Welcome to the 'Historic Marigny' neighborhood. Area has a nice European feel to it.(BOOKED FOR MARDI GRAS)....This is a cute area right next to the 'French Quarter', but without all the noise and expensive parking-- all you need within walking distance-- 2 blocks to a huge 24 hour grocery, only 8 blocks to 'Frenchmen St'. (has great restaurants/live music), there are 15 restaurants and coffee shops all within a few blocks of this home. My favorite is a vintage junk shop--i always find treasures every time i go--just 3 blocks away......

This building is a Creole corner store that's 175 yrs old. This is an incredible open spacious place-1500 sf--plenty of room to hang out and enjoy!! It's loft style with the living/kitchen/dining all open. It used to be a cafe years ago. Has 12 foot ceilings in living area, exposed brick walls, a tropical courtyard with grill, antique doors, windows everywhere.

I also have 1 unit upstairs available with a HUGE balcony #202717. These can be rented simultaneously if you have a large group. This is a residential area, so we cannot allow parties here, sorry. (I also have 1 other property 4 blks to FQ).
This unit shown is the whole downstairs--approximately 1500 sq. ft. with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, with a sleeper sofa and queen mattress that are in the living room---4 beds-sleeps 8 total. Across the street is a beautiful 200 yr old church building. The neighbors are friendly; you won't want to leave!!

The house has all you need-- 'full kitchen'/all new linens/towels--this is a new listing!! I got so many customers from my other unit, so I had to expand........See my Penthouse listing upstairs vrbo #202717, or homeaway #934162

ENJOY!!! If this unit is full, the other one might be available!! Its best to email me for questions or to book.
Parking is Free on the street, but you always get a spot next to the house, and there are no meters to pay. yea!!

Recommendation-- rent or bring bicycles!! This is THE best way to see the City!!!

Wonderful!

My friends and I rented both units while we were in New Orleans for a conference. It was a 20-30 minute walk to the conference center, but no one complained! The house is simply cool. The neighborhood was a blast and we had a wonderful time. Many adventures and laughter.

Amazing place, neighbourhood, and experience

8 of us came down for the first time to New Orleans and we were overwhelmed with how great both the neighbourhood and this rental is. All of us fit comfortably, it was clean, unique and truly an amazing experience. Everything was an easy walk or cab ride away. It is close to Frenchmen St. which has some of the best live music in the city. It was also just enough away from the madness of Bourbon St. to give us a moments rest! I can't say enough positive things. Carrie was also an amazing help in getting the trip organized. There were plenty of pamphlets on the area, cab numbers, restaurant menus and more if we ever felt a little lost! I definitely fell in love with New Orleans and a huge part of that was staying here.

This is a party house :(

Guest: Travel Explorer (Milwaukee, WI)
Date of Stay: 10/17/11 Review Submitted: 10/22/11

When we arrived at the property, the previous guests had absolutely trashed the place. They had used it for a wedding reception and the caterer's tables were stacked against the outside wall, both beds were broken, the living space chairs were both broken. The pictures are very deceiving. The place looks much nicer in pictures than when you are actually in it. Fortunately we did not spend much time in the property itself. The cleaning person worked extremely hard to clean up after the mess before us but was unsuccessful. The sheets on the bed were still wet when we went to bed that night. I would not stay in this property again. The upstairs until looked much nicer from the outside but was unavailable during the time of our stay. The location is very nice but the property was not properly maintained and very expensive for what we actually got. The owner is very nice and quite helpful but that does not make up for a far less than adequate property. I would steer clear of this place unless you are looking for an open space party facility. As that is what it is set up for.

This property is a wonderful place to stay. The neighborhood was extremely nice with several fun and exciting local places to eat and hang out. Felt COMPLETELY safe the entire time. The interior of the house is absolutely adorable. This was the perfect place for a vacation. Will definitely stay again. Carrie is amazing, she made wonderful recommendations for food and was extremely pleasant to deal with. We even got the pleasure of meeting her while we were there! Highly recommend this property!

Excellent House

Some of my college friends and I take a trip every year and this year was New Orleans and the gypsy house mde the trip so much better. The house is beautiful and had plenty of room for 5 guys. The French quarter was a short 15 min. walk or a $12 cab ride for when we didn't feel like making the trek. Carrie was very helpful with any questions I had and very prompt with returning e-mails. I would suggest this house over a hotel stay to anybody.

We stayed here during a convention downtown and over the end of Mardi Gras. The house was a great alternative to a hotel - better value, beautifully decorated and well-equipped. Carrie was extremely helpful throughout our stay. The neighbourhood was also really laid-back and friendly. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat.

This house is great! It's in a lovely neighborhood, the decor is cute, and it's very affordable. My only recommendation is that they fix the water pressure in the shower, which was super weak and it took everyone a really long time to rinse their shampoo/conditioner out.

I would highly recommend this house for people visiting New Orleans. Recently stayed with a group of 6 and we throughly enjoyed the house. The location/neighborhood is neat, short walk to a 24 hour grocery store, the walk to the Quarter is around 15-20 minutes but it is a lovely one. Loved the patio and the overall "personality" of the house. We are already planning another trip to New Orleans and I will be staying here! Thanks Carrie.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Gypsy House the first weekend in December '09. It is so much better than staying in a small, stuffy hotel room. Tall ceilings, spacious floor plan made us feel right at home-with all the amenities of your own home. There is a grocery store just one block over. On Frenchmen's Street, just a few streets over, you can hang out with the locals and hear great Cajun music. This is a great place to stay if you need a respite from all noise & people but yet still very close to the French Quarter. We will definitely be back to the Gypsy House!
