Down a country road sits this 200 year old barn that, in the 1940's was turned into a live/work space by Stanley Bate, a NYC artist, after whom the the road was named. Originally it was converted to be used as a painting studio on the second floor and a gallery for Stanley's artwork on the ground floor.
The second floor Studio suite is a romantic, artist's retreat, where you truly can get away from it all! A light-filled, one bedroom with a full bath, the suite features a large living room/dining room with 12 foot ceilings, exposed wood beams, pine floors and a view of the surrounding wooded countryside. This is a true get away spot with no TV reception but you do have coverage with most cell phones, iPhones and Blackberry.
Centrally located in Columbia County, midway between Hudson, NY and the Berkshires, the apartment offers easy access to all the area's attractions; shopping, dining and entertainment in Hudson, Rhinebeck or Great Barrington. Tanglewood, Simons Rock and Bard's Fisher Center for the Performing Arts are all about half-an-hours drive. Catamont Ski is 15 minutes away, Jiminy Peak and Windham Ski areas are within an hours drive. Or enjoy the the State Parks -Taconic State Park, Bash Bish Falls and Historic homes; Olana, Clermont and Lindenwahl, to name just a few, that abound in this historic and scenic part of New York!
