New for 2013 we have added a picnic table underneath the house for each side. We wanted to allow a place to sit for the children to eat while playing outside and also downstairs eating when grilling out. We have the first week of Jun and the last week in Aug still available for 2013. If you would like to get wait listed for a week we will be willing to let you know if we have any changes. Enjoy the new Living Room carpet for 2012. We also upgraded the WiFi range and bandwidth for better streaming. The rear grass is really coming in this spring thanks to the added sprinkler system last fall and we now invite your kids to enjoy our large grassy area for soccer, lacrosse or Frisbee.
We are mostly booked for the spring and summer and have several families on standby list for summer 2013. There are many great weeks available for the fall.
One of the huge benefits of renting our vacation home is we allow the right of first refusal for the following year to the current year rental family. Once you rent with us, you always have right of first refusal on that week for the following year at the end of your week of relaxation at Holden Beach. This allows you the ability to have your own personal time-share without the costs.

LARGE DUPLEX IN PRIVATE GATED COMMUNITY: Each side has its own 'name' as this is the Holden Beach way. The East side is named 'M & M' and the West side is named 'Joy of Flying'. This is your opportunity to stay in a lovely 4 bedroom half of the duplex or 8 bedrooms when renting the entire house. There is a large interior doorway between the two sides making it perfect for family gatherings. There are lots of boogie boards, chairs, and beach toys located in the lockable storage area under the house that have been provided over the years by renters for their enjoyment and the enjoyment of others.
A number of our renters come with several families and enjoy the complete living, dining, and kitchen of both sides. Each spacious side of the duplex has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. Two rooms each side have private baths. Each side sleeps 8. The interior walls have been insulated to keep the sounds at a minimum which helps get a good night's sleep or afternoon nap. There is room for the kids to play under the house with swings on each side and lots of room for younger kids to ride big wheels, etc. The house is well-maintained and you might even feel that you are staying in a brand new home. We have renters who have been with us for fifteen years and they keep coming back because it feels like home.

Our property is very private, yet you're next to the beach, You will love the location of our house. To walk onto the beach, you simply cross the street on a diagonal and walk down a comfortable wooden walkway to the beach. The beach has been maintained through the years as a family beach with little commercial emphasis.
Holden Beach is still a well-kept secret, perhaps not for long. National Geographic Smart Traveler magazine recently ranked Holden Beach among it's top 10 'Best Family Beaches' category. Additionally, AAA Beach Vacation Travel Journal recently ranked H.B. one of their 'Top 30 Beaches' overall. H.B. offers a great alternative to the crowds and commercialism of nearby N. Myrtle Beach, which is only approximately 30 miles away.

The bedrooms are all very nice in size, plenty of room all around the home. I have been traveling to NC for over 10 years annually and our family finally found a home that we all love! Very close to the beach. Very quiet neighborhood, and lots of room to spread out at the beach! Driveway very spacious as well. Beautiful home, can't wait to rent here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway.

We really enjoyed our stay at M&M and Joy of Flying. We had our entire family of 16 there, and I was afraid we would be falling all over each other. We had plenty of room, the living rooms and kitchens were very open and spacious. The walk down to the beach was a concern, but it took less than 5 minutes even for my elderly parents. The beach is comparable to some of the nicer Florida beaches, much better than Myrtle.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway.

I highly recommend this beach house to anyone. It is a beautiful home and well taken care of. I actually got married at Holden Beach on July 22, 2010. My family rented M and M and Joy of Flying for the week, while my groom and his family stayed at a near by home. We had an awesome week! Our wedding ceremony was on the shore. BEAUTIFUL!! We used the boardwalk across from the beach house as an easy access from the ceremony to the reception. Our wedding reception was held in the backyard and it worked out perfectly. If you are considering having a beach wedding, you should!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Just wanted you both to know that our family week of "Christmas at the Beach" went beyond our expectations! The weather was assorted (some rain, some cold, some wind, some 60 degrees), the house accommodated us exceptionally well, and our fellowship was relaxed and easy. All the family commented on how well the house was laid out, how clean the house was, how great the lighting was (comments were that beach houses usually do not have great lighting for reading), how well-equipped the kitchen was with dishes/appliances, and the list could go on! You made me look good! Stan and I stayed in the upstairs room in THE JOY OF FLYING...we knew we were in the right place when we saw the airplane fan and the airplane border in the room....our son had the same fan in his room growing up! Stan and our son are pilots so we enjoyed the decor! We did our own cleaning and tried to leave it better than we found it (although it was clean!) All the family indicated we would like to do this again next year...if the house is available. About the owner: We love coming to Holden Beach. The beautiful beaches are filled with the wonder of nature. Birds flock to the water's edge, trying to catch hermit crabs. Sea shells are plentiful and everyday is a new adventure looking through the night's fresh deposits of shells. We love relaxing on the seemingly-private beach watching our grand-kids play in the surf while enjoying the peace of mind that only a family beach can provide. Our favorite time is early morning walking the empty shoreline feeling at peace with all of creation. Walking along the street on the West End you can see rabbits, deer or red foxes living in their natural habitat in the marshes.
Why the Owner Chose Holden Beach:
Our family began vacationing at Holden Beach over 40 years ago Several relatives own homes at Holden Beach so we feel that owning at Holden was just increasing our family time. Fifteen years ago we built our house because we wanted to have a place that catered to our needs at Holden Beach and provided plenty of growing room for grand-kids. We designed and built our duplex to provide exactly what we wanted in a beach house. Spacious living areas designed around informal living with the focus on family activities together. However, we also wanted some privacy in the sleeping arrangements so we added private baths. When more than one family is able to vacation together, we wanted the expandability of having a duplex, so we designed a large walk-through area and designed the bath and stairs to be the areas that were next to each other. The result allows the two large living spaces to be well separated when renting both sides individually so that there is no intrusion upon your neighbors. The numerous large windows provide encouragement to leave the comfort of inside and enjoy the great outdoors. The Private Holden Beach West End is exclusive and results in significantly fewer people on what is already an under-crowded beach. During the height of the summer vacation season, the West End beaches always allow plenty of room for Frisbee, soccer, or kite flying. During the 'shoulder' seasons, there is room to practice your middle iron play without disturbing anyone and in the off-seasons of May, Sep, Oct you practically have the entire 1.5 mile West End to yourself.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Sitting in the rockers on the front porch or swinging in the swings underneath the house is at the top of relaxation. Our beach is perfect for long walks, shelling adventures, swimming in the surf, or lying in the sand. When we come from the beach, we enjoy a nice warm shower underneath the house in the privacy of our outside showers. Many renters do not even use the inside showers because the ones outside are wonderful with the breeze blowing under the walls and keeping you cool and comfortable. Our kitchens welcome a cook to prepare simple or elaborate meals with all the required utensils provided. All of our bedrooms have quality mattresses that assure the comfort needed for the night's sleep. Our dining room tables are set up for family game night with good lighting and adequate seating.
