A Room of One's Own is a a Personal Retreat Center on the North Shore of Lake Superior. This cozy cottage is ideal for a one or two-person retreat. Embraced by nature, it is quiet enough to hear the sound of your inner voice; located just feet from the shore of Lake Superior. It is best rented by anyone wanting a refreshing break from the busy-ness of everyday life.
A Room of One's Own is a self-catering cottage. Cooking utensils, plates, pots are provided. The amenities include: microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, hot plate, small refrigerator, ¾ bath and a full-size bed. And with a rocking chair overlooking the lake you discover how simple life can be.
Outside the cottage you will find a hot tub, 2 decks, cobblestone beach and seasonal stream. The Cascade Beach Road is a 5-mile gravel road great for hiking, biking and jogging. The Superior Hiking Trail is a short walk from the property and there are miles of other trails for hiking, mountain biking and skiing.

We do not take credit cards. Payment by check or cash.
Two night rental minimum.
To secure a reservation, a deposit for $125 is required.
Your deposit, minus a $25 admin fee, is refunded only if you cancel
more than 30 days prior to your stay.

Year Purchased: 1994
The cottage is owned by Tom Christiansen and Marcia Hyatt. Tom built the cottage as a guest cabin. Then they lived in it while they built their home adjacent to the cottage. Tom is a sculptor. Marcia is a leadership coach. They also run an art gallery in Lutsen.

The air is amazingly clean, the pace is slower, the scenery is stunning and the wild life is abundant. See moose, wolves, deer, cougars, fox, coyotes.
