A Cozy Cottage

Guest: Debbie (Boca Raton, Florida)
Date of Stay: 04/13/12 Review Submitted: 05/05/12

The cottage was a cozy place to stay. It was everything that the description said. Very clean, well maintained and stocked with everything that anyone would need. It was perfect for us being there to attend a family wedding. The owner was a pleasure to do business with! I would highly recommend this property to you. Hurry and book your stay! As I said, we were there for a wedding so we were busy most of the weekend, but if you like nature Paynes Prairie is close. The rehearsal dinner was at Napolatano's Restaurant, the food was delicious! And last but not least if you are looking for a nice place to have a wedding I would recommend Sweetwater Branch Inn!

Great Little Cottage

Guest: Helga (United States)
Date of Stay: 03/08/12 Review Submitted: 03/12/12

This is a terrific little cottage. I stayed at the cottage with my husband and 2 small dogs. Great fenced yard. It is in a decidedly ungentrified neighborhood but within 10 minutes walk of all the gentrification that you could ask for (Starbucks included). The owner was super - thank you Lorraine. We would definitely stay there again.

Owner response:Thanks so much, Helene. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and would love to have you, Chris, Albert and Jack back any time!

Precious cottage and wonderful stay!

Thank you so much for making my month-long visit to Gainesville this summer so comfortable and enjoyable! All the thoughtful touches and the convenient location to the University and downtown made it ideal for my stay. So glad y'all welcome pets, too. Gainesville is a dog-friendly town. We loved walking in the neighborhoods and visiting the Northeast Dog Park (about a mile away). Hope to come back soon!

Owner response:Thanks, Victoria. We were happy to have you and Honey as our guests. You're welcome back any time!

Perfect for couples.

3rd St Cottage is downtown City but you feel like you're in a small village. Friendly folks, a bike ride 3 minutes to the many nightspots and restaurants. Free concerts at Bo Diddley park. A vibrant farmers market on Wednesday afternoon with a variety of tastes and smells and wide selection of local produce and products from small farmers. The location is suprisingly mellow and quiet yet still in the middle of it all. UF is less than 10 min on a bicycle. The bikes provided at the Cottage are very nice. Next time we'll leave ours home.

Clean and Quaint

We stayed at the cottage over the weekend for a Florida football game. Last year, we stayed in an awful motel and got charged more per night than the cottage. It was clean, comfortable, very cute, and within walking distance to restaurants. We even walked to the game at the stadium...it was about 1.5 miles, but a nice walk. The backyard is big with a table and a bbq grill, too. Washer and dryer were great--so much better than mine at home! (: If we return to Gainesville, we will definitely be staying at the cottage!

Great location and owners

We found the cottage to be all that we expected and its location to be very appropriate for us. While we were attending a sporting event at the University of Florida, we wanted the availability of entertainment not focused on students to be nearby. The owner had done a great job replying to my questions about access to campus and about the quality of restaurants in the downtown area. We did not have a car during our stay in Gainesville. After taking a cab from the airport, we walked to everything else we did. I don't know when we will next need to be in Gainesville but would be likely to stay in the cottage again.

We stayed at the cabin because our daughter is going to UF and we needed to attend Preview. It worked out great for us because we needed a place to stay that we could bring our small dog. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The owners have nice touches that we can appreciate and the home is well equipped. It took us about 15 minutes to get to campus. It felt good to come "home" after a long day of orientations and information overload and relax and unwind with the nice living area. The cottage is very cozy. We were in and out so quickly that we didn't get a chance to enjoy and much as we would have liked but we think Buddy was very comfortable while we were away. We will for sure stay here again over the next 4 years!

Love the cottage! I spent alot of time walking and the area is very scenic and peaceful. Volta was the first stop -- great espresso. I hope the rest of my family gets a chance to stay here while visiting in the future...

Happy New Year! Gainesville is a wonderful city. And your little cottage was just right for us. Doggies had a terrific time as did we. We will likely come back again.

As two Canadian snowbirds we came to Gainesvile hoping to find an active college town with lots to explore on foot and by bicycle and canoe. We have not been disappointed in our month here. The real Florida is great! Third Street Cottage took us back to our own college days, but with alot more amenities than when we started out. Thanks for the memories.

We found the cottage absolutely perfect for our needs. Quiet neighborhood, comfortable amenities, plenty of space for the 2 of us. The bed was super-comfortable, everything was very clean and tidy and cozy. Nice to have a sense of home away from home. Conveniently located to all that we needed in Gainesville, too!

(Written in our Guestbook) This place was perfect for us to "play house" in as we expored Gainesville for a few days. Thanks for the bikes - a great way to get around town. We enjoyed meals here "at home" and a great dinner at Emiliano's -- highly recommended! Thanks again for the cozy accommodations and friendly professionalism that made it all come together. We hope to be back someday!

We were back in town for homecoming weekend. The cottage was perfect for us. Very clean and close to restaurants, bars, and just a short walk to campus. The owners were great to work with. We really enjoyed our stay.

Owner response:Thanks, Korey. You were great guests, too!

We had such a great time at your cottage! The location was a short walk from so many great restaurants and bars downtown. The hardest part was choosing where to go! We loved The Top, by the way. Great suggestion! The cottage was even nicer than it looked in the pics. It was clean, comfy and had everything we needed. So much better than a plain old hotel room. We'll definitely be back!

Owner response:Thanks so much, Brad. We look forward to having you back!

(Written in our Guestbook) Suli, Jackie and I had a great stay. Jackie especially appreciated the dog treats and "fancy" dog dishes. We look forward to staying here again. P.S. The Top was great! And we loved Dragonfly so much that we ate there twice...

(Written in Our Guestbook) There is no place like home -- but the Third Street Cottage sure comes close! Being here takes me back to those happy, carefree days growing up in Orlando. I felt right at home with the wood floors, checkerboard kitchen tiles and even the glass doorknobs. I recommend Third Street Cottage to anyone looking for a quiet getaway to Gainesville.
