Six Reasons to rent our home:

Rent 6 nights and get the 7th night free. That's right. Rent a whole week and you'll only pay for 6 days. Rent for 2 weeks and get two nights free. Rent 3 weeks and .... well, you get the idea.

"True" ski-in/ski-out home - We've rented places the called themselves ski-in/ski-out and find ourselves disappointed when the owners took liberty with the term. This home is a "TRUE" ski-in/ski-out home. You can ski down "Bail Out" trail, look to the left and see the back of the home. Turn you skis off the trail, ski down 40 feet and you are at the back door. And when you want to get back on the slopes, put the skis back on and ski out the neighborhood down to the gondola on a trail next to the road. You NEVER have to take a step except to cross the back door threshold going into the home. You don't have to ski the trees, you don't have to sit down or side step and you don't have to be an expert skier. Our home is the closest house on the mountain to a ski trail. Every other home at Kicking Horse is further away.

Kicking Horse Mountain - We love to ski and we love this mountain. The only mountain with better terrain (in our opinion) is Jackson Hole. The only mountain with better snow is Alta. The only place with a better view is Lake Louise. This mountain is the total package. It's huge and always has soft powder somewhere (even in spring). It has bumps, chutes, bowls, trees, glades, cornices, cliffs, terrain parks, back country and even bunny slopes, magic carpets, long meandering blues ("It's a 10" - 10 km long). We take several ski trips a year all over the US and Canada and chose Kicking Horse because it is the total package. Come try it (again) and we think you'll agree.

Hot tub - the hot tub is a must after a long (or short) day of skiing. The hot tub easily holds 8 people, is quiet and secluded tucked at the back corner of the house just 10 feet from the back door. No sharing the hot tub with a whole lodge full of guests. No neighbors next door looking right at the hot tub when you're using it. Turn on some music, have a glass of wine and submerse yourself in the warm water while breathing the cool mountain air (maybe snow is falling). The hot tub is checked and maintained every week so you don't have to worry about chemicals, if it's hot enough or if it's even working. It's ready, just add you.

Beds, Beds, Beds - We have lots of beds. Not pullout couches or air matresses but actual beds. And what beds they are. Three beautiful, huge King beds (poster and sleigh), a double trundle that can convert to a King, a double and if you still don't have enough, a futon that folds down to a twin. You'll have a great night's sleep and awake refreshed for a day on the mountain.

The View - The front dining area, balcony and Master bedroom window seat all have panoramic views of the Columbia river valley and the Canadian Rockies. Watch the sun rise up through the huge front windows while having your morning coffee. The home sits at the top of a circular road, at the highest point in the neighborhood so you command the best view.

In case you needed some other reasons:
- Heated wood and tile floors. Wake up, step off the edge of the bed to a warm, comfortable floor. No more freezing your feet running to the bathroom in the morning. No more putting on socks or shoes to go get breakfast.
- High Speed Internet, whole home wirelss and a computer and printer for your use. Surf the internet to see how much powder is going to dump tonight, check in for your flights and print your boarding pass, check out what band is playing at the local bar or shop for new skis...all from any room in the house, or on the computer that's included in the office.
- Entertainment. Air hockey, table tennis and pool table await you down in the den. Start a nice wood fire in the stove and everyone hang out and play games. We have lots of board games, cards and puzzles for your use. We also have a collection of movies and three TV's throughout the house all with sattelite TV service. Maybe go sledding with the whole family. You won't be bored.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2009

We are two avid skiers who bought our house for ski trips with family and friends and eventual retirement. To help pay the bills we rent it out when we aren't using it. We first skied at Kicking Horse in 2004 as part of our yearly ski trip with friends - that year trying out the eastern side of the Canadian Rockies. We had skied Whistler a couple of times and knew we loved Canadians. They are so nice, cheerful and friendly people. Our day at Kicking Horse was the favorite of everyone on the trip. We couldn't believe how great the snow was, how big the mountain was and how few people there were. My wife and I actually got engaged at the top of Lake Louise. She asked me to marry her and I said yes and she presented me with candy lollipop rings (we later upgraded them). Anyway, we looked at buying at the time but weren't in a financial position to do so. But in 2009 we were in a much better position and so we decided to come back to double check if everything we remembered about it was true. It was and we happened to stumble upon a great deal on this home and jumped at the opportunity. With any life changing event there is always a little voice that wonders if you are doing the right thing. That voice went away and never came back after we had to stop for a black wolf in the middle of the road between Banff and Golden. We knew this was the place for us. We hope that you will consider experiencing our wonderful home and get as much enjoyment out of it as we do.

Why the Owner Chose Kicking Horse Mountain Resort

We love to ski and Kicking Horse has some of the best skiing in North America. We absolutely love the snow and varied terrain of Kicking Horse. And the views are to die for.

The Unique Benefits of this House

You cannot find a home at Kicking Horse Resort that is a better ski-in/ski-out location than this.

    • PERFECT. Just perfect. We made the decision at the last minute to get away and had the whole deal done within the hour. We were shocked at the size of the place. It was huge. And there wasn't a thing missing. We rent vacation homes whenever we travel (within & outside of Canada) and have been doing so for years. This is the first place we have rented with which we couldn't find one thing wrong or missing. The house is beautiful, the setting is gorgeous (eating at the breakfast table while looking out at Rockies was nothing short of spectacular). I was concerned about people being able to see us sitting in the hot tub because many of the places at Kicking Horse have the hot tub located in full view. The description said the hot tub was located in a private setting and that is no exaggeration. Thank you for this place. We will definitely rent here again. (too bad it's booked up during the holidays, otherwise we would have taken it then, for sure.) Thanks again! Sherry & Phil

      Homeowner Response:
It was our pleasure Sherry. We're happy you enjoyed the place. Please come back sometime.

    • My husband and I enjoyed 4 weeks in this wonderful house. The views are stunning from the kitchen and living room with the ski hill in your backyard. I would definitely recommend this gorgeous house for a short or long term stay.
