Gull Cottage
Welcome to our slice of heaven, Gull Cottage, a great beach house just 200 yds. from the ocean and pristine private beaches! Located in the private, gated community of Harbor Island, just 15 mins. from historic Beaufort SC, we are a waterview home at the end of a small cul-de-sac with the marsh and river on one side of us and the ocean at the other end of the street. Gull Cottage overlooks expansive marshes teeming with wildlife and the tranquil Harbor River. Our deck is the best spot on the island each evening to witness some of the most dramatic sunsets you will ever see!
Gull Cottage is a 3 BR/2.5 BA home that sleeps 6-8.
The master bedroom has a king size bed, walk-in closet, armoire with TV (satellite channels) and private bath with double vanities and an oversized shower. There is a porch directly off the master bedroom that overlooks the tidal creek and marshes.
The second guestroom has a queen-sized bed with bay window, and the third guestroom has 2 twin beds plus a trundle pullout(the trundle pullout is recommended only for a small child). The second and third guestrooms share a full size hall bath.
In the Great Room, there are 2 full sized sofas and one converts into another king-sized bed. With an overstuffed chair in the Great Room there is plenty of comfortable seating. The Great Room also has a large TV, satellite, VCR, and DVD. The dining room table seats 6-8 and there is additional seating for 3 at the breakfast bar.
Gull Cottage also has a pack-n-play crib, high chair, and optional barrier gates for small children.
Gull Cottage was professionally decorated. The house comes with all linens provided (except personal beach towels) and the house is professionally cleaned after each rental at no charge to you.
Harbor Island~~~
Harbor Island is a 1700-acre island about 15 miles east of Beaufort SC directly on the Atlantic Ocean and is a private gated community with over 2 miles of private beaches. We are a very friendly, family-oriented island.
The Harbor Island Beach & Tennis Club is a short walk from the house and has an oversized pool, kiddie pool, tennis courts, fitness center, weight room, playground, volleyball court, snack bar, and basketball area.
There is also a full service Day Spa near by!
Harbor Island, for those who haven’t experienced it before, is a welcomed relief if you are seeking a quiet place to recover from the hectic, bustling day-to-day pace. It’s that special place you remember vacationing with your own parents, and the perfect spot to make your own family memories or just relax by yourself.This is a very friendly and warm neighborhood that functions at bicycle and golf cart speed and where everyone, strangers included, wave to each other.
Things to Do~~~
In addition to the Beach& Racquet Club mentioned above, you can try your hand at crabbing from the community bridges or surf fishing along the beaches. For those early risers, the beachcombing is exceptional. There are 4 semi-private golf courses within a short distance, but for those who want to hit a few balls there is even a 100 yd. driving green.
Hunting Island is directly next to Harbor Island and is a state park complete with biking trails, hiking trails, a lighthouse where you can climb the stairs for a spectacular view, a fishing pier and a nature center. It is also one of the spots where Forrest Gump was filmed and is a designated Maritime Forest. Hunting Island is also the location for guided kayak and nature tours (kayaks are available to rent from the Kayak Farm)
Beaufort SC~~~
Beaufort is the second oldest city in South Carolina and is teeming with both historical and shopping adventures. Horse drawn carriage tours and walking tours of the historic district are available and “downtown” Beaufort by the bay offers wonderful boutique shopping, art galleries, and dining.
Day Trips~~~
Charleston SC and Savannah GA are both day trips, as is Hilton Head.
If you are looking for quality time in a quality place, this is it. We love Harbor Island and our Gull Cottage. We hope you will too!
