Why the Owner Chose Navona

I always loved Campo dei Fiori in Rome. It is a beautiful square, where cars are not allowed. It hosts a farmer market every day, since 1490! It is a open air museum, where you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine, coffee, for hours and hours...and just steps from Vaticam , Forum, Navona Suqare...I never needed to use a car during my stay in my Rome apartment.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment

I choose this loction because it is a quiet spot. Via dei Cappellari is a walk street. The apartment is located in the private building court-yard, beautiful setting. Thus it is quiet, secured, private...yet steps from the most lively sights in Rome

A
Navona Square

Built over the ruins of the ancient stadium of Emperor Domition, Piazza Navona pays homage to it's foundations thanks to its long narrow shape which follows the form of the original circus. The square

B
Campo dei Fiori

Campo dei Fiori is a beauiful square close to Navona square; It means 'field of flowers.' Since 1869 there has been a fruit and flower market that still operates every day from 6am to 2pm. The ancient fountain keeps flowers fresh. Campo dei Fiori is a popular meeting place, for both Italian and foreign, offering al fresco dining, wine bars and best coffee shops in town.

C
Vatican and St Peter's Basilica

You can walk to the Vatican area sn Sistin Chapel in 15 minutes. This delightful area is dominated by the immense St Peter's Basilica and offers a wealth of history and culture just waiting to be discovered. Don't miss the Pope speech every Sunday in St Peter's Square.

D
Spanish Steps

Piazza di Spagna is one of the characteristic spots of Rome and the Spanish Steps have become a worlds famous monument. Built in 1725.

E
Colosseum and Roman Forum

In 72 AD the Emperor Vespasian decided to devote a large part of the huge area then occupied by Nero's Domus Aurea to public entertainment. It is one of he most memorable reminders of the grandeur of

F
Trastever and night life

Situated in the south of the city, across the river(the name literally means 'on the other side of the Tiber'), Trastevere is full of character with its eclectic boutiques, cobbled streets.

G
Trevi Fountain

If you walk through the narrow picturesque streets around the Fontana di Trevi you will hear the sound of the splashing of water long before you see one of the most famous sights of Rome.

I
Apartment Location - Via dei Cappellari 13

The apartment is located in Via die Cappellari, a walk street off Campo dei Fiori and Navona Square. Via dei Cappellari means 'street of hat makers' as in the past it was full of hat makers stores. No cars are allowed in the area, thus it si wonderful to walk around, safe, quiet. The apartment is located on the ground floor of the 2 storey historical buidling, facing the private courtyard, accessible for owners only. The courtyard maks the apartment very unique in the area, as it is quiet and protected from the buzz of the Roman life. You will sleep very well and be very secured and quite while just few steps from the Roman life.

Owner's Map of Navona

I am Italian, born in Tuscany - Siena. I lived in Rome and London for most of my life. I purchased the apartment in Rome in 2000, fully refurbished twice in 2000 and 2006. I lived there for 3 years in 2002 and loved every single day being able to walk everywhere and to sightseeing the beautiful Rome - which I consider a open-air museum.
At current, I live and work in Los Angeles - with my husband Stefano, also Italian.

Hello Giusy, I want to say thank you for a fabulous accommodation. I posted 50 photos on Facebook already with captions. I thought I would share a few of them with you. Valeria, Agnes the tour guide, and Juliano the driver were just superb. I could not have had a better time in Rome. Everything was absolutely perfect. We love the apartment, the provision and the convenience. We already made friends with Maria next door. We had her at our place and she had my sister over, etc. We love the jewler next door, Giovanni. He is so awesome.

Location Location Location! First – I say – Guisy is not just a joy to deal with she is absolutely GORGEOUS as well! I had the opportunity to meet her as she was in town and I am so glad I did. There is much to be positively said about Guisy’s place, but you must first know you could not rent a flat in a better location!!!!!!!!!!!! For those of you unfamiliar with Rome, Piazza Campo dei Fiori is the THE center of antica Roma. The flat is 30 feet from the piazza -very quiet in a lovely private courtyard. Daily ( 7am- 2pm ) market Mon-Sat in the piazza filled with all sorts of wonderful flowers, fruits, vegetables, & other vendors, as well as places to dine, or go for your morning espresso/cappuccino. At night the piazza is teaming with life as well. Once you go from the hustle and bustle of the piazza, onto Via Cappellari, it gets peacefully quiet – walk this street for it’s many shops/small café’s. You can walk to everything from here, Pz Farnese (a stones throw away) Pz Navona, Pantheon, Vittoria Emauel , Forum, Giancolo, Fontana de Trevi, Campidoglio etc.( don’t miss Piazza Argentina close to flat-site where Julius Ceasar was murdered-many do not know this little fact) longest distances- Termini, Borghese Gardens and Piazza de Popplo & the Vatican Museum. A cab ride from near the campo-maybe 10 E to those area’s -we did not use the bus. It is a very residential area – you won’t find big hotels in this area or many tourists – mostly natives, which for me was heaven on earth!. You are close to Trastevere ( across the Tiber), one of those neighborhoods many tourists never venture to – it’s a working class area, old Roma - full of little shops, café’s, ristoranti – and not crowded. The flat is wonderful – plenty of room, beds comfortable, all the utensils you could need, clean, hot water in shower with good pressure, hair dryer, iron/ironboard, washing machine ( read instructions before using ), wall safe, – etc. AND TWO BEDROOMS WITH TWO ENSUITE BATHROOMS! For the two of us traveling this was the other item that sold me on Guiy’s place. The bedrooms are at opposite ends of the flat – giving each pure privacy and you never fear of disturbing the other. You won’t find many ( even larger flats ) in Italy where there are two bathrooms with showers. I cannot say enough of what a blessing this is, at least for me as I shared a bathroom on a vacation a few years ago, and it was horrible. The flat is spacious and has all you could need.

We were scheduled to stay four nights at the apartment, August 28th to the 31st, but due to Hurricane Irene our flight was cancelled and the apartment was not available to rent during the new time frame we were able to book. Giusy was very gracious in giving us a generous refund. Thanks again, Giusy, we really appreciate it!

Date of Stay: 05/04/11 Review Submitted: 06/11/11

My husband and I stayed here for 9 days in May of 2011 and enjoyed our stay very much. We are annual visitors to Rome and this apartment was fine for a short or long stay. As is expected when traveling abroad you will run into a few kinks along the way. I can assure you this home owner will address any issues immediately. Within an hour of requesting them, we received extra towels and a brand new toaster! The English speaking TV did not function but there were plenty of Italian channels to listen to. We had our computer so we just used it as a TV when we wanted something in English. The internet is slow but it worked for streaming TV signals just fine. You will not find a better location! Fresh bread, fish, pasta, sausage and assorted meats and poultry and vegetables are right outside your door within easy walking distance. The bus is two blocks away and is good to get across town.. BUT you can really walk to every site in the historic center of Rome within 5 to 25 minutes....REALLY it is that centrally located to everything. You should also expect transportation strikes on occassion. Each year we have been there we have encounter at least one half day where most buses did not run as the drivers were on strike. But even on these days you will find an occassional bus running but expect it to be packed to the rafters!!!! A real Italian adventure. You will not be disappointed by renting from this very trustworthy home owner. Now --she lives in the USA so you will be dealing with the local company when arriving and departing but the home owner is only an email away at any time. She answered all our questions and took care of all our needs in a very professional manner. The apartment is quiet and comfortable and secure. Italian washing machines are a real experience so read the instructions and don't expect it to work like american machines. Italian machines take a long time. Don't be surprise if it is 2 or even 3 hours and your clothes are still going round! Dry them outside on the dryer. They smell so wonderful when you fold them! You have a grocery store close by to get your staples and essentials like paperrtowels, toilet paper, soap and shampoos, etc. Again it is all so very close by. Italian beds are firm/hard. I have a very bad back so I bring an inflatable pool float and just inflate it enough to give me some relief. It doesn't take any space in the suitcase and it gives a lot of relief. We would stay her again in the future.

Owner response:Mary, you were a wonderful customer. Your advises were so well taken , It is so precious when a customer tells me what is not working so I can immediately fix it!! I should warn my customers about the washing and dryer cycles...Isnt it crazy? 3 hours for each washing and dryer!!! No wonder why people hang the clothes outside to dry!! So funny.:) I am glad you enjoyed the location. It has been such a pleasure to have you and wish you al the best. Giusy

WE SPENT A WEEK IN YOUR APT WITH OUR DAUGHTER AND 13 YEAROLD GRANDAUGHTER. WE HAD A GREAT TIME.WE LOVE THE CAMPO DI FIORI. WE SHOPPED THERE,ATE THERE AND REALLY SPENT A LOT OF TIME WALKING AROUND THERE. THE APT LOCATION WAS WONDERFUL. YOU COULD WALK TO JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING IN ROME. IT WAS REALLY BETTER THAN STAYING IN A HOTEL. AFTER 5 PRIOR TRIPS TO ROME AND STAYING IN HOTELS I CAN HONESTLY SAY I WOULD DO IT THE SAME WAY AGAIN.THE PICKUP AT THE AIRPORT WAS GOOD AS WAS THE CHECK IN AND DEPARTURE.THE OWNER WAS VERY HELPFUL AND ANSWERED EVERY E MAIL PROMPTLY SUGGESTING RESTAURANTS. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ALL. HOPE TO GO BACK AGAIN.

best spot in Rome

Guest: maria (florida)
Date of Stay: 01/27/11 Review Submitted: 02/02/11

This was by far our best stay in Rome. The apartment was perfect for our family and the kids were so comfortable with all of the comforts of home (and the great gelato they got daily around the corner). We cooked every day and it was the best treat to go to the market every morning. The colors, the scents, the vendors are fantastic. The bakery, which takes you about 90 seconds to get to was our first stop every morning- if only we had one half that good in the states! If you have kids, or are big walkers, this is the place to stay. The owner sent incredibly helpful information and was so kind and quick with returning messages-key holder was very nice (our flight was 8 hours late..) and all I can say is we cant wait to go again!!

Owner response:Dear Maria, I am so glad you enjoyed the apartment and the location! Please come back in summer for the best gelato season! Giusy

Date of Stay: 12/18/10 Review Submitted: 01/09/11

Just returned from a 3 week stay in Rome at this apartment, family with 3 teens. The apartment is in a perfect location, I cannot say enough about that. We went for a cultural experience and living in the historic district definitely gave us that. The apartment is fully functional, very quiet and ground floor (4-5 steps to entry). 2 bathrooms and comfortable beds, even the pull out couch was comfortable. The stainless steel cabinet shown under the sink/gas cooktop area is on wheels and can be pulled out for extra counter space. We fixed sandwiches for our day trips (fine deli ham and daily cooked bread), also cooked fresh pasta and meat meals nightly. We did stop for pizza from the bread stores nightly, to growing teens that would be an appetizer. The kitchen saved us a bundle, the fresh market is always stocked, no need to get up at 6:00 am to purchase food, they don't run out. The city keeps the historic area very clean, crews with trash trucks and street sweepers clean Campo de Fiori square daily after the market, even Christmas Eve and New Year's day early morning (you won't hear it though). Owner maintains apartment like true second home, boiler provides plenty of hot water for American style showers. Rome in December is still very green and mild. Truely loved our stay! Walked everywhere, although buses are easily accessible as well. Wine bars and restaurants on square, along with pork shop (excellent sausage, will provide samples before you buy), beef shop, chicken shop, bread shop are the best (yes, all the shops are separate)! Romans are very accomodating and will help you with your purchases. Police are on the squares nightly, had no concerns whatsoever about safety.

Owner response:The Foley family has been so great ! i love to have you back and and I wish you a great 2011. Giusy and her dad:)

Great Apartemnt in a Great Location!

Guest: William (San Diego, CA, USA)
Date of Stay: 12/05/10 Review Submitted: 12/14/10

My wife and I and our two sons stayed in this fantastic apartment in December 2010. It is in an absolutely fantastic location, on a pedestrian street just off Campo Di Fiori. You will love it! There is a bakery about 50 feet from the apartment, and there is also a small grocery store just on the other side of the piazza. Campo Di Fiori also has a fruit and vegetable market every morning. There is also a much larger grocery store just a 5 minute walk away. Piazza Navona is less than 5 minutes away. The Pantheon is about a 10 minute walk, and the Forum and Coliseum are less than 1 mile away. St. Peters is only slightly more than a mile away. (I left Google maps to all of these places, in the basket next to the TV, where there is other information about places to go, and how to get there. For a really great dinner at reasonable prices, go to Ditirambo, which is just off Campo Di Fioro--about a 2 minute walk from the apartment.) The entrance to the apartment is through a locked gate, which opens onto a lovely courtyard, making it very safe and secure, and quiet. The apartment has two large bedrooms, both of which have their own en suite bathroom with a shower, which is perfect for a family with kids, or two couples. The larger bedroom has a TV in it, and also has a walk-in closet with a washer/dryer, and plenty of space to hang clothes. There is also plenty of room in the living room and dining room area, with a large television. The kitchen is small but perfectly adequate, set up along one wall. There is a cook top, microwave, dishwasher and coffee pot, and nice dishes, silverware, glasses and mugs. (No oven.) The arrangements were all handled very well. The key holder was there waiting for us when we arrived, and came back to check us out the night before we left. This is a terrific place in a super location that you will thoroughly enjoy!
