This is a beautiful, recently-renovated (2009) 2-3-Bedroom, 2-3-Bath house right on a gorgeous, wide Pacific beach that runs 10 miles (20 km) from Montanita in the south to San Jose in the north. Enjoy a fun-filled, relaxing Ecuadorian vacation right on a beautiful beach among friendly, peaceful people, with plenty of amenities--and all this at bargain rates!
Curia is a peaceful little town 2 km (1 mi.) north of Olon, 5 km (3 mi.) north of Montanita, 184 km (114 miles) from Guayaquil. It is a 2.5 hour drive by car or by convenient, comfortable express bus ride from Guayaquil and the international airport. Express bus terminal is 1/2 mile from Guayaquil Int’l airport.
Montanita is famous for its great surfing beach, fun nightlife with excellent restaurants, bars and shopping. Good beach break surfing and surfing lessons can also be enjoyed right in front of the house! The beach is gently sloping, so that close-in surf is gentle, safe for children. Large upstairs deck is perfect for dining and parties, providing long views up and down the beach. Enjoy breakfast on the balcony, watch whales when they come through, and watch the sunset over dinner! Concierge service is provided by neighbors who can arrange tours and various activities such as surfing lessons, kayaking, scuba diving, horseback riding, sport fishing, canopy tour and shopping trips.
There are two small convenience stores in Curia and two fresh produce trucks that park 100 meters from the house 6 days a week, offering a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Fresh-caught fish is sold on the beach. Taxis are on call day and night, offering low rates.
Cell phone, internet and laptop computer are available at the house (contact owner regarding internet service for studio apartment). Curia also has an internet cafe 200 meters (yards) from the house (connection is faster there). In nearby Montanita there are two ATM's, a bank, numerous internet cafe's and many excellent restaurants with bargain prices.
Upstairs front bedroom opens onto the huge balcony. Queen-size bed. Back upstairs bedroom has two twin beds. Full bath in between.
Full bath downstairs, fully equipped kitchen and living room with DVD player & DVD library, large monitor, CD player/radio with ipod dock and auxiliary speakers. Convertible sofa can sleep 2. STUDIO APARTMENT with private bath is attached to back of house with separate entrance and ocean view. Double bed in studio apartment, kitchenette. Why the Owner Chose Montanita
I grew up on the Pacific Coast of Northern California and I love the ocean. I also love Latin America, having studied Spanish and Latin culture through high school, University and beyond. When I saw this beach and this house I fell in love with both of them. I also love Ecuador, which has such a rich and diverse culture, and warm, wonderful people, natural beauty, and low cost of living. The little town of Curia in particular is a great place to enjoy a vacation because it is so friendly, peaceful, safe, charming and interesting. The local neighbors are all kind, friendly people and there are lots of interesting American, Canadian and European expats there as well. I enjoy sharing with my guests the experience of living there on that beautiful beach.

You can buy fresh produce and tropical fruits from a truck that comes to the little town every other day. You can buy fresh-caught fish from vendors on the beach and at night you can enjoy the fun, energetic night life and diverse cuisine of Montanita.

I spend most of the year at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa where I do volunteer work. I have a Ph.D in psychology, have taught psychology at the university level, published several scientific research studies, one of them in four countries, and presented research at the annual Convention of the American Psychological Association. I have taught the Transcendental Meditation program throughout the USA, Europe and Asia. I go back and forth between Latin America and the USA several times a year. I grew up on the Pacific Coast of Northern California and love the Pacific Ocean. The Pacific Coast of Ecuador is one of my favorite places in the world.

I spent the month of March in Bob's house and had an absolutely wonderful time. The house itself is great..right on the beach with an amazing large balcony off of the master bedroom overlooking the ocean. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious, clean, and modern. Bob is very quick to respond to any questions or concerns and does everything he can to make you feel comfortable. The town of La Curia is small, with very friendly locals. They were very understanding and took the time to assist, even thought I barely spoke any Spanish. Olon and Montanita are only a 3-5 minute bus ride away. I highly recommend this house for anyone that wants a quiet beachfront experience with easy access to nightlife and restaurants.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.
