My wife and I stayed at the house for 5 nights with our 15 month old son, and we could not have been happier with what we got. The home had everything that we needed, and it was all labeled very clearly and specifically so that I had no trouble at all finding things from day 1. We were stocked with PLENTY of towels, sheets, and beach gear. Plus the pack-and-play/porta-crib (whatever term you prefer) was a fantastic amenity. Saving us the trouble of hauling one there from the east coast was invaluable. My son loved playing in the yard as well as the park that the house backs up to. They even had a soccer ball and volleyball for him to kick and chase around! The location was ideal for us. The Princeville Shopping Center is extremely convenient, and it is only a short drive to beautiful Hanalei. This was our first family vacation, and this home helped to make it a great one.

We are a family of three, with a 2yr old. This home was perfect for our time on Kauai. The home is located in a beautiful area and was centrally located for all of our favorite spots, including Hanalei and Moloa'a. It is well-maintained and thoroughly stocked with all that we needed for our stay. I particularly loved having the pack-n-play on site (we rented one last year), the washer/dryer was an important amenity to us, and the beach gear was put to good use. I was also able to enjoy two books out of the owner's library. We could have packed much lighter considering it is a well-stocked house in a convenient location to the Princeville shopping center. I will remember this for next time! We referred to Hale O' Imi Loa as Andy's (our son's) Kauai House or Hale O' Andy. He cheered every time we arrived back to "Andy's House." Andy loved feeding the birds and enjoyed eating his meals on the enclosed Lanai. The home is very cool and airy as the windows bring in Kauai's lovely tropical breezes. The owners do a fabulous job of accurately describing all that this home has to offer. A perfect, tranquil setting that we hope to visit again and again. Thank you so very much for sharing your home with us.

Guest comments (entered by Owner): Attractive . . . had everything we needed plus more! The outside shower was handy. BBQ dinners on the lanai were wonderful!!! Very convenient having a kitchen. Loved having the laundry facilities. More private than a hotel/motel. The local people were very friendly and helpful, directing us to where we wanted to go. Loved all the Farmers' Markets !!!

We recently had the pleasure of staying in this lovely, most comfortable, peaceful, very clean and nicely organized home. The owners description is quite accurate. If this is the type of accommodation you are looking for you will not be disappointed. Ned and Linda Hogan

Owner Guestbook entry: This home was a dream come true! Anything and everything was provided. I wish I didn't have to leave. Future guests should explore all of the island, everywhere you go is beauty. After a long day of hiking, swimming or shopping (LOL)--it is so comforting to know you have such a relaxing place to come home to, to rejuvenate and be ready for the next day's adventure! Mahalo for a little piece of Heaven! P.S. Hotels never again! :)

Owner Guestbook entry: We have spent a lovely week in Kauai, based on your wonderful home--thank you for allowing us to use it! The baby loved your "floor" & fish pillows & rolled on them constantly--the house was also nice-and-toddler-safe. We were very pleased that all was available--towels, hats, beach toys; so much more than we expected! (I wonder why we ever stayed at a hotel). Beds are so comfortable, & we loved your lanai & back garden. We fed your birds (they're crazy! Bejillions of them and pretty too). Lots of fun to watch! We would love to come back again. Mahalo!

Owner Guestbook entry: Comfortable, airy, perfect size, nice garden. Everything provided and labelled. Excellent for family. Your own place with a garden and big porch--no worries about noisy guests on other side of hotel room wall; no worries about baby disturbing others. House is so well-provided for (towels, beach toys, movies, baby cot, etc.).

The North Coast is the most beautiful part of the most beautiful island. The air is sweeter, the breezes more soothing, the greens greener. The first time you look down onto tarot patches from the Hanalei River Lookout, you know this place is magical.Hale ‘O Imi Loa is located in Princeville, near where the road starts to descend to cross the Hanalei Bridge. The town is on a bluff about 200 feet above the ocean. The Hale is a small home in a very pleasant neighborhood on a quiet cul de sac. The yard has been cleverly landscaped to allow real privacy. The experience of living in a home in Hawaii is different from the hotel/resort experience. It is more quiet and personal. Instead of being surrounded by people, your closest neighbors are the Java sparrows who swarm to the bird feeder, the doves who eat the seed the sparrows fling to the ground and the ubiquitous Kauai chickens who clean up after the doves. Since the Hale is in a neighborhood, a stay there gives some sense of what it might be like to live in Kauai. There are two swimming spots within walking distance: the Queen’s Bath (a depression in the rocks in a spectacular setting protected from the waves) and Hideaways Beach. You have to navigate somewhat steep paths to get to these but they are worth the walk! Alternately, the magnificent Hanalei Beach is just a 10 minutes’ drive. The Hale is just a short drive from the Princeville Shopping Center. There is a Foodland Grocery Store (which has everything you could need), a hardware store where you can get a big bag of birdseed for $10 (highly recommended) and, most importantly, a Lappert’s Ice Cream shop. During our visit, someone had set up a stand selling CDs of Hawaiian music outside the grocery store. The house is very comfortably furnished. There are symbols from the world’s religions throughout the house intended to welcome all. The beds are extremely comfortable. The kitchen is completely equipped. There is a cable wifi LAN system set up. Prue and Jim have left snorkeling gear, comfortable beach chairs boogie boards and beach mats for use. While we were there, each morning around sunrise, a rain shower would sweep over the area. As it moved southwest, the rising sun would catch the rain so that there were rainbows against the north Kauai mountains. All we had to do was open the front door and look. What could be better?

REVIEW: The sweet breeze on Kauui was a great backdrop for our visit to Hale 'O Imi Loa. A well-appointed house with plenty of room (enough bathrooms 2+) and comfortably furnished. The organized kitchen made it easy to find things and cook fresh local fish on the backyard BBQ (brand new). The neighborhood was great for walking and close to the Queen's Bath for an ocean view. And don't miss the Farmers Market for exotic local fruits. I highly recommend this restful and beautiful home. Kathleen

Owner Guestbook entry: This is a dream revealed. To see the majesty of God all around--the flowers, the trees, the vivid colors, the creepy crawlers--all comes together to declare the Glory of God. Thank you Jim and Prue for allowing God to express His love through you. "Unless the Lord built the house, the workmen worketh but it is all in vain."
