We can all agree that Hanalei Bay Resort is the best place to stay on Kauai, and now you just discovered the condominium that is the best value for your vacation dollar. All HBR condo owners pay the highest monthly maintenance fees on the island to support the ground’s luscious tropical landscaping - so why not sit ringside and survey the magnificent tropical foliage right form your lanai. On your top floor lanai you’ll feel like Hawaiian Royalty as you stand eye level to the coconut palm trees and gaze across the majestic pool, then past Hanalei Bay and finally resting your eyes on the distant remarkable waterfalls of Bali Hai. You'll not walk far to the amazing open air bar and restaurant. The lagoon shaped pool with its romantic waterfalls and secluded sand bottom spa support privacy for your dreamy get-a-way. The buildings are laid out on the grounds with a mindful eye toward seclusion, and you’ll have to stretch your neck from your doorway to see other condo buildings on the property. Don’t forget the beach path which winds past the 8 tennis courts also has an optional shuttle service for those in a hurry.
This top floor condo unit is connected by a ‘lock out’ doorway with a king bed on the kitchenette side and two double beds in the adjoining room. Both recently renovated rooms are individually air conditioned with separate bathrooms, 42” widescreen TV’s with DVD players. The kitchenette includes undercounter refrige and powerful microwave and toasteroven suitable for light eating. Large capacity washers, dryers and icemaker are located at the building’s lower floor adjacent to the parking. The condo is located in the “Bougainvillea”, the second building past the main lobby. There are many buildings (all named after Hawaiian plants) on the resort grounds but having close access to parking is definitely a luxury. Parking is immediately behind the building so you don’t have to hike your luggage across to the opposite side of the resort like renters to other buildings. It is a short drive to grocery stores, restaurants, gift shops, kayak rentals, surf shops and of course legendary Princeville golf course. But with the great view, bar and restaurant, you’ll never want to leave the thoughtful staff and beautiful surroundings.
The following comments were taken from the condo’s online Guestbook:
“We stayed in this glorious condo unit 2306 for six days and it really has one of the best views across the resort grounds. The top floor was very quiet and romantic. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay or a better value for our dollar.” Tom and Kathy , 9/08

“Wow, this place is gorgeous! We rented out both sides of the suite 2305-and 2306– our three kids stayed in the two twin beds and we took the king. It was fantastic because we both had our own separate wide screen TV’s and DVD players to unwind for the evening. Although my husband and I would sneak out to the lounge to hear live Hawaiian music while enjoying good food and drink. The kids didn’t want to leave the pool and hot tub to go sightseeing. The beach was calm and sunsets breathtaking. We definitely recommend this condo and resort.” The Chase Family, March 2009

“The Resort doesn’t have elevators so we carried our suitcases up the stairs with help from the friendly bell hop. For the rest of our stay the parking was close and not a problem. The top floor view was worth every step and the view was remarkable. The doors to the lanai opened at least six feet so that you were immediately connected to the swaying palm trees, and the shear curtain option made the room instantly romantic. We ate breakfast and lunch on the lanai and the kitchenette sufficed for the preparation and storage of all our food. We listened to the Hawaiian lounge music on our lanai each night till 9:00 and often took a late night stroll through the torched lit walkways and ended up relaxing in the spacious spa. We appreciated the beauty of the condo and hope to repeat this vacation next year.” Lily and Marcus, April 09

“My husband and I just arrived back home from our 10 day honeymoon in your wonderful Kauai condo. I am constantly looking at the pictures to reassure myself it wasn’t a dream. We couldn’t imagine a better resort or better condo to stay in. The lanai has to be one of the most romantic places on the planet. The sunset views from the restaurant are framed by the surrounding topography which you have to see to believe. No pictures can do this place justice because of the serenity and immense natural beauty. The evening live music was an unexpected treat and to open air lounge and restaurant was a Hawaiian treasure. We will recommend this condo to everyone! Mary W. August 09

“Unfortunately we arrived during a downpour but we got to see the resulting glorious rainbows and twelve different energized waterfalls across to the mountains. We walked around Hanalei bay, kayaked along the river and had a delicious Hawaiian shaved ice. This was just the start of a magnificent vacation. We enjoyed the condo immensely and celebrated our anniversary in the spa with our feet in the sandy bottom and our backs under the waterfall. It was great fun and I recommend the resort and condo to anyone with great vacation plans.” Jackie R. 9/09

Best Resort View from Newly Restored Top Floor Unit
Year Purchased: 2003
Why the Owner Chose Hanalei Bay Resort
Some of the other island resorts are either too large and impersonal, or they are too far from the ocean. Hanalei Bay Resort offers everything the larger resorts have but they also have a small resort feel within an AMAZING building site lay out. The beach is a short walk down past the tennis courts and a great place to explore. The sunset views from the restaurant or bar are breathtaking, and the pool and spa both are 'over the top' with unique cascading waterfalls. All the plants are green and the flowers colorful and fragrant. Hanalei Bay Resort has friendly staff, quick bell hop service and fabulous grounds to walk around.
Families are welcome. An open bar with lots of great food and daily live music. Terrific views from here and the Bali Hai Restaurant- which is closed but still open to enjoy the best island sunset vie
Very relaxing and romantic place to enjoy breakfast lunch or diner and watch the most amazing sunsets Kauai has to offer.
We've always walked the paved path down to the beach but some prefer the shuttle. Just use the beach entrance phone to call the front desk and they'll be right down.
Owner's Map of Hanalei Bay Resort
My wife and I invested in this Hanalei Bay Resort condo in 2003 after spending many years enjoying family vacations there. We live in Seattle and have spent a most of May and June 2009 working hard to completely refurbish and update the condo to make your vacation visits comfortable and care free. We appreciate the thoughtful letters acknowledging the uniqueness of this property and welcome comments on how to make it even more fabulous. We personally enjoy the lush tropical plants unique to Kauai's north end, and Hanalei Bay Resort gives special attention to preserving this special setting. We also come for the relaxing trade winds, close beach with great snorkeling, the fabulous tennis courts and the nightly entertainment. We both wish you have the most amazing vacation ever.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 days celebrating our 25th anniversary and couldn't ask for more. The property is beautiful and the room was awesome. We loved the beach and relaxing at the pool after a busy day of sightseeing. The lanai was nice and large and we enjoyed spending time on it eating or enjoying a beverage. Dave was great to work with and communication was great. Would definitely return here!
Owner response:The condo has a lockout and is also available as a studio or hotel room. Thanks for taking the time to write a review and for acknowledging that even renting a single bedroom can be a wonderful experience. Aloha, Dave

This was our 5th trip to Kauai's north shore and I'm glad I didn't give up on finding the perfect vacation spot. The condo was perfectly suited for our family with two teenage girls, who loved having their own large comfortable beds and not having to sleep on a sofa bed or up in a loft. The view off the lanai was even more amazing than the VRBO website pictures, and the condo was updated and very fresh. The girls discovered the tennis rackets David left there and when we weren't playing tennis we were enjoying the pool and spa. Every morning we would eat breakfast on the lanai and every evening we would walk to the beach to watch the sunset and walk back up again to find the Resort's pathways lit up with tiki torches, it was really magical. Mike and I would sneak out in the evening hours to have some quiet time in the spa while the girls watched movies on the wide screen TV. We were really sad to leave the condo but take home great memories and the knowledge that we know exactly where to come again next year. I'm just not sure we can wait that long! I just arrived home after an eleven day celebration with my two sister's and a niece, of my youngest sister's birthday and I had to tell you that we had a great time and our accommodations were perfect . We stayed at your top floor condo with a "lock out" doorway which allowed us easy entry to both sides of the condo or privacy for each side if needed. Due to the condo location, we were able to park very close to our stairway which had very wide and low rise steps. I found this very helpful since I recently had knee surgery; the bell hops were very helpful in transporting our bags. The condo was wonderful! The first impression of the rooms was one of delight that the rooms were so clean and bright. I appreciated that the bathroom area was divided into a separate changing area apart from the toilet and shower/bath area. There were clean and plentiful towels and wash cloths. The bed linens were also very clean and the beds were so comfortable that I slept peacefully the first night. Each side of the condo had it's own lanai and we could choose to look out into all the tropical trees and down onto the pool and beautifully landscaped and maintained grounds of the resort, or over onto the Hanalei bay and beach. We viewed several early morning rainbows, one morning a double one, close up views of interesting and colorful tropical birds and gorgeous sunsets from our lanais. We spent lots of time in and by the pool which had lots of room to swim, an exhilarating waterfall we could stand in and a secluded sand bottom hot tub we relaxed in. We enjoyed walking over the pathways between lush plantings of hibiscus, plumeria, oleander, bougainvillea and other beautiful tropical plants too numerous to mention. This condo was truly a great find; the ideal place to stay in Kauai. Kathy from Philly 5/29/11
Owner response:Thanks Kathy for the kind words; I receive lots of emails from renters but few take the time to respond directly to the VRBO website after they come home from their vacation. I'm glad you had a good time and come back again. Mahalo, David
