One mile to the Hollywood Bowl. 25 minutes on the freeway will get you down to the beach. Strike out twenty minutes down through West Hollywood to the sleek attractions of Beverly Hills.
Or just lounge around at home, listen to the fountain trickle in the yard and enjoy free organic oranges and lemons from the tree!

If the house is listed as generally unavailable for rent, it is still worth making an offer a couple of weeks ahead for long weekend stays (Thurs-Tues) as we might use your visit as an incentive to go away for the weekend!

Why the Owner Chose Hollywood
This is the perfect spot to live in LA whether as a professional or a visitor. I bought this house after much thought because Hollywood Hills East is a charming, characterful, leafy young family neighborhood which is located right in the center of the action! You can reach all film studios, The Hollywood Bowl, hiking, restaurants and shopping within minutes. Yes when you're at home, you're totally relaxed with no hectic urban vibe. Six years on my property has kept its value and I know why!
The Unique Benefits at this House

Rare, leafy, large yard and outside 'living room' overlooking a trickling pond surrounded by roses and lemon trees. Inside and outside dining tables, plus a lunch table under the trees. If you like spotting film and TV stars there are five famous ones on this street alone.... Enjoy our collection of up to the minute free DVD screeners from the Academy. And.....breakfast!
Home of the Oscars, the Hollywood and Highland Mall and the Renaissance Hotel and Spa
Cafes and shops galore....including Gelsons, dry cleaners, diners, sports bars, bookstores....
Go horseriding across to the valley on a quiet pony trek or choose to go faster! Get off for Mexican food and tie your hoss up outside the restaurant then ride back by moonlight....

We enjoyed our stay at 1967 Van Ness during the month of August. The house (air conditioned by day and refreshing breezes in the evening) accommodated our extended family (6 adults,2 children aged 2 and a half) comfortably and afforded us the space for privacy when needed. Two spacious bathrooms, two television rooms , two kitchens, quiet corners, a piano and a shaded backyard (complete with dining table, lawn swing and patio furniture) enclosed by tall hedges provided us with opportunities to simultaneously pursue different interests. Starting our day by waking to the beautiful bougainvillea outside our bedroom window was a treat. Lemon. fig and pommela fruit trees furnished breakfast supplements. A fenced in front yard allowed the children to play safely . The proximity (20 minute walk) to hiking paths, to bookstores, entertainment, restaurants, and a grocery store made a vehicle unnecessary. The quiet neighbourhood afforded pleasant walks and the Hollywood hills, minutes from the door step, provided challenging inclines for those who enjoy aerobic workouts.

Arriving to this getaway was a drained, hot, sweaty, irritated local girl, running late from vacating her home in studio city for the dreaded termite tenting experience. Tired and unable to navigate very well, I found my way to a very easy to locate destination. It was late at night, and with my two little canine children, I found myself desperate for the comfort of home. With the stars aligned and my angels looking after me, I landed at the big green house. Dark as space it was, in the foothills of hollywood, but Patrick and Zoe were kind enough to guide me through the backyard oasis and straight away into to my nest. A quick tour of the guest wing of the house and super friendly greeting was the appetizer to a truly sensuous main dish of getaway living. Tired did I mention I was? Yes, I wanted to collapse. So after getting settled, I showered in a spacious terra cotta shower fully stocked with heavenly scented lily white towels, european soaps, and candles, and then slipped into the fanciest, softest yet firm enough bed that had pillows from heaven that offered amazing neck comfort no matter where I turned. Not to mention the aroma therapy floating around the bed, it was a fresh, sweet pea aroma that rose from the linens surrounding my senses. I was probably just exhausted, but I could sware that bed took me by the hand into the ecstasy of neverneverland. I wasn't just escaping a termite tenting ordeal, I was on vacation! the layout of the guest wing is high end euro-ikea design mixed with a hint of shabby chic with a slice of a hotel room vibe. Love the kitchenette, all stainless and new, dishwasher, stove, fridge, new and stylish dish ware, and i found everything to be just really tasteful and thoughtful in what they provide for guests. Its got everything you can imagine needing, even olive oil, a fancy coffee maker, a baking pan and other cooking utensils, robes and even alka seltzer! but it's the bed that will keep me coming back for no reason other than a good nights sleep! Thank you Zoe, it was a truly special four nights, sorry to have it end.

We have three adult children whom we visit in Hollywood from NY. We have previously stayed at hotels in the Hollywood area but chose to rent your home during this last visit. It reminded us of homes we have rented in Europe which ooze charm. It far exceeds a hotel in privacy, convenience of location, flexibility, comfort, and charm. It was as advertised and more. We’ll be back!
Owner response:I am delighted you had a good time! We'll look forward to seeing you next time you want to come to LA...

It was love at first sight. I visit LA often and recently needed a place located in the nicer part of Hollywood (also near hip Silver Lake and charming Los Feliz) that also would be a peaceful oasis - a place that would not only be comfortable, but would be a place we wouldn't even want to leave during a long weekend getaway. Well, we didn't want to leave, period. Located on a quiet street (with speed bumps), this Craftsman home is clean, uncluttered and superbly and tastefully equipped. Parking is free and ample - a rare commodity in LA. But what makes this house truly special are the numerous ways to enjoy the gorgeous grounds - from the front deck overlooking a lush and landscaped yard (fenced); from the outdoor sofa swing beneath lemon trees in the glorious back garden; or looking out on the back garden from the welcome cool shade of the covered back patio (furnished with a large rustic dining table and a low day bed, as well as other comfy chairs and a large, low coffee table). So, whether you're looking for a base for exploring Hollywood and the surrounding areas, or a place to luxuriate while enjoying fresh produce from a nearby farmer's market followed by a movie from the extensive media library, you will be very happy with this gem of a home. Last but certainly not least, Zoe and Patrick could not have been nicer nor easier to work with.
Owner response:Thanks so much guys --- please come back next time you're in town!

We had such a wonderful time staying here! We were a touch nervous coming so far from England for the first time, but I am so glad we went with this house and not a hotel or a flat. First, Zoe is right, it is so close to everything we wanted to see, and whenever we got home there was parking on the street (our friends were down the rd in an apartment and found it so hard to park) The house is bigger than it looks on the pictures and is so relaxing and cosy. The outside back covered porch is so great for being outdoors yet protected from the sun, and we had happy suppers out there. The TV system has so many film channels and the house has films on DVD which were still in the cinema in england! We loved going to see the studios. We found this to be a great deal and well worth the money. Hope to come back!
Owner response:You were wonderful guests who left the place immaculate! Return anytime. Thank you!
