This lake house has been in our family for over 40 years.
Jan and I did some renovation in 2006. It is a rustic house with boat dock overlooking beautiful Lake Talquin. The house is setup to for the enjoyment of a family gathering or for a group of fishermen. You may enjoy, as we do in our house next door, the beautiful sunsets in the afternoon. If you care to water ski our location is on the deep end of the lake with the lake dam in view.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, here. This is the epitome of what we had hoped for in a classic Southern Lake House. We kept a boat at the dock, though we caught the biggest crappy off the dock, itself! The house is spacious, warm, well stocked and the host and hostess were SO accomodating! Our original party of 5 swelled to 20 for Sunday's fish fry, which was a great success. The house is positioned on a little bluff overlooking the lake so that, when you sit on the covered porch or in the living room, all you see is lake and sky...and no neighbors. Sunsets were gorgeous. The breeze blew through the house nearly all day. Just a wonderful place and we highly recommend it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We have stayed here several times and have always had a great experience. The lakefront location is breathtaking, the cottage is family friendly and roomy, and the owners are accommodating and friendly. It is located close enough to Tallahassee to make this a viable option for football weekends. Excellent option.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

My family celebrated Thanksgiving 2010 in the Cook's rental. My nephew plays football for Florida State and we wanted to be close to him this year for the holiday and the big game. The weather was beautiful and allowed for all the kids to play outside games. The home is HUGE and no one is our party of 8 to 15 people ever felt crowded. The lake and lake views were fantastic and the Cook's were more than gracious. We would HIGHLY recommend this rental to anyone.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! Home was clean and completely furnished with everything you would need. The owners were very accomodating and friendly. Pictures are very accurate but understated - there are bookshelves full of facinating books which gave us hours of browsing - we barely turned on the tv. The views were beautiful, the water and lake were gorgeous. Everything was very user friendly -boat dock is a block away and a gas station was about 2 minutes away with a small store full of essentials. We loved it so much we reschedule a trip we had planned a month later so we can return. There are two close restaurants close -one by water and another minutes away (Angels) was an excellant seafood place. Our boat broke down early in our trip which allowed us site-seeing around Tallahassee. Within 30-60 minutes in either direction there are tons of great things to do. We would recomment this highly - but almost hate to in the event it will be taken when we want to come back. Enjoy!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

About the owner: we built our dream house and now retirement home 2 lots over from the rental house. We love living on Lake Talquin and consider ourselves blessed everyday. Now retired, we enjoy this wonderful lake everyday.
Why the Owner Chose Tallahassee:
Jan grew up coming to Lake Talquin on weekends and holidays with her parents and 3 brothers. Her parents bought the property in the 50's. At their death we bought the house and property and have set it up for rental in hopes that others may enjoy it as much as her family.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The house is on one lot with an extra lot adjoining. This gives a total of 200' of waterfront. facing the west we enjoy the beautiful sunsets in the afternoon. Lake Talquin has long been known for it bass, crappie, and bream fishing. With eight bunk beds, 2 regular beds, and a king bed in the master bedroom the house is great for family gatherings or fishing groups.
