This elegant and charming apartment is located on the fifth floor of a 19th-century building in the heart of the Marais district, between the Archives National and the Pompidou Center. There is a two-person elevator that lets you skip the stairs to reach the bright and airy height of this apartment that runs straight through the length of the building, from street to back courtyard. You will experience classic style matched with modern convenience in a remarkable rental property.
The best shopping and sightseeing in all of Paris are at your doorstep in this ideal third arrondissement location. You can easily walk to the Place des Vosges, the Seine, the Musee Carnavalet, the Picasso Museum, the Jewish Museum, and much more. And when you're tired of walking, you can bicycle: this flat is convenient to the new "Velib" system of shared bikes available throughout the city -- with a stand just two blocks from this flat. The Marais is one of the most picturesque districts of Paris with a concentration of historic buildings, museums, and streets that have not changed their contours in centuries. At the same time, it is an increasingly hip neighborhood with popular shops, restaurants, and ever-expanding destinations.
This building lies on a block that is a particular favorite of Parisians for its exceptional food purveyors, traiteurs, patisseries, and locally prized restaurants and cafes. You are in foodie paradise on this block. It is also just a few yards from the historic Passage Sainte-Avoye, which lets out onto rue du Temple exactly opposite the Jewish Museum. Also, the Marais has become a major gallery neighborhood of Paris in recent years.
The flat has been lovingly restored to its original charm, complete with oak herringbone floors, 200-year-old floor tiles, and ample French double windows flooding the interior with sunlight and breezes, and offering views of the rooftops of old Paris. The apartment is beautifully appointed throughout with antique furniture, oak and mahogany armoires, and period-style lighting. It has been designed and decorated to suit the owners' demanding standards and aesthetics.
The decor, furnishings, and color scheme are classic French but in every other detail, the apartment is completely modern. There is a full kitchen with new appliances (even a dishwasher), remodeled bathroom with bathtub and shower, separate water closet (toilet), and a laundry room with washer, dryer, and ironing board with iron (use optional, of course). Modern amenities also include a flat-screen television, cable channels, and high-speed internet access that includes both wi-fi and ethernet connection. In the winter, there is plentiful central heating via radiators. In the summer, there are standing fans and table-top fans, as well as the breezes made possible by the floor-through design of the flat, with windows front and rear.
The two bedrooms, each with a wonderfully comfortable queen-size bed, lie at opposite ends of the apartment. This layout ensures optimal privacy, making the flat perfect for families, friends, or couples traveling together, and ensuring that both bedrooms have maximum light and air. In addition, the split bathroom with toilet in a own separate room allows an ease of sharing that is almost equal to having 2 bathrooms; it certainly makes shared use by friends or couples easier.
As a special feature of this rental, you'll find a personalized guide, written for you by the apartment's owners based on their experience, steering you to the best restaurants and shops in the area. It's like having your own personal tour of the best of Paris.
You will be greeted at the apartment upon arrival by the bilingual Paris liaison, who will give you the keys and show you the apartment. She is also available to solve any emergencies should they arise.

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 3
We bought this home to have one foot in Paris. We are city-lovers and chose an absolutely central area that's beloved by Parisians themselves for both food and history. Ours is a foodie block, filled with the highest-quality specialty shops. It's close to the Right Bank's museums and shops, while at the same time remaining full of buildings and stories that give off a sense of history that we just don't get in the U.S. The greatest adventure? Walking the streets of the Marais! It's always our first ritual upon arriving to walk down to the Seine. And then to spend every day walking further and further afield.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
There are too many benefits to count! The best pastry: next door. The best cheese: across the street. The best meals: all around. Great coffee: roasted and ground fresh, on the same block. We love to sip morning coffee looking over the rooftops of the Marais, walk down a block and a half to buy the newspapers, figure out what to explore on each visit. We are dazzled by the light and, in summer, the sound of the swallows swooping through the neighborhood. In the winter, at holiday time, lights are strung across the street and make us think we're in a time machine where the old customs are still observed. There is a sense of magic, charm and vitality to "our" corner of the Marais that nowhere else in Paris can touch – at least for us! And we try on every trip to visit the Carnavalet Museum. It's just a 5 minute walk from the apartment, and the entire history of Paris is there -- even the room where Proust lived and wrote.
Awe-inspiring historic structure that houses historical archives and presents exhibitions, with an enormous formal park/garden that is just a few yards from our front door. It's our favorite place to
One of the very best and most popular (with Parisians) bakeries in the city, renowned for its inventive items. A few steps from our front door.
Located just opposite the gate to our Passage Saint- Avoie, this museum hosts a general collection as well as special exhibitions, such as a recent tribute to the Dreyfus Affair.
The enormous carnival of art which exploded the architecture of the quartier and led to future preservation laws that ensure that nothing so contemporary will ever again intrude! A meal on the patio o
Our favorite museum, steeped in history, with the actual bed-chamber where Proust wrote and wrote and wrote.

We live in San Francisco . . . and spend our spare time in Paris, every chance we get. The minute we arrive in our Paris apartment, we seem to relax and breathe a little easier and smile a little more. We adore our walks through the streets of Paris. Here is a photo of Mary exploring a new area of the city, thrilled with the discovery of village life in the midst of an outlying neighborhood. We have fixed up the apartment to reflect our own desire for Parisian ambience, with enough conveniences to enjoy life there. Come see for yourself!

My friends and I found this charning apartment to be everything the owners said it would be: adorable, convenient, delightful -- I appreciated the "ground crew" (the point person in Paris) as I was the first to arrive and the last to leave -- they were very helpful at my arrival and departure. The comprehensive (and annotated) guide to the neighborhood restaurants and attractions and to all the conveniences of the apartment (dishwasher, washer and dryer) was brilliant. Each bedroom was well appointed, and the separation of the toilet from the shower/bath room made managing with one bathroom not an issue for us. And the ease of access to the wifi was fabulous!

Beautiful apartment, small, great kitchen (we did not cook) in a wonderful part of Paris with charming shops. Easy to walk to the metro. Owners were very clear in what they offer, & they delivered. Would stay there again. Owners had great reference loose-leaf binder with tips on everything.

This apartment was the perfect base for our visit to Paris. It couldn't be better located (fantastic neighbourhood!), and it was really homey and comfortable. Ruby and Mary's helpful guide to the neighbourhood was amazing - we had so many wonderful meals and experiences following some of their suggestions (in fact, the only bad meal we had when we visited was when we went "off-guide" - and boy, was it bad!). Some of our highlights included the women artists show at the Pompidou, visiting the new lesbian bar, eating our body weight in pastries from Boulangerie Huré, and delicious meals at Le Bouledogue and Le Felteu (our two favourite restaurants from our visit). We fell in love with Paris, and are already planning our next trip - we'll be sure to be back to the Adorable Apartment!

Perfectly Beautiful Thanksgiving Holiday

We have been to Paris a few times before, but generally in the summer or early fall. We decided to go for Thanksgiving this year because it was our 35th anniversary and it holds a special place in our hearts. We also chose to bring our youngest son and his fiance with us as he is an incredible up and coming chef who we knew would appreciate all of the wonderful markets (and perhaps even cook a bit!). It was even more memorable than we could have imaged. Even though we knew it was the holidays we didn't think of how beautiful everything would be all lit up! The apartment was perfect. The kitchen was well equiped and the bathroom with the laundry facilities was even more welcomed due to the fact we left one of our garment bags at home. The beds and bedding were wonderful. The district was great and I don't think we would stay anywhere else. We highly recommend this lovely apartment as well as going for the holidays.

Adorable Apartment in the perfect Parisian neighborhood

I just returned from a month long stay at this adorable apartment in Paris. The experience was fantastic from start to finish. The property owners are very organized and provided great communication all along the way, The apartment is perfect for 2 folks to enjoy Paris. After visiting most of the neighborhoods in Paris, the Marais really is the best. The location is centrally located and made it easy to get to sites by foot. For those rare occasions where you need a train, the metro stop is just up the block. The block the apartment is located is perfect for folks who like the cook. Right on the block is an awesome fromagerie (cheese/dairy) just across the street; fantastic bakeries (one is the best for baguettes, another for macarons and sweets); a great butcher and veg stand just next door. Also many great restaurants and cafes right on the block. I absolutely loved this area and will definitely stay again on my next visit. The apartment itself is great and even came with an elevator which I know is a rarity in these old bldgs. The beds were soooo comfy - better than my own at home! The apartment also has a huge tub where I soaked after each day of long walks. I was surprised to have such a modern and big tub in an old apt but was very happy to have it! Property is very clean and well-maintained. The "renters manual" has a wealth of useful info about the apt and the neighborhood. We found their reviews very accurate and came to rely on it many times thought the visit I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a 2 bd. apt. in Paris.

I'm approaching the end of my second week at the, "Adorable Apartment in Paris". Everything is just as the listing on VRBO suggested - in some ways it's even better! The location is perfect - the apartment is surrounded by fabulous food purveyors, wine stores, boutiques, cafes, restaurants, galleries, markets and delightful public gardens and squares and there are so many major attractions within walking distance. Ruby and Mary have been brilliant to deal with in the lead up to my trip - very responsive to all my enquiries - and their contact in Paris welcomed me warmly (the fresh flowers on the dining table were a lovely touch!). I love the "how to" booklet - especially the personal restaurant recommendations (how great is Chez Janou and Andy Wahloo!). I would definitely stay here again and I will be encouraging my friends and family to stay here also.

Wow, what a great place and what a terrific neighborhood! We enjoyed every second of our stay in this lovely and comfortable apartment. In just a few days, we felt that we were already making friends with the keepers of the many terrific shops on the block and the next block. Everything you could possibly need is right at hand; the Metro is nearby; and you can walk to so many wonderful attractions in just minutes. The beds are comfortable and the bath is bright and fully equipped. The kitchen has everything one needs, although there are so many great restaurants around you won't need to cook at all. The owners have provided a great handbook for the apartment with many wonderful recommendations in the neighborhood. Every suggestion that we followed turned out to be terrific. This is a great apartment and we will be returning.

We are well settled into the Adorable Apartment and finding our Parisian rhythm. Our trip here and arrival to the apt. went very smoothly and your manager was here and very nice. We love the location of the apt -- it is just perfect for our needs -- we have made just one trip out to Cergy -- we will go again tomorrow as things are just getting underway at the univ. and the RER station (as you probably know) is just straight down Rambuteau by Les Halles. We are also extremely appreciative of the modern appliances and having both a washer and dryer, and we love the bathroom, especially -- such a nice tub and very roomy. The wifi/TV system has all gone great. Since we are vegetarians, alas, we really aren't able to participate in the wonderful French restaurant experience, but are so enjoying buying basically all of our food in the nearest two blocks! We had a great meal at Little Italy across the street. My husband can eat baguettes for three meals a day if we have them, and we boringly had been buying all white bread, when due to a shortage one day we tried the pain des bles (wheat) at our nearby boulangerie and fell in love with it, too -- by the way, it was incredibly nice to have so much food in the cupboard, and have used some of it, like cereal, olive oil and tea, but will leave in place when we leave what we used.

We've just returned from Paris, and we were very happy with this apartment. We were most pleased with... - the cleanliness and condition of the apartment - the comfort of the beds (just firm enough!) - the updated kitchen and bathroom facilities - the light and ventilation provided by the windows - and of, course, the location! Rue Rambuteau is the market street for the surrounding neighborhood, and an amazing array of food shops are just steps are within a block's distance, there are plenty of nearby restaurants and cafes (do NOT miss a dinner at Le Hangar!) And many other sights to see are within a short walk. A couple of things to be aware of: - rue Rambuteau is very busy during the day (buses included), and it can be noisy at night. This is a particular problem during warm weather when you need the windows open. My advice: just bring along some earplugs or invest in an Ambien prescription. - This might not be the place for you if you aren't willing to climb 5 four flights of stairs regularly. Walking to the 5th floor can be a hike, especially after walking all over Paris, and the elevator holds 1 person comfortably. 2 can squeeze in if they aren't claustrophobic and are already on intimate terms! ;-) The owners were trustworthy and a pleasure to deal with. We would most certainly stay here again!
Owner response:Please note: Our elevator is a typical Paris size, squeezed into an existing 19th-century staircase. Two people fit comfortably, as we always do. No need ever to climb five flights of stairs!!! Rambuteau is indeed a busy shopping street, due to the fabulous food shops, but it has only one lane of cars and one occasional bus. Weekend summer nights can be noisy but not otherwise.
