If you want to get away from it all, yet have access to everything when you want it, Casa Largo is the place. Nestled among monkeys and parrots on the mountaintop above the quaint town of Garza, Costa Rica, our villa is the perfect retreat for a couple or couples seeking seclusion and relaxation.
While home, sit under the comfortable shade of our wrap-around porch and enjoy the breathtaking view of Playa Guiones. Do yoga, read, nap, watch birds, and swim in our gorgeous infinity pool. In the evenings, grill and dine al fresco, watch the sunset, and linger in one of our rocking chairs under the stars.
When you want to get out, just drive to one of the many restaurants just three to six miles away in Esperanza and Nosara.
If you like the beach, Playa Garza is just five minutes down the hill and the popular surfing beach, Playa Guiones, is just 15 minutes away. There are many activities that can be booked in Nosara including deep-sea fishing, surf lessons, monkey tours, river tours, horseback riding, canopy tours, and turtle tours on Ostional Beach. But if you are like us, you will find that you have everything you need right here on the hill. If you need to work and stay connected to the world, we also have US satellite TV and internet access.
The house is large, with cathedral ceilings and screened-in windows for ventilation. Together with the wrap-around porch, the house stays very cool. Although there is an air conditioning unit in the master bedroom, we have never used it. There are only two bedrooms, a master and a guest suite, each with private baths. This is the perfect house for a couple or two couples, or a small family with adult kids. We do not recommend it for small children due to the openness with the pool and nature. There is of course a gourmet kitchen with all amenities, and two more baths, one indoor and one outdoor.
If rugged luxury is your cup of tea, then this is the place.

Year Purchased: 2007
We are a couple in our forties who moved to Costa Rica from Manhattan for a change in lifestyle. Stephen works in the financial industry and I am a producer/writer, so as long as we have an internet connection, we can work remotely. We have no children, but have a wonderful 12-year-old Hungarian Viszla dog and a prissy Persian cat, who is not beneath eating bugs. Pets are welcome in our home, always.
Why the Owner Chose Nosara
Stephen first came to the Nosara area fifteen years ago when it was even more rugged than now. He was attracted to the dirt roads, the remoteness, and the simplicity of life here. Although Nosara is more developed today offering all the tourist amenities, nearby Garza still holds much of the area's original charm. The property, which sits on top of the mountain surrounded by lush jungle teeming with monkeys, parrots, and exotic birds, provides a spectacular view of miles of unobstructed, pristine coastline. Being in Vista Royal high on the hillside, the property is cooler than those in Nosara and without all the mosquitoes and road dust.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The tranquility and peacefulness of Vista Royal is remarkable. There are often only a few lights on in the valley. There are less than ten homes on the hillside and the owners are very active in keeping their homes and community safe and beautiful. We are very respectful of each other's privacy. There is a security gatehouse upon entering, and each home also has its own private gated entrance.
