Men's Journal voted this neighborhood as ONE OF THE TOP 5 NEIGHBORHOODS in America: 'In burgeoning East Highland, Colorado’s capital finally has its own Brooklyn. Overlooking the downtown skyline, E-Hi's brick brownstones, row houses, and modern condominium complexes are bringing in single professionals who party like grown-ups, couples who aren’t quite ready to settle down, and young families who are looking for a little more color than they might find in the increasingly beige neighborhoods of Cherry Creek or Washington Park. Up the 15th Street hill is the neighborhood’s core, where unique restaurants and bars are multiplying at such a clip that the area has already established itself as the destination district for the rest of the city. Vita’s rooftop terrace is usually packed with the city’s smart set (but without the attitude), and high-end Mexican place Lola offers up a new twist on tacos, with an excellent view of the downtown skyline. Locals know oddly shaped Little Man Ice Cream as “the giant milk can,” and Root Down, the city’s most interesting new restaurant, is a rehabbed gas station with a mod-retro vibe and the South Platte River Greenway, a five-minute downhill spin from the center of East Highland, offers the best urban biking in town. For a midweek fix, check out the 45-foot-high climbing wall at REI’s massive flagship store, housed in an impressive century-old brick building. Or, for those who prefer escaping farther into the city, a new pedestrian footbridge handily links East Highland to LoDo (Lower Downtown) high-rises and nightclubs, along with Coors Field, the city’s beautiful retro ballpark.'

My fiance and I rented this property for our Christmas vacation and our engagement party and could not have picked a better location. The property is very easy to find and access from the highway. It is walking distance to many of the LOHI shops and restaurants but still somehow feels tucked away and private. It isn't far from downtown either. A cab ride cost us about $8 (7 minutes) to the 16th street mall. The house is very spacious and decorated tastefully. I'd say in total there is about 2500+ square ft indoors. We had seven people staying at the house and our engagement party comprised around close family and friends that live in the Denver area, maybe 40 people total. This was the perfect amount of space for both. What can't be told from the photos is that there is a large garage in back that could easily house two small vehicles but was also perfect for our Tahoe rental. The outside area is AMAZING. We congregated outside, even in the cold, more than you would think. The area heater combined with the outdoor fireplace keeps the outside warm enough to hang out for an extended period of time without being uncomfortable. Beyond all of this, the owner is FANTASTIC. He was very understanding of our apprehensions of renting a property from an owner and answered any questions we posed quickly. He extended assistance at every step of the way and unlike many other rental property owners (not necessarily on Vrbo) , he did not attempt to keep our deposit despite our taking care of it during our stay. This was our my family's first Chriatmas away from home. We set up a tree and exchanged presents and it felt like home. Between this, the owner, the fireplaces, our get together, trips to Breck and Winter Park, the hot tub... I couldn't imagine a more perfect Christmas vacation and it would not have been possible without this property and the great service that Charles' provided.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you very much! We are so happy to hear how much you enjoyed your Christmas vacation and engagement celebration. What an exciting time for you two and your families! We love to hear that the back yard facilities were fully utilized and the great places around our LoHi neighborhood were explored. And what can I say about our fabulous ski resorts, most within a 2 hour drive. Sounds like you packed quite a lot into a week! Come back in the summer, and you can do a whole week's worth of new things in Denver! Like going to a concert at Red Rocks, white water rafting, hiking, exploring the mountains, dining and strolling downtown, Six Flags, camping, golfing, etc. And finally, thank you for your kind words about our customer service. We really do to try to be as helpful and accommodating as possible. You already have enough to worry about! ~Chuck and Ginger

We absolutely loved this house! Our family and another family were dropping off our youngest to college in Denver. We decided to make it a week prior vacation time and this house was perfect. The parents had their own bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs and the “kids” all stayed downstairs and had their own bathroom as well. The kitchen and outside grill were fantastic. Every night we ate outside and enjoyed the tranquil patio with ample seating and beautiful waterfall. The house is walkable to A LOT of activities/attractions: Elitch Gardens, Coors Field, and the 16th Street Mall. Boulder was easy to get to in about 30 minutes as was Red Rock Amphitheater. Also within walking distance were the Auraria Campus and the apartment they moved into. The house was well stocked with all essential items, conveniently located to everything, very clean and maintained.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your wonderful review, Grace! We have hosted several families dropping off their kids at one of the many colleges in the Denver/Boulder area. I'm so glad that the home worked out well for all of you during that exciting week. The prime location is the main reason we bought the home in 2004, and later believed it would make a great VRBO. We think the beautiful backyard is an added bonus and love to hear that your family spent lots of time enjoying the waterfall and ponds, built-in BBQ, ample seating, fireplace, and hot tub. I hope you can stay with us again when you come back to visit your kids! ~Ginger and Chuck

Eleven of us girls stayed here and had so much fun! The back patio and hot tub are amazing. The downstairs basement and bedroom area is also a great place to hang out. I would highly encourage anyone interested in a Denver rental to consider this house. We walked to nearby bars including those downtown. The house is super close to everything we wanted to see. I will definitely try to stay here next time I'm in Denver. Thank you to the owners!Owner response: WOW! Eleven girls taking over LoHi. Sounds like a blast! :) We are continually amazed at all the cool new places opening within walking distance of the home. In addition to all the great bars and restaurants, there are many coffee shops, delis, salons, ice-cream shops (Little Man Ice Cream is the BEST), galleries, boutiques, even a scooter store and a Pilates studio! Check out coloradolocalfirst.com/lohi for the Local Flavor Guide to LoHi (Lower Highlands). There are also guides for other neighborhoods close by with awesome places. Check out the Highland Square guide and the Tennyson Street guide, plus others just a short drive away (Sante Fe Arts District, Cherry Creek, Antique Row, and West Wash Park). We would love for you to come back soon and see what else has sprung up! ---Ginger and Chuck

What a wonderful location and home for our family to gather while celebrating my niece's wedding which took place on the 11th. . The back "yard" was a great place to gather with the fireplace, grill, tables and water feature. We certainly enjoyed ourselves in Denver and having this clean, pleasant and convenient home available to us made our celebartion all the better. Consider this rental for your visit to Denver!Owner response: Amy, thank you so much for the kind words! We have had many families stay here while attending weddings and are happy to hear the house worked out really well for your family too. We even had one party that had the rehearsal dinner in the back yard. We agree that the location is pretty cool! We have seen such a boom in LoHi (Lower Highlands) in the last couple of years, with fabulous new restaurants, bars, stores, and galleries. Please come back to visit us in the winter and check out our fabulous mountains! ----Ginger and Chuck

We visited Denver for a bachelor party and were very pleased with the location of this Oasis. The house is located very close to some great restaurants and bars. In particular in LOHI, there is a rooftop restaurant called Linger we were able to enjoy, which is a short 5 minute walk or so. Then LODO is a 15-20 minute walk to the are with many bars and restaurants. We were very happy with the location and the place was suitable for 12 people. Plenty of room on the patio for us to hang out, the fireplace and heat lamp were great at night when it got a bit chilly. Also includes a great grill which we put to use and it is good size and can handle a good amount of food. Plenty of utensils and kitchenware for eating in. The view from the upstairs balcony is great and the house has plenty of windows great for light. The experience all in all was great! We enjoyed this place and would consider returning if traveling to Denver again with a party of people. All was as said and you will not be disappointed in this place. Really does feel like home, away from home. I could see this being a great place for a couples getaway, as well as a family getaway. Definitely capable of serving different purposes and groups. Great cost for the location and number accommodated! Book it!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Brent! We are really happy to hear the house and yard met the unique needs of your large party and that you guys loved the location. You have great taste in restaurants! Linger was named one of the Top 25 restaurants in Denver, as were several restaurants in LoHi (Lower Highland) that are within walking distance, like Colt & Gray and Duo. Some of our other favorites are Lola, Vita, LoHi Steakhouse, RootDown, and the wonderful Coral Room. If those aren't enough, cross the pedestrian bridge to LoDo (Lower Downtown) with amazing food, drinks, and entertainment. Or for more private adventures, whip up a romantic dinner under the stars, relax in the hot tub, and gaze at the fireplace. Hope to see you again. ----Ginger and Chuck

Amazing location, amazing house, amazing owners! We rented this property for a girls weekend to celebrate a birthday! This house is in the perfect location, it has everything and more that a person could want. LoHi neighborhood has wonderful restaurants and a great atmosphere, the Highlands pedestrian bridge gets you to LoDo in about 10 minutes. We will be staying here again and again! Much better than a hotel. We didn't want to leave the property, so warm and inviting! I have stayed at other VRBO properties and this is by far my favorite! Thank you Chuck and Ginger for a great place to stay!! I will be recommending you to everyone I know traveling to Denver!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Laura, we are so happy that you girls had such a great time last weekend! We continue to be amazed at the explosion of cool restaurants and bars in LoHi (Lower Highland). Looks like they are continuing to build hip residential units and great places to eat and drink. We have found that the actual neighborhood the home is in is still pretty quiet, though. It is truly the best of both worlds. Please come back and visit us again. (We've still got a few openings in the Summer!) -----Ginger and Chuck

My company Bluespark Labs, traveled to Denver for a conference in March. Rather than renting multiple downtown hotel rooms, we chose to rent this house, primarily due to its proximity to downtown and its amenities. When we checked in, we were happy to note that the amenities mentioned here in the VRBO listing were exactly what we found. The house is "as advertised" and more. Additionally the hosts are consummate professionals and helped us settle in quickly and then let us enjoy the place. Two evenings that week the team and I were able to cook meals and enjoy them together, the others we chose to walk to some really great restaurants very nearby. It was a great place for us, as a team, to enjoy time together and to learn together at our conference. This place is highly, highly recommended.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Michael. We love hearing stories like yours! Happy satisfied customers are what we strive for. And YES, a house is so much better than several hotel rooms, with extras like a full kitchen, great backyard, living room, office space, bar/media room, and 2 car garage. We bought the house in 2004 and have seen amazing changes to the LoHi (Lower Highlands) neighborhood. Many wonderful restaurants have opened within walking distance of the house, and three have been named in the Top 25 of Denver: Linger, Duo, and Colt & Gray. The house is also very convenient to the various business and conference centers around Denver. We hope to see you again! ---Ginger and Chuck

I stayed there for four nights to go to a Broncos game and go skiing with a group of friends. We were all amazed with the house. Everything about the house was five star including the owners. The transactions and communication with the owner could NOT have been better. As for the house, one word, AMAZING! I would love to call a house like that, my own. The location was great, the sidewalk lead right to Mile High Stadium. We thought we would drive to 16th street mall, it turned out we could have walked there! The interior of the house was above and beyond any rental I have ever seen. From the furniture to the linens, it was all top notch. The backyard was awesome. It might have been December, but we spent every night out back. The fire place, hot tub, water fall, and heater lead to amazing nights. I can honestly say I would recommend this house to anybody wanting to come to Denver and stay in a beautiful home!!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: WOW!!! Matt, we are speechless (which is pretty unusual!). Chuck and I can't be happier that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay AND the Broncos won. :) Someone even asked if we've seen any bumper stickers saying "Tim Tebow for President". Thank you so much for the wonderful review. We try hard to make everything nice for our guests, and truly appreciate it when it is noticed. We have to humbly agree that it is a pretty nice place! We'd love to have you guys back for another home game. Thanks again. Ginger and Chuck

We stayed at this home for 5 days and all the pictures do not do it justice, it is absolutely beautiful. Owners - The owners are very responsive, available and professional. The transaction of renting the home and whole process in general (getting there, stay, departure) had no bumps and the owners were very helpful. House - There is a 2 car garage then entry to the back yard which is an oasis with hot tub, patio tables/chairs, grill/fridge, fire pit. The kitchen is fully equipped from high end appliances to every kitchen item one would need to be functional. In the kitchen is also a desk area. The living/dining area is spacious with stereo and plenty of seating. There are 2 master bedrooms upstairs, and the basement has another super nice living area & bar and bedroom with bunk beds, laundry, etc. The house decor is amazing, stocked with toiletries, towels, etc. Location - The location is so close to the freeway and easy access to many hot areas in Denver. In summary, great experience, beautiful house, just pack your clothes and show up and be ready to enjoy a cozy yet fully equipped home. I would absolutely stay here again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Doris! Thank you so much for the kind words and enthusiastic review! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in Denver. We have to humbly agree that the location is pretty terrific. :) We work hard to make sure the home (especially the kitchen and bathrooms) is well stocked with everything our guests need. We also take pride in responding quickly and professionally to inquiries and questions. It is very gratifying to hear you loved it! We hope you come back sometime to experience Denver in another beautiful season. ---Ginger and Chuck

We stayed at this beautiful property while in town for a week for a family wedding. It is every bit as lovely as it looks in the photos, but the location really made the whole trip incredible! Here are some of the great adventures that we enjoyed: --Walked to Coors Field for a Rockies game --Ran on the Cherry Creek and Platt River paths almost every morning --Picked up cruiser bikes for rent (only $6 !) and cruised Cherry Creek --Explored the Children's Museum and Downtown Aquarium (5 minute drive!) --Walked to LoDo (Lower Downtown) and caught the free 16th Street Mall bus --Easy driving from central location to wedding events around town If you are a fit and active family, don't pass up this wonderful spot! The owners were very professional (you'll see this from the very first email) and the house and gorgeous yard are perfectly maintained.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you so much for the kind words Helen! The terrific location is why we originally bought our home and then later thought it would make a great VRBO. We are so glad you and your family had a great time during your stay in Denver! There is no better place than Denver in the summer for fabulous outdoor activities, or our beautiful backyard for relaxing in the hot tub or hosting a family/group BBQ. Please come back to visit Denver in the winter. Our mountains are spectacular! --Ginger and Chuck
