We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house is lovely. We wish we had more time. It's located just outside of town so we had easy access without being in the hustle & bustle of the touristy areas. We enjoyed being able to cook in the well-equipped kitchen and sit out on the nice patio, soaking in the sun. Also, great view of Mt Abrams!

We had a great stay at the Stone House during the Ice Climbing festival this year. We had a group of 8 and the setup was perfect. Great areas to hang out, eat, and sleep. We walked to town at night, which was chilly (well below zero that weekend) but otherwise not a bad walk. We cooked in the kitchen for breakfast and 1 dinner and found it just fine for basic needs. Everything was very clean, and Pattie was great about communicating all information. Security deposit was received quickly after departure. Bottom Line: I would stay again, and I would recommend the place to friends.

Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Owner response: I'm glad everyone had a good time in spite of the very cold temperatures. The Ice Festival was once again a success. Thank you for the kind words and I hope you, your family, and friends are able to return.

My family (i.e. My wife, son and his wife, two grand children and my mother-in-law) stayed in the stone house over Thanksgiving. We had a great time. The house was clean, Patti helped us with detailed instructions, things to do, she even offered to do our shopping for us!!!! The house was nicer than the photos and we will recommend it to our friends in the future. Thanks again!

My wife and I and her sister and husband stayed a week at the Stone House in Sept. The house was extremely clean, had very comfortable beds, and included all the amenities for a very relaxing and troublefree vacation. The house was off the road enough for peace and quiet yet only a short 15 to 20 minute walk to the center of town. From my initial inquiry and questions several months ago, to the reservation of the date, payment via the VRBO site, the actual visit, and finally our refund of deposit, Patti was extraordinarily prompt, friendly and professional in her responses. She and her husband called and then visited us on Tuesday afternoon and we had a very fun and lively conversation about what Ouray and Ridgway has to offer visitors and locals alike. We utilized some of their recommendations on restaurants, sights, brewpubs, Jeep trails, hotsprings, etc. which enhanced our experience. We will stay her again, hopefully next year.

My family and I feel so lucky to have found such a nice home to spend our little vacation in. It is cozy and inviting and the perfect size for two families to share. We really enjoyed having coffee on the front patio and watching Ourays fireworks from the window. Pattie, was so wonderful in making sure we had everything we needed for our stay. She was even sweet enough to let us bring our pup after he was injured at the last minute. We will definitly be back!!!

We had a great time. We had 6 adults and 4 kids and fit perfectly. We ariived with a bottle of wine waiting for us and some ground coffee. Patty was more than accomidating. We needed a few larger type cooking pans to accomidate our large family and we called Patty that morning and she had pans for us by lunchtime. The accomidations were perfect for us. We brought bikes and it ws nice being able to use the garage also. We will definately be back and book this cottage again. Thanks again Patty. Hope to see you again soon!

Ouray Stone House was our home for a month. The owner provided more than was expected..... Everything you need was there. The house was super clean, roomy, the kitchen very well equipped, lots of closet space, comfy beds, fantastic views ! The first two weeks our son and his family from FL were there. 6 of us the first two weeks.....then 3 grandsons plus 5 adults the last two weeks. Patti was a gracious host.... Friendly.... Caring.....she provided house cleaning service at the two week point. What a great place to spend a month building memories. I give my high compliments to Ouray Stone House and it's owner Patti!!!

About the owner: After visiting Ouray since 1987 we finally decided to become part of this magnificent place. We love sharing our little piece of paradise and continue to encourage family and friends to visit. Every one of them has expressed how beautiful this area is and can now see why we moved here. We've had tons of fun in the San Juan Mountains. Winter is our favorite time of year with plenty of snow fall followed by blue sky days and fantastic skiing in Telluride.

                          Why the Owner Chose Ouray:
Ouray is one of the most beautiful places we ever traveled through, so we were thrilled to be able to own property here. This wooded property is located in the north corridor of the city limits, nestled between the canyon walls and only a short walk to the river trail, hot springs pool, or even downtown.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Enjoy the surrounding beauty of the San Juan Mountains. View Mt Abrams and the canyon walls from the comfort of a recliner in the living room or while enjoying meals on the patio. If you are lucky, some wild life may wonder through the property. A two mile river walk is across the street. Walk/jog, snowshoe/cross country ski the loop or use it to walk to the hot springs or into town. There is so much to see and do. There are winter and summer activities. Our vacation home is 0.7 mile from the Ouray hot springs and 8 miles from Orvis hot springs. The nearest airports are in Montrose (35 miles) and Telluride (50 miles). Ouray and Telluride offer jeeping and hiking (guided or self); museums, quaint shops, and restaurants. The town of Ridgway (10 miles) offers the same activities along with kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing, and the Ridgway State Park/Reservoir. Winter allows for cross country skiing, alpine skiing, ice climbing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing.
