Why the Owner Chose Mauna Lani Terrace
In June of 2003 we sold a beach property in California and needed to replace it with a property on the Big Island. Since I was a real estate broker here since 1979, I had a unique knowledge of every luxury condo complex on the Kohala coast and knew that nothing compared to Mauna Lani Terrace. Sandy and I toured the 7 or 8 Terrace condos for sale at the time. We will never forget the day that we opened the door of H303. We could see down the hall through the living room we saw a view that took our breath away, the most beautiful ocean view that we had ever seen. It was love at first sight. Sadly, it was the most expensive of all of the condos that we viewed. More then we thought we could afford. However, with my many years of experience negotiating real estate, we miraculously made the deal. To this day, when we walk through the front door of that exquisite condo, we still can't believe it is ours. We love to share it with our dear guests, many of whom have become long time friends.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
Number 1 is the view. No other condo can boast an equal view of the ocean, fish ponds and palm trees. Every room as a view. The H building is considered the prime location in the Terrace. It is a 7 minute walk to the right to the Mauna Lani Hotel with it's restaurants and the white sand beach in front of it. A 7 minute walk to the left takes you by the royal fish ponds to the beautiful white sand horse shoe shaped bay with pristine coral reefs and multitudes of colorful reef fish and turtles. A 2 to 3 minute walk takes you to the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and barbecue area. The top floor location of H303 affords the maximum privacy, security and view. Ground floor units have no privacy or security from people walking by and looking in. Being a corner unit, there is a view, sunlight and ventilation from the side providing a much more open airy feeling. Tastefully decorated with an Asian-tropical flair. 100 year old antique Chinese hutch. We have been upgrading H303 from the day of purchase. New porcelain tile throughout the condo,imported hand made wool rug from Nepal, new kitchen with new Bosch washer and dryer, new Thermador oven-microwave,GE Profile 5 burner glass cook top,granite counters, tile back splash. Since one of Sandy's passions is baking and cooking,the gourmet kitchen is exceptionally well equipped. Bathrooms, new tile on walls and glass blocks to let more light in. Master shower completely replaced with larger designer shower.Paid local artist $1000 to design and etch glass shower door with unique floral design.New flat screen TVs in living room and bedrooms. Wireless internet connection.

Dave and Sandy have been the proud owners of Mauna Lani Terrace H303 since June, 2003. Because we live 45 minutes away from it, we use it for a second home also. By staying in it as often as possible, Sandy can continue to think of ways to make it more comfortable and luxurious. She has supervised the extensive remodeling over the past two years. As 31 years residents of West Hawaii, we have a unique insight into what pleases visitors to our Paradise. About 50% of our rental days are return guests. Many of them had already discovered Mauna Lani Terrace. Once they stay in H303, they virtually always return to it.

Great Penthouse Unit & Nice Owners

Our family of 4 stayed for Spring Break week in April of 2011 and we all had a **wonderful** vacation - thanks to the very scenic, very roomy and very well-equipped condo we rented from Dave & Sandy. I'm not an experienced VRBO renter so I was cautious and careful about asking as many questions as possible before we booked, and we highly recommend the professional and pleasant experience we had in dealing with the owners. We also thought the husband/wife team who comes in to clean the condo while you're staying there were super nice people. The configuration of the king room & room w/ 2 twins was perfect for our family, and there were plenty of bath towels, beach towels, & sheets. The kids were able to watch DVDs in their room, as their bathroom was just the right size. We contributed a little footstool to the condo so the kids could reach the sink. I really (!) appreciated how well equipped the kitchen & laundry set-up was. The spices, leftover condiments and pantry foods are kept in the unit for the next set of guests - so it was great not to have to buy ketchup, sauces, jam, salt/pepper, spices etc. A very nice touch. Overall, you have the sense of staying in a "designer-quality" condo with all the amenties you'd hope to have included. The unit sits halfway between the Mauna Lani Resort & the "Little Beach" so the location was excellent. There were some sand toys & boogie boards in the patio cupboard which was helpful. The wraparound views were tremendous, and we enjoyed quite a bit of time on the various patios admiring the ocean, sunsets, fishponds & sunrises. I hope the unit is availabe for our next Spring Break in 2012 - because we'd love to come back!

We just returned from vacation which included a short stay at Dave and Sandy's Mauna Lani Terrace unit. Everything you've read in the other reviews is true--this unit has an ideal location just steps from both the pool and the beach. It was spacious, quiet, immaculately clean, and beautifully furnished. One thing that might be of interest to some: the air conditioning is both efficient AND practically silent. We only used it part of the time, but as I really hate rattly loud window units, this quiet central-air system was great. Grocery shopping and several restaurants are nearby, and we had the beach completely to ourselves! Dave and Sandy were very gracious hosts, and we'd love to come again. You will sit in the balcony every morning and just be amazed at your good fortune to be in such a great place.

After many years of vacationing at Mauna Lani Terrace, we were able to stay at Dave and Sandy's and must say it's the nicest condo of all. They thought of everything, making sure we had all the comforts of home and more! The condo is beautifully decorated and immaculate and the views from every window are amazing. The beaches, pool, fish ponds, local scuba diving and their beautiful condo made this a perfect getaway filled with many wonderful memories.

We have been going to the Mauna Lani Terrace for almost twenty years and this unit is truly one of the nicest properties we've ever stayed in! The layout and furnishings are wonderful and the views of the ocean and the pool area are unmatched. The owners had a beautiful basket of fruit and amazing Kona coffee waiting at our arrival and they checked in regularly with us to make sure we were well taken care of. We highly recommend this property and we'll definitely be back.

Hats off to Dave and Sandy, owners of unit H303 at Mauna Lani Terrace! What can we say to do it justice? Top floor with 200 degree view of beach, ocean, ancient royal fish ponds with jumping fish, and gorgeous plams. Not another unit with such a view. Secure and private, being on the end of the building. The location of the H building is the most convenient, a short walk to both beaches, the swimming pool and the hotel. Snorkeling was fantastic! The modern but comfortable decor and furnishings of the condo added to the ambience. My wife likes to cook, so the gourmet kitchen with granite tops and new appliances was heaven, particularly with the kitchen view of the ocean and a martini in hand. This was our second visit and there is now a super grocery store on the resort with anything you need for cooking and drinks. So, convenient. Dave and Sandy are the best of hosts! Available and helpful, but giving you your space and privacy. And if you meet Susan, the housekeeper it just adds to the Hawaiian experience and hospitality. Just don't take my next dates as we will definitely be back.

We have stayed in a number of units at the Mauna Lani and this is one of the top ones. It is well maintained and stocked with amenities. The owner is very responsive and accessible, and was always helpful with our questions. The Terrace is a great vacation spot for families, and we love returning here year after year.
