The listing was accurate and the fenced backyard was a bonus as we had our sons dog along with ours confirmed for our stay of one month. The property was clean but in need of remodel..i.e. floors and furniture were completely without varnish. Furniture was shabby, thriftstore chic! West Seattle has a great vibe and wonderful restaurants...the bridge and traffic to Seattle get's exhausting due to the traffic.Easy Easy ferry ride to go and explore Vashon Island... also Alki beach area. We did have a contract for 3 dogs and paid in full for one month.. The owner did not listen to my voicemail and came into the house to do her weekly change of sheets...my dog bolted out the front door. Happy to say my dog came back but we were given a 48 hour eviction notice and threatened that she would have the police come to escort us out as trespassers.Of course it is not legal but a long term renter should be aware. Getting over the bridge to Seattle brings you right into the heart of Seattle, highlights of the Aquarium, Pikes Place etc...just don't make a wrong turn as there is so much bridge construction.
Owner response:We were sorry that we had to ask this group to leave. While it is not true that we called the police to evict them because of an escaped dog (my husband caught the dog and returned her to the yard within a few minutes of her escape), we did politely ask them to find alternate accomodations when we saw that the dogs were scratching/chewing holes in the living room furniture. We work hard to treat all of our guests the same reasonable, professional way that we would like to be treated ourselves. In this case, we gave the guests a full refund for the cancelled nights and refunded their entire damage deposit. My husband even delivered the refund in cash so that they would have the money immediately available for use during the remainder of their trip.

Thank you so much for having such a nice homey atmosphere. The Christmas tree and decorations were extremely appreciated. The kids had a great time - we brought Christmas presents for them and stuffed the stockings. Wow - too much to ask for, you guys are the best!

The Moonlight Guest House met and exceeded all of our needs on our last trip to Seattle for our daughters wedding. The house was clean, the rooms were comfortable and the location was exceptional. It was close to the necessities, the washer and dryer helped us keep our packing light and there was enough room that we weren't tripping over ourselves. It was a very quick trip to Seattle (15 minutes outside of rush hour), when we wanted or needed to make the trip. It was also a nice surprise to find that there was Halloween candy already provided for the trick or treaters. There is only one bathroom, which is a little small, but there's a shower in the basement if it's absolutely needed so it didn't impact our stay. We'll definitely look to stay at Moonlight again on our next trip.

This home was described perfectly. The old style craftsman style of this home was perfect. I met and spoke to two of the neighbors and they were friendly and helpful. The size was perfect for 4 adults and my 7 year old twins. I could not keep them from the upstairs. They loved the stairs and the two bedrooms upstairs provided a lot of entertainment time. We had no time to just hang out though. We went somewhere everyday using the very convenient bus stop and it was very cheap or the water taxi. We bused to Alki Beach and walked all the way to the water taxi. We went to the Space Needle, Pioneer Square, the Aquarium, the Experience Music Project, Pike's Market, Hard Rock Cafe, Iver's, the waterfront shops almost daily and the zoo and a harbor cruise. The house is in West Seattle which was a great location and the street is quiet and we found a short cut to the 7-11. Loved the basement and appreciated greatly the washer and dryer. We did not use the backyard but that was only because we were always on the go. We did not have a car but that did not stop us. We highly recommend renting from Joe and Laura. When we had a problem with the internet, Laura stopped by and then also helped my husband with the code for the internet. They are wonderful hosts.

We rented the Guest House to host relatives and they loved the house, the neighborhood, and the easy access to get to other parts of Seattle. The tasteful use of native perennials in the landscaping is a nice plus. The house is lovely inside and out. There are a number of stairs to climb to the main floor but if that isn't an issue, this is a wonderful option and I highly recommend the Moonlight Guesthouse.

Stayed at the Moonlight Guest House over easter weekend with my family and my wifes' parents. The size of the house was perfect (8 adults) and the proximity to downtown was awesome. Took in a Mariners game (5 minutes from the ballpark), went to Alki for some beach time and dine at SunFish Seafood Resturant (it is in the Sunset Magazine's top 10 list for Fish N Chips). This is a great option for families when it comes to price and proximity.

I rented this house for a week in July while we were looking at colleges for my twin sons. I chose this property over others listed here because of the price (which is a great value, especially when we considered what it would cost for 8 people in a hotel for a week) so I really wasn't concerned about any of the amenities or the size of the property. I figured as long as the home was in a nice, safe area that was good enough for me. Boy was I pleasently surprised!!! First of all the house is beautiful, full of character and charm and it is MUCH larger than it looks in the pictures! With spacious bedrooms that easily fit 4 teenagers and two nice sized bedrooms on the first floor. All the rooms were big enough to accomodate our large group comfortably and the bonus was the big basement with its own shower! We could send the kids down there when we wanted quiet and have the boys shower down there so they didn't hog the bathroom. It was great! There was a lovely backyard which my two youngest loved with an awesome view of the mountain. Loved it!! The area is great and after seeing all of seattle we prefered it to anywhere else. It is quiet, near everything you could want including an easy drive to the Water Taxi and the beaches. It is also a short walk to the busstop if you prefer and we used both means of transportation to get around. It was a piece of cake, even with 5 kids in tow. Laura and Joe are very nice people, and came to introduce themselves and offer any help after we arrived. Joe was helpful with a question I had to cal him with about some directions and Laura was very kind and returned my security deposit the same day we left the property which was great! All in all it was an awesome stay and I cannot wait to go back!

We had such a wonderful time at the Moonlight Guest House. There were 7 of us staying here for our son's wedding. It couldn't have been more perfect. The location was fantastic since our son's wedding was in West Seattle. The house was very clean and so comfortable (including the beds). After the wedding both families converged here and enjoyed the house and yard (yes, even the weather cooperated). We will defnitely stay here again when the opportunity arises. Thank you to the Ross family for a very enjoyable and unforgetable weekend.

The Moonlight Guest House was perfect for our family of four plus a friend. Even though the location is very convenient to the heart of the city, it's in a very quiet and friendly neighborhood. The West Seattle community nightlife on California Ave is close by, and the Harbor Ave views of the city can't be beat. Take the Water Taxi to the Seattle waterfront without dealing with the downtown traffic. We also spent a lot of time at the large dining room table talking and playing games. When we were hungry late at night, the nearby Metropolitan Market is a gourmet delight and is open 24/7. And the owners, Joe and Laura, couldn't be more accommodating. Highly recommended!

AWESOME HOUSE! We were looking for a place where my husband &I & two young children, his mother, sister & brother-in-law could come together after a death in the family. This house was PERFECT! Because of the age of the house and reasonable price, I was a bit nervous to see what we would find when we opened the door. WE LOVED IT! The kids (and adults) ran through the house investigating every little hidden space. The house was immaculate, comfortable, had everything we needed including extra blankets, towels, shampoo, soap, an iron, even extra toothbrushes. We'll never stay in a hotel again when visiting family in West Seattle. Thank you Ross Family for your wonderful hospitality!

Our Thanksgiving spent here was great! A hotel never would have worked so we decided to give a weekend house rental a try. We worried about the size, which wasn’t a problem even though we had 3+ family households. Our two sons and their families made for a full house. But we cooked the turkey with all the trimmings and felt very comfortable. Our most difficult challenge was Seattle’s recycle program which became a laugh when it came to tossing something- “ok-foodwaste? or garbage?” So funny at times. We loved our experience there, easy to find and very close to downtown and the ferry terminals to the islands. We hope to do it again. Thanks Laura and Joe!

This place was perfect for the 5 of us. We are a family of gals who need privacy 'cause on occasion we have a guy around - and this place had a perfect layout for all of us to have that privacy. The home contained all that we needed and more and the location was really very good and very convenient to everything we wanted to do (Mariners game, downtown activities, etc)...We appreciate the accuracy of the website information and the ease of which to access the home. The owner's communcation was perfect and other than Seattle having so much to offer - meaning we were not "home" much so we did not get to explore the neighbourhood - we look forward to returning and doing just that, especially part of the Alki beach area which is very close. Thanks Laura and Joe.

A casual, comfortable home in a quiet and safe neighborhood for my 4 teenagers, my husband and myself to relax, work on our lap tops, watch cable TV, eat from the frig, or take a 6 minute walk to a Starbucs. Easy access to the bus line where my children took it to the University District to meet up with us at the Univ of Washington. Served our needs with a working washer and dryer, and even a basement cloths line. Plenty of room and beds. Mr. and Mrs. Ross responded quickly and informatively to our e-mails. We really enjoyed BEAUTIFUL Seattle. Sincerely, The Zomback's

We needed a space for family members to be together to support an adult son having cancer surgery at Swedish. The house was great - we had separate spaces if we wanted and great gathering places. Our grandsons could squeal and laugh and go for walks and that was wonderful! And Joe and Laura were like extended family in their willingness to make a stressful time as comfortable as possible. Thanks Joe & Laura!

We rented this home for our family that were coming in from out of town for our wedding. The location and size were perfect for our needs and the price was unbeatable! There was plenty of room for everyone to have their space and the back yard offered a beautiful area to sit and visit. Laura and Joe were wonderful, accomodating, easy to contact and work with,we couldn't have asked for a nicer couple. If you are looking for a nice, quiet, centrally located home away from home, this is the place. The neighbors are nice, the area is beautiful and everything is so close by. I would highly recommend this home, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Laura and Joe, it was definitely a pleasure!
