Our two-story brick/ clapboard house, built about 30 years ago from old bricks reclaimed from downtown Saluda, is nestled midst the tall hardwoods and hemlocks of a privately held 40 acre mountain preserve, just minutes outside of Saluda, down Pearson Falls Road. Enjoy the peaceful sights and sounds of our private stream and waterfalls from the porch of this meticulously maintained home....or stroll down to the water, sit on a rock and cool your heels. The large stream, with its waterfalls and wading pools, cuts through the rhododendron covered hillsides, with a trail running alongside its length.
You can relax in the swing on the front porch, or savor the tree house feeling of the second story porch, in the rear of the house-- overlooking the stream.
Come inside, each room is generously proportioned; tastefully and comfortably furnished, with room to spread out and enjoy yourselves.......the main level is anchored by a 432 sq. ft. great room with heart pine floors, a large creek-stone fireplace, a dining table for 8, 2 leather sofas, with a separate area for watching the NEW Dish TV (!)and a selection of Videos & DVD's. Bring your laptop computers and the wi-fi will keep you in touch with your world. Or, if you'd rather, choose a book from the well-stocked shelves, simply curl up and read.
The kitchen has a waterfall view, beautiful pine counter tops, and all the conveniences of home.
The main level also has two bedrooms. The spacious master bedroom, with a King-size pillow top mattress, opens onto the covered porch. Next to the master, is a roomy second bedroom with twin beds. These bedrooms share the Master bath with double vanity, and tub/shower combination. The laundry room is in the hallway across from these bedrooms.
The lower level has two large bedrooms, and a large shared bathroom with a tub/shower combination. The downstairs glassed-in sun room/playroom also overlooks the stream, has a sofa and daybed, and is well stocked with TV & VCR movies, ping pong table, games and toys.

I can't tell you how much we enjoyed our time in Saluda. The flowers were in bloom, and the weather was absolutely gorgeous....low to mid 70s during the day and high 50s to low 60s in the evenings. We had a blast and can't wait to come back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

After their preview of the house..."I loved your house! It will be perfect for us to rent. I can hardly wait to crack open a stack of books on the back porch and relax. Thank you so much for arranging the preview for me. Whomever is your house cleaner deserves a gold metal!!!" And after their stay..." When I get another date in mind, I will drop you an email to book. We had a lovely time and hope to return again and again. Enjoy your bit of heaven, as it truly is!"Did you find this review helpful? "Thank you again for allowing us to use your home for our mini vacation. We thoroughly enjoyed the house, its ambiance, and the area. My wife enjoyed all of the books, magazines, and the kids thoroughly enjoyed all the games and I enjoyed dominating the entire family at ping pong. I was able to catch up on all my football games with the DISH system as well. I am sure we would love to rent your house again in the future."Did you find this review helpful? "We had a fabulous time at your beautiful cabin and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. I cannot tell you how impressed I was with the decorations and extensive library as I myself am an avid fly-fisherman..... Again thank you kindly for allowing us to stay in such a wonderful home and setting this past weekend. I hope to visit again in the future."Did you find this review helpful? Everything was perfect! We loved the Craftsman seating in the den. Internet service was excellent. We had four laptops surfing at one time and had no trouble. Thank you for your hospitality.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1994
About the owner: We are a 4th generation summer family in Saluda. When our children were young, we spent whole summers in this wonderful place, hiking, mountain biking, tubing, picking wild raspberries and blackberries, catching (and releasing crawdads) . During the rest of the year, we'd dash up for the weekend, to get away. Now, we are not able to be here as much, so we want to share this very special place.
Why the Owner Chose Saluda:
We chose the Saluda area for what it is, as well as for what it isn't! It is: at high enough elevation to provide an average 10 degrees cooler summers than our primary residence in mid SC. Mild winters, and long autumns (changing leaves) and springs (wild flowers). Saluda is an old fashioned mountain town, conveniently close to I-26. There is plenty to do.... great restaurants in Saluda, Hendersonville, and Tryon. The Biltmore House & the Flat Rock Playhouse are close by. Also, antique shops and auctions.
It isn't: Dollywood! This is not an area that is over run with tourists.....there is no pressure to do anything. High heels and neckties are not required.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Members of our family and our guests use this property as a base for a wide range of nearby outdoor activities: fly fishing in the Mills and Davidson Rivers; mountain biking and hiking in Dupont and Pisgah Forests; tubing on the Green River; white water rafting on the Pigeon and French Broad Rivers; trail riding and horse showing in Tryon at Harmon Field and FENCE.
