One of just a few private homes on the Oval Beach Road, this classic hundred-year-old cottage with guest house is nestled into the side of a wooded sand dune. In a great location surrounded by woods and walking trails, Oval Beach Cottage is steps from the Kalamazoo River, Saugatuck's chain ferry, and a 1/2 mile down the road from the beautiful Oval Beach.
Spread out over three floors, there are four bedrooms and 2.5 baths in the main house. A fabulous wrap-around screen porch offers tree-top views of the river and town of Saugatuck, and there is a hot tub to relax in at the end of the day. A large living/dining area with a cozy wood burning stove makes this a great house for entertaining, and country antiques add to Oval Beach Cottage’s warmth and rustic charm.
Guest House:
Just up a wooded path is the guest house (Acorn), a cozy one-room log cabin that is perfect for two. Acorn has barn-beam cathedral ceilings, a fireplace, small kitchen and bath, and a deck high up in the tree-tops.

Why the Owner Chose Saugatuck
Our family has owned cottages in Saugatuck for over 75 years! Wanted a classic summer cottage in a great location. We think ours is very special.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
It is hard to beat the location of this property.
You can walk just a few steps to the Chain Ferry that crosses
the Kalamozoo River and puts you in the heart of downtown Saugatuck (beats the parking woes!). Wooded walking trails, views of the sailboats coming down the river and super close to the beach!
As the last house on Oval Beach Road, the beach is less than a 1/2 mile.
The Chain Ferry is 200 yards from the cottage. It will take you across the Kalamazoo River (3 minute ride) and drop you off in downtown Saugatuck.

We stayed at this property in August of 2011, and truly enjoyed it. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. The porch is fabulous - we completely enjoyed mornings and evenings relaxing there. The furnishings are nice and the house is very comfortable; nice and airy in the shade of the trees. It was fairly hot (90 +) the week we visited, so daytime in the house was a little steamy but not prohibitive. Unfortunately the Chain Ferry wasn't operating a couple days we were there, but all in all we had a good experience here and would stay again - Thanks for sharing your home with us!
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
