CANOE COTTAGE is a wonderful, beautifully decorated home with mountain vistas close to ALL the amenities inside Big Canoe. Walk or take a short ALWAYS SCENIC drive! Enjoy every comfort in a spectactular setting! You can prepare dine-in favorites, dine out or have your meals catered with the utmost ease. Nature here provides deer, bear, wild turkeys,wildflowers, plants and seasons to amaze you.
Canoe Cottage has three levels with well appointed mountain style furnishings. The master bedroom is on the main level. The cottage has modern appliances and granite counter tops with oak wood floors and pine wood paneling. Amenities include AC, satellite reception for 4 televisions with DVDs, secure WiFi, free long distance. It has 2 gas log stone fireplaces plus a gas grill on the back deck. There are grab bars in all baths, a full length mirror and luggage racks in each bedroom.
As you enter from the cottage front porch, you see the kitchen to the left and the dining room to the right as well as the entrance to a screened porch with rustic stone gas log fireplace. The screened porch opens to scenic wood deck with gas grill and outdoor dining area. The pine wood paneled living room has vaulted ceilings and plush furnishings, features an attractive gas log stone fireplace and a large picture window. The master suite includes jetted bath and shower, double vanities, and has a queen bed with private outdoor balcony off the bedroom, perfect to enjoy your morning coffee or later view the stars. There is a guest half-bath off the hall from the living room useful when entertaining drop-in guests.
The upper level features great views from the loft's large picture window as well from the adjacent bedroom's double windows. This bedroom has twin beds. There is a full bath. The office/sitting area overlooks the living room. The double doored storage closet has a card table and four wood folding chairs for your use and there are books and games displayed on the loft's built in cabinet shelves.
The lower level has two bedrooms, each with a queen bed and its own connecting bath. There is a wonderful den with leather sofa and love seat, authentic wine barrel coffee table, a wood serving bench and a large HD-screen television. There is also an ample laundry room. Adjacent to the den is a spacious covered patio area with seating for groups. Here you can also store lake and hiking supplies.
Kids and adults can strole from Canoe Cottage down to one of several lake beaches. Here, you will find an outdoor pool, snack bar and food pavilion, water rock slide and Fitness Center. Or, gather together at the gazebo picnic area inside Laurel Ridge. Explore the hiking trails, friendly community center, chapel, and lending library or enjoy a concert in the ampitheater. There is indoor and outdoor tennis, racket ball, bocce ball, two children's playgrounds, basketball, baseball, soccer, and jogging trails. Enjoy fine and casual dining inside the majestic golf clubhouse and just outside the gate. Big Canoe is close to antique shopping, rafting, speed boating, horse back riding and so much more. - Boating inside Big Canoe includes rental paddle boats, row boats, electric power party boats, canoes. Swimming is outside in pools and lakes. The Fitness Center has water aerobic classes in it's indoor pool. Two large outdoor pools have eating pavilions plus special kids fun splash. (A free form pool includes an infant section.) Life Guards In-Season are at water fall rock slide and outdoor pools. Fitness Center has gym, squash and racket ball courts, indoor tennis courts, heated indoor junior olympic pool. Enjoy our outdoor basketball court, jogging trails, baseball and softball fields, outdoor tennis and bocce ball courts,and nature walks. We enjoyed our stay in the house during the Oktoberfest festivities. Great location within the Big Canoe community. Plenty of space within the house, comfy beds and updated appliances/bathrooms. Corner lot, so kids ran around without having to be in the street. Only issue was TV did not get our GA DAWG football game, but was able to go down to the local bar/restaurant, sat outside and watched the game from there. Make sure you bring ALL your food with you as nearest grocery is about 20 minutes away.
Owner response:We are glad that you enjoyed the house and hope that you will come back again. We do not allow Dawg football telecasts in any of our houses; just kidding, kind of. Thanks for the note about the grocery store because I want renters to buy everything that they need before they get into Big Canoe.
