House is waterfront on sandy north beach of the Mississippi Sound. Island is only a few hundred yards wide at the west end & is surrounded by an actual sand beach on both sides(gulf on south side & sound on north). Enjoy the best of both worlds. Backyard/beach is also private on this side of island. Just a 1 minute walk to gulf beach w/deeded access.
This side of the island is preferred by a lot of people with its white sand beach, clear, calm, & shallow water. It is ideal for swimming or lounging on a raft on your private beach. Great beach for young children w/o the worries of large waves or currents. You could also, at your discretion, set up your umbrella & chairs and not be required to haul inside every night (this beach is your private property). You could also beach a small boat or waverunner in your back yard!
House features huge family room with soaring ceilings, dining room, spacious kitchen w/ island, 4 large downstairs bedrooms. Bedrooms feature a choice of sound & gulf views (queen's in three & three bunks in one. Master suite w/bath & walk in closet. The deck has awesome panoramic water views.
Dauphin Island is very laid back & non-commercialized, but has shops, a grocery store (and more, wander around around), bakery & several restaurants ranging from pizza, ice cream and burgers, to great seafood and steaks. ISLAND IS EASILY ACCESSIBLE BY BRIDGE. Mobile is a very historic seaport and has diversions aplenty. Gulf Shores/Fort Morgan is only a few miles away & is accessible by auto ferry (makes a great day trip) Be sure to bring treats to feed the hitchhiking birds..
For attractions, visit the Sea Lab, historic Fort Gaines, play a round of golf at the Isle Dauphine gulf-front course, view birds and wildlife & explore secluded beaches at the Audubon Sanctuary, fish on the beach or at the long gulf-front fishing pier, charter a boat for sightseeing or deep-sea fishing, swim, bike, walk, collect shells, or JUST PLAIN RELAX!
