This is a beautiful, newly-renovated (2009) 2-Bedroom, 2-Bath house right on a gorgeous, wide Pacific beach that runs 10 miles (20 km) from Montanita in the south to San Jose in the north. Curia is a peaceful little town 2 km (1 mi.) north of Olon, 5 km (3 mi.) north of Montanita, 184 km (114 miles) from Guayaquil. It is a 2.5 hour drive by car or by convenient, comfortable express bus ride from Guayaquil and the international airport. Express bus terminal is 2 minutes from Guayaquil Int’l airport.
Montanita is famous for its great surfing beach, fun nightlife with excellent restaurants, bars and shopping. Good beach break surfing can also be enjoyed right in front of the house! The beach is gently sloping, so that close-in surf is gentle, safe for children. Large upstairs deck is perfect for dining and parties, providing long views up and down the beach. Enjoy breakfast on the balcony, watch whales when they come through, and watch the sunset over dinner! Concierge service is provided by the next-door neighbors who are top restaurateurs and excellent cooks, offering frequent neighborhood cookouts, tours and shopping trips.
There are two small convenience stores in Curia and a fresh produce truck that parks 100 meters from the house every other day, offering a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Fresh-caught fish is sold on the beach. Taxis are on call for you day and night, offering discount rates.
Cell phone and high-speed internet are available at the house. Curia also has an internet cafe. There are two ATM's in Montanita.
Upstairs front bedroom opens onto the huge balcony. Queen-size bed. Back upstairs bedroom has two twin beds and a double bed, sleeps 4. Full bath in between.
Full bath downstairs, fully equipped kitchen and living room with DVD player, large TV, CD player and iPod stereo dock with speakers. Convertible sofa can sleep 2. Bedroom with private bath is attached to back of house with separate entrance and ocean view. Guard/manager/concierge lives there separate from house.
Landscaped yard with coconut palms, hammocks, garden. Surrounded by a wall for privacy with a gate to beach and a north gate for car entrance.

Why the Owner Chose Montanita
I grew up on the Pacific Coast of Northern California and I love the ocean. I also love Latin America, having studied Spanish and Latin culture through high school, University and beyond. When I saw this beach and this house I fell in love with both of them. I also love Ecuador, which has such a rich and diverse culture, and warm, wonderful people, natural beauty, and low cost of living. The little town of Curia in particular is a great place to enjoy a vacation because it is so friendly, peaceful, safe, charming and interesting. The local neighbors are all kind, friendly people and there are lots of interesting American, Canadian and European expats there as well. I enjoy sharing with my guests the experience of living there on that beautiful beach.

You can walk for miles on the beautiful beach and watch fishermen hauling in their catch. You can buy fresh produce and tropical fruits from a truck that comes to the little town every other day. You can buy fresh-caught fish from vendors on the beach and at night you can enjoy the fun, energetic night life and diverse cuisine of Montanita.

I spend most of the year at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa where I do volunteer work. I have a Ph.D in psychology, have taught psychology at the university level, published several scientific research studies, one of them in four countries, and presented research at the annual Convention of the American Psychological Association. I have taught the Transcendental Meditation program throughout the USA, Europe and Asia. I go back and forth between Latin America and the USA several times a year. I grew up on the Pacific Coast of Northern California and love the Pacific Ocean. The Pacific Coast of Ecuador is one of my favorite places in the world.
