to Knoxville. The climb lasts 3 miles, with the first mile rough and possibly hazardous in wet or icy weather. But the view is worth the effort, and after the first mile the trail passes through dry pine-oak forest and becomes well graded with easy ups and downs. Many side trails run through this area, and the AT can be combined with some of them for loop hikes. Natural history features: Lovers Leap; French Broad Valley; thermal springs.
