What a Great Place!

Guest: Nature Lover (Flushing, MI)
Date of Stay: 07/23/11 Review Submitted: 07/29/11

This is a very comfortable cabin that easily accommodated our family of 4. (You could easily bring a larger family here!) I was impressed by the number of items that were provided for us, including dishwasher detergent, laundry soap, paper towel, spices, etc. The kitchen was very well stocked as well - you really only need to bring your own food. I was a little concerned booking a vacation for my family in the UP, wondering if we'd have enough to do. This certainly was not the case! In fact, there were several things we wanted to do that we just ran out of time for. Manistique is a nice town, with a decent variety of restaurants, nice playgrounds/parks, a movie theather, shops, etc. My husband and I both have stressful jobs and enjoyed the opportunity to relax & enjoy the beautiful area with our children.

Owner response:We are so glad you enjoyed your time in the UP! The UP is definitely Michigan hidden treasure.

Luxury at the door of the wilderness

Guest: Jane (Bryan, Ohio)
Date of Stay: 07/10/10 Review Submitted: 07/22/10

My family and I stayed at this home July 10-17, 2010 and found it to be the best place we have stayed in Michigan - and that is over a 12 year period. The price was very reasonable and the accomodations were very nice. The property was very clean and well-maintained. Plenty of room for our group of four, with the teens sleeping downstairs and hubby and I upstairs in our own master suite with bath. The king bed sits exactly opposite of the large upper front windows. Truely, just raising one's head in the a.m. offers a spectacular view of the lake. All but the bathrooms and downstairs bedrooms have a wonderful view of the lake and beach. There was plenty of closet space and dressers so we could stow the suitcases and not live half our of suitcases. The kitchen is wonderfully stocked with dinnerwarer, cook/bakeware - right down to a great assortment of spices. Ample cupboard space for a week's worth of groceries was nice. Having the full-size W/D was very nice, as was having the sweeper, etc... to keep things tidy. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and reading, sunning, napping - all the while to the sounds of the waves and the lake breezes. Two huge bald eagles flew over the deck and landed for a brief while right out front. Had we only had our cameras at hand! We are beach lovers and enjoyed walking the limestone shoreline, interspersed with areas of sand. The shoreline to the east of the cabin is just gorgeous with its diverse ecosystems. Saw osprey and heard coyotes at night. And the stars? Unbelieveable! Truely! I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for affordable luxury with the benefits of the wilderness truly around the bend and the convenience of a nice grocery store (w/reasonable prices) and shopping just 5 miles away. This property is very quiet and peaceful. Yet well-stocked with games for the kids adn books for all ages. Thank you to the owners for offering this beautiful place at which to retreat, relax, and reconnect. Other: We enjoyed eating at 3 Seasons Restaurant. We also visited Crisp Point Lighthouse on Lake Superior - well worth the day trip and the 18 miles of dirt road to reach it off the highway. Lovely beach and agate hunting. We began that day with a visit to Seney Wildlife Refuge in the morning, going on to Tacquamenon Falls and lunching at the brew pub before heading to Crisp Point Lighthouse. It was a full day, but very much enjoyed.

Perfect Spot!!!

Guest: matk (Evart, MI)
Date of Stay: 03/22/10 Review Submitted: 04/02/10

The owners of this beautiful log home describe this property exactly. If anything, the pictures don't do this log home justice! It was clean, comfortable, and a great location. It provided the perfect getaway for me and my wife. We enjoyed sleeping in on the giant bed, watching movies on the flat screen, cozying up next to the fireplace, and exploring the beach! We also loved seeing the Big Spring, Pictured Rocks, and Munising Falls. We couldn't have asked for a better spot and the owners were extremely friendly and helpful!

What a fantastic time we had exploring the U.P. from this beautiful cottage, truly just steps from majestic Lake Michigan! This property was everything we hoped for - and more. Wonderfully maintained, beautifully located - other than the food we brought, there wasn't a thing we needed while we were here! Walks on the beach, fires in the fireplace, easy day trips to the stunning natural wonders that comprise Michigan's Upper Peninsula - this was the perfect spot for a perfect family vacation. We can't wait to come back again...
