A mere 35-minute drive from Atlanta, Lake Ranch Lodge is an authentic, mid-century modern, lake house. Hand-built decades ago by craftsmen, it features custom-milled paneling of pecky cypress – one of the rarest and most beautiful kinds of wood – and exudes a relaxing get-away feel that will make it hard to want to leave.
This sizable, three-level lakeside bungalow features more than 3,000 sq. ft. of living space on a private, hardwood-shaded one-acre lot neatly nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac. Lake Ranch Lodge is professionally decorated with casual, mid-century modern furniture, steeping it in the sort of retro-chic styling that would make Don Draper feel at home.
Overlooking the great room – with its high, vaulted ceiling of tongue-in-groove clear cypress and large masonry fireplace – is a second story mezzanine walkway providing dramatic perspectives of the room, deck and water. Floor-to-ceiling windows lining the great room deliver a panoramic vista of an enormous, secluded bay, while ample windows in every room ensure that you can see the water from anywhere.
Double sliding glass doors lead from the great room to an enormous deck outside, where a short, gently- sloped walk to shore means you’re always just steps away from beautiful water for skiing, fishing and, swimming. The expansive 250 ft. of shoreline on deep water ensures you'll always have water and the huge bay offers plenty of fishing – it's a favorite of guides looking for hybrid bass.
The private dock with lights and power features a covered, over-sized single slip, water-level sunning deck, a fish-cleaning station, a large storage closet and a swim ladder.
After a swim retire to the tree-house/cabana to rinse off in the shower or enjoy your favorite beverage while sitting on the benches under the ceiling fan as you take-in the lakeside view. The tree-house above has lights, ceiling fan and room for kids to play while you relax.

Why the Owner Chose Gainesville
Lake Lanier's emerald-colored waters make it the region's premiere destination for skiing, boating, and fishing. When the chance came to actually own a house here, it was as though Lake Ranch Lodge found us. It was yards from our favorite spot on the lake for my parents and I when we boated back in the 60's and 70's. Everything about the place says relax and enjoy yourself with friends and family. Or have one of the best off-site meetings with staff or clients you can imagine.
The Unique Benefits of this House
What a house, like something right out of a 1960's lodge or chalet plan book. The original owner built the house from large cypress trees he harvested in south Georgia swamps and then saved until he found the right lot. He got one of the best and then set carpenters to work for months constructing, customizing and hand finishing every stick in the place. Thick 8" slabs of solid cypress for stair treads, massive solid beam rafters w tongue & groove ceiling and extra wide pecky cypress paneling from floor to ceiling. They took such pride and care right down to the hand-made bathroom towel racks of cypress limbs to the wood & rope closet latches that lend an air of whimsy that says have fun here. An expansive view on to a large bay with limited boat traffic is like having your own private lake. During the week you may not see anyone else for hours which is remarkable given it's proximity to Atlanta. The large great room and enormous deck plus awesome A/V and Wi-Fi system throughout are perfect for family and small corporate off-site gatherings.

We enjoyed our stay at Lake Ranch Lodge very much! It was a beautiful place in a beautiful setting. We loved the decor's color scheme and appreciated the well equipped kitchen...there was an unanimous vote to rent Lake Ranch Lodge again next year.
