Beautiful, peaceful, perfect!

We just returned from a 4 night stay at Casita Pataya. I cannot overstate how lovely it was. The apartment has all the amenities you could want, and the views from the porch are to die for. The casita is situated in a beautiful, extremely well-kept garden that attracts all the local birds. Pat has tons of information about the local restaurants and activities, and is happy to share her knowledge, as well as fresh produce from her gardens! This is the kind of place I almost don't want to review, because it was so wonderful I want to keep it to myself. We will definitely return. Thanks, Pat, for sharing your paradise!

The most relaxing vacation

This spotless casita is very roomy and bright, and is located in a quiet neighborhood with a spectacular view of the the sea. The yard is beautiful and peaceful and a great place to begin learning about the plants native to Baja. Pat is extremely knowledgeable and can answer just about any question you have about the area (if she can't, she'll find out). She hooked us up with fishing, restaurants, and pool along with answers to real estate questions we had. Thanks Pat. We're making plans for another visit.

Owner response:Thanks, Chris, for taking time to write a review. I appreciate it greatly and look forward to your return. Pat

Perfect place for a relaxing vacation. Sunrises on the balcony, morning walks on the beach and numerous restaurant choices in town. The casita is fully equipped and you immediately feel right at home. Easy access to beautiful beaches by car in both north and south directions. Pat is a gracious, helpful hostess.

Pat's casita was a wonderful, relaxing place to spend time. Loved sitting on the porch, watching the birds and taking in the view. It is also a good base for exploring the surrounding area; La Paz, Cabo San Lucas, etc. A fully equipped kitchen met our every need; although Los Barriles also has great places to eat. We ran out of time before we could get to all of them. We highly recommend this place and agree with all of the other 5 star reviews Pat has received.

Owner response:How great it was to get to know you. Glad you enjoyed Casita Pataya and hope to see you again. Pat

We returned to Casita Pataya after an absence of 2 years. We wondered why it had taken us so long. Love this place. It is so quiet and peaceful and comfortable. We loved the view, the deck, the gardens, the fresh vegetables supplied by Pat, the quiet nights with the cool breeze coming in the windows while you snuggled up under the duvet and watched the stars and full moon. Also a favorite time was watching the sunrise from the comfort of bed and then enjoying a morning coffee on the deck. The Casita has everything you need to be very comfortable. Los Barriles itself has much to offer in good places to eat and beautiful beaches as well as miles of trails to discover on your ATV. And last but not least is the Host Pat and, of course, Chloe. We feel that Pat has become a real friend. We will return again next year.

Terrific place to stay

The casita was more than expected. It was comfortable and very clean with all the amenities. Hardly watched TV but it was available and the internet connections was great to have. We instantly felt at home and cooked more meals than we thought we would. A man came on Tuesdays selling fresh seafood that was to die for. Sunrises in the morning were incredible. Some great places to walk in the area. Very quiet neighborhood. Pat is an extremely gracious hostess who will do anything to help make your stay as enjoyable as possible. She is a wealth of information on the area. We did some fantastic snorkeling and often in the immediate area. There are so many good restaurants that we weren't able to hit them all. Would highly recommend this place to rent to family and friends. We truly enjoyed our month long stay.

Owner response:Only very nice, interesting people stay here --and Patty and Steve fit right in!!!

I so loved staying at Pats , her property is an oasis of sound , beauty and perfect harmony.. One of my favorite things was watching the sun rise from bed , then going back to sleep. waking in the middle of the night to star gaze , unbelievable blanket of stars. Walking the beach each day with my little dog Harley was extremely therapeutic . No matter what your life style and needs are , there is something for everyone. One can kick back with a book and listen to the ponds and birds or walk the beach to town and hang out at the resorts. There are many good places to eat and the Margs are always good .. I loved pat and her home away from home .. I wiil be back !!!! Thank you Pat you are a class act .. Sincerely Kymberlina

Fantastic 1-bedroom / 1-bathroom apartment with full "like home" kitchen, satellite TV, internet access, and view to die for! Way better than any hotel! Pat's offer of pick your own veggies from her garden was an unexpected bonus!

We spent only a week at Casita Pataya the first week of April and wished it could have been at least a month! Pat was a wonderful hostess and the Casita far surpassed our expectations. The casita and the gardens are gorgeous and extremely well kept. We woke up each morning to the birds and glorious sunrises. Each evening we enjoyed sitting on the palapa deck and watching the sunset and later enjoying the lights of Los Barilles in the distance. It was so peaceful. The views are awesome. We went fishing a couple days with Pats friend, Israel of Cuyuyo Fleet on his very nice super panga. We caught Dorado, Sail Fish, Red Snapper. It was some of the highest quality fishing we have ever done in over 10 years of fishing the southern Baja. The kitchen in the Casita was more than adequate for cooking our fish plus there is a nice BBQ area available. We already loved Los Barilles but now hope to make it an annual vacation destination. Plus, we feel like we have a new friend in Pat.

Pat's place is a wonderful refuge, quiet, peaceful, and clean. You can watch the dolphins from the porch (with binoculars)with unobstructed view of the Sea of Cortes. The ocean is a 5 minute walk on sandy trails thru the nearby arroyo. And the stars look like you can touch them in the Baja sky. Plus Pat is a loveable soul who can help you find what you want in and around Los barriles.

As far as I am concerned, Pat's Casita is the best place to stay in Los Barriles. Great location, well-equipped, and very clean. We enjoyed the great views from the house, the peace and quiet, as well as the proximity to the beach and hiking.

You will enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the area. Pat has done an outstanding job of landscaping the property and furnishing the casitas. You have every kitchen gadget that you will need including a blender and cuisinart. You are located approximatley 1/4 mile from the beach. You can rent ATVs in town and/or charter a fishing boat. TIPS: Bring cash or your ATM card. All gas must be paid for in cash and there are virtually no merchants who accept credit cards in town. If you are flying into the San Juan airport and plan on staying for a week or two, you may want to stock up on staples at the "dollar" store in San Jose [Waldo's Mart] which will be on your left (off the highway) just prior to coming to the traffic circle that allows you to take the toll road to the airport. They have a great food selection. If you're willing to drive on to Cabo, there will be a CostCo on your right (off the highway) prior to entering the Cabo city limits. Leave your CDs at home. The unit has satellite TV and there are over a dozen music selections.

A beautiful, clean, quiet location with a stunning view and a spacious veranda to enjoy it from - and it comes with some stellar bonuses. The first is owner Pat, who lives in the main house and is ready to help with solid info on local amenities, from the best supermarket or snorkeling spot to dive operators and fish charters. The second is Pat's garden, which gave us a delicious dose of summer in March: sun ripened tomatoes, luscious papaya, flawless eggplant, fresh beans, cilantro and lettuce. Add warm eggs from the henhouse, a fish caught from the beach a ten minute walk away (Pat loaned us the rod and reel), or local prawns and we ate most meals right at home - feast after feast. Our 4-year old son Cody loved Pat's casita too, waiting eagerl;y every morning to greet passing cows and share our veggie scraps with them. This is a sweet place for a romantic getaway or a small family vacation, and if you're a cook/ gardener, it's heaven.

WOW! What a FANTASTIC surprise! Pat's beautiful casita has everything: modern kitchen (equipped better than our home), satellite TV, high speed wireless internet, spectacular panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez, dazzling landscaped yard (loved eating fruit right from the trees), the sound of running water coming from the waterfall/pond in the yard, in addition to all the activities of the area. We will be back! We may move in for good!
