Casita Pataya is the ideal place for you if you enjoy convenience, peace and quiet. Located near Los Barriles but with none of the barking dogs or noisy traffic. You can relax on the covered patio enjoying views of the sea, watch the sun and moon rise over the water or scope out the different varieties of birds in the garden. Sounds of water from the pond/waterfall may lull you into taking a siesta.
Upscale furnishings provide you the best---comfortable bed, sofas, kitchen appliances. Just like home! Wireless internet and TV keep you informed and connected.
The yard is a virtual botanic garden with varieties of cacti, flowering shrubs and fruit trees. The owner's veggie garden is sure to be a source of goodies for your meals.
The beach is about a 5 minute walk and you can even walk that beach clear into town. Other walking/hiking areas are nearby as well as ATV rides, snorkeling, fishing and boating.
Kiting and Windsurfing are popular sports and we are located very close to the best area --North Beach. If not participating, watching the colorful kites on a windy afternoon is a fun thing to do.
Great little restaurants --very affordable --abound in Los Barriles. Ask the owner for clues as she has lived here 10 years and can give directions to out-of-the-way spots.
Well behaved pets are welcome as is a child. The sofa makes a nice bed for a little one so bring them along.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2005
I first visited Los Barriles in 2001 and fell in love with the area. There were few houses for sale at that time but the realtor said "If you have a good imagination we have one under construction". Well, I looked at this pile of concrete blocks and thought the house was nice but what caused a tremor in the pit of my stomach was the incredible view! It was awesome. Every direction gorgeous. I flew home to Colorado, called my 3 kids to get opinions and they all said, "When can we go?" So on Valentine's Day I emailed an offer on this incomplete house, got it accepted and moved in the following November. It was the best decision I ever made. Three years later I built the guest house which I named "Casita Pataya". It is on the same property but completely separate and private. Lots of changes have occurred in the area but I still love it and look forward to spending winters there every season.
Why the Owner Chose Los Barriles
For years I have traveled to various places "South of the Border". When I came to Los Barriles it felt like "home". It is a relatively small village with none of the big hotels and fast-food restaurants. The locals are friendly and helpful. Life is laid-back and peaceful and the weather can't be beat. What else could one want?
The Unique Benefits of this House
Gardening is a great love of mine. Here I can grow so many things that are impossible in Colorado where I am from. Oranges, papayas, grapefruit, mangos and even pistachios are some of the trees I have. The vegetable garden brings loads of tomatoes, green beans, broccoli, lettuce and many other things. This year I am planting some banana trees. In prior years I had chickens (for eggs) ducks and bunnies. All had babies and the local children often came to my "petting zoo".

This spotless casita is very roomy and bright, and is located in a quiet neighborhood with a spectacular view of the the sea. The yard is beautiful and peaceful and a great place to begin learning about the plants native to Baja. Pat is extremely knowledgeable and can answer just about any question you have about the area (if she can't, she'll find out). She hooked us up with fishing, restaurants, and pool along with answers to real estate questions we had. Thanks Pat. We're making plans for another visit.
Owner response:Thanks, Scott, for taking time to write a review. I appreciate it greatly and look forward to your return. Pat

Pat's casita was a wonderful, relaxing place to spend time. Loved sitting on the porch, watching the birds and taking in the view. It is also a good base for exploring the surrounding area; La Paz, Cabo San Lucas, etc. A fully equipped kitchen met our every need; although Los Barriles also has great places to eat. We ran out of time before we could get to all of them. We highly recommend this place and agree with all of the other 5 star reviews Pat has received.
Owner response:How great it was to get to know you. Glad you enjoyed Casita Pataya and hope to see you again. Pat

The casita was more than expected. It was comfortable and very clean with all the amenities. Hardly watched TV but it was available and the internet connections was great to have. We instantly felt at home and cooked more meals than we thought we would. A man came on Tuesdays selling fresh seafood that was to die for. Sunrises in the morning were incredible. Some great places to walk in the area. Very quiet neighborhood. Pat is an extremely gracious hostess who will do anything to help make your stay as enjoyable as possible. She is a wealth of information on the area. We did some fantastic snorkeling and often in the immediate area. There are so many good restaurants that we weren't able to hit them all. Would highly recommend this place to rent to family and friends. We truly enjoyed our month long stay.
Owner response:Only very nice, interesting people stay here --and Patty and Steve fit right in!!!

We returned to Casita Pataya after an absence of 2 years. We wondered why it had taken us so long. Love this place. It is so quiet and peaceful and comfortable. We loved the view, the deck, the gardens, the fresh vegetables supplied by Pat, the quiet nights with the cool breeze coming in the windows while you snuggled up under the duvet and watched the stars and full moon. Also a favorite time was watching the sunrise from the comfort of bed and then enjoying a morning coffee on the deck. The Casita has everything you need to be very comfortable. Los Barriles itself has much to offer in good places to eat and beautiful beaches as well as miles of trails to discover on your ATV. And last but not least is the Host Pat and, of course, Chloe. We feel that Pat has become a real friend. We will return again next year.

I so loved staying at Pats , her property is an oasis of sound , beauty and perfect harmony.. One of my favorite things was watching the sun rise from bed , then going back to sleep. waking in the middle of the night to star gaze , unbelievable blanket of stars. Walking the beach each day with my little dog Harley was extremely therapeutic . No matter what your life style and needs are , there is something for everyone. One can kick back with a book and listen to the ponds and birds or walk the beach to town and hang out at the resorts. There are many good places to eat and the Margs are always good .. I loved pat and her home away from home .. I wiil be back !!!! Thank you Pat you are a class act .. Sincerely Kymberlina

Fantastic 1-bedroom / 1-bathroom apartment with full "like home" kitchen, satellite TV, internet access, and view to die for! Way better than any hotel! Pat's offer of pick your own veggies from her garden was an unexpected bonus!

We spent only a week at Casita Pataya the first week of April and wished it could have been at least a month! Pat was a wonderful hostess and the Casita far surpassed our expectations. The casita and the gardens are gorgeous and extremely well kept. We woke up each morning to the birds and glorious sunrises. Each evening we enjoyed sitting on the palapa deck and watching the sunset and later enjoying the lights of Los Barilles in the distance. It was so peaceful. The views are awesome. We went fishing a couple days with Pats friend, Israel of Cuyuyo Fleet on his very nice super panga. We caught Dorado, Sail Fish, Red Snapper. It was some of the highest quality fishing we have ever done in over 10 years of fishing the southern Baja. The kitchen in the Casita was more than adequate for cooking our fish plus there is a nice BBQ area available. We already loved Los Barilles but now hope to make it an annual vacation destination. Plus, we feel like we have a new friend in Pat.
