We enjoyed our stay at kahena cliff house. The property was as advertised. Fantastic, well apointed home with great views in a very quiet "neighborhood". We truly enjoyed the sounds of the high winter surf just at the cliff! We enjoyed the home so much that we didn't get out as much as we had planned, but the puna region is fantastic! A great home base for exploring, or for just staying on. Plan to stop in hilo kta to buy fresh fish or grass fed island beef to grill! (all grilling supplies were available- great gas grill)

We were fortunate to stay at this unique house. The house itself is a work of art. Concrete construction combined with many windows, pitched on the cliff, with the crashing waves and endless ocean view. Listed as 2bedroom and loft, spacious bedrooms, comfy beds, each with private bathroom, very very clean, and well maintained. The kitchen stocked with my appliances, dishes. The location is close to tidal pools, Lava tree park and Pahoa, where there are shops and eateries, Thai, Boogie Pizza,to name a few, and Island Naturals, a health food store. A half- hour or so drive to the Mac Nut factory, Big Island Candies, and quaint Hilo town.We totally enjoyed our stay with the music from the coqui, shy gekos peeking at us,and the amazing starry sky. The outdoor shower with tanning deck were an added treat. We highly recommend this rental as a peaceful spot for adults, and families with adult children. The listing photos are true to the property, the house itself is a real treat. We will definitely stay again and recommend the Cliff house at Kehena Point to our friends. Mahalo!

"My husband and I very much enjoyed our 4 night stay in this one-of-a-kind place, in this one -of-a-kind location. We came to the East side of your beautiful island to experience Mother Nature - and did she deliver! Our first night, the waves were so strong it seemed they would crash right through. Very humbling for two inland city-dwellers. We will miss the frog song, chasing the geckos and we will always rememberr our too brief time in Paradise." - Lorel and Tom, Vancouver, BC Canada

The views were incredible, architecture amazing, but we were disappointed because it was not functional or comfortable. The views...awesome, but please either wash or replace your windows so we can see through them! The master bedroom toilet does not flush (obviously a problem before), therefore you must go down two flights of stairs (in the middle of the night) on a shaky spiral staircase to use the guest restroom on the bottom floor. There was no way to make ice, the only freezer was outside in a storage space. The only cushioned furniture was a two person love seat, it's back was created out of pillows covered in disintegrating (uncomfortable) bamboo. Size (10" diameter )of sinks in kitchen does not work. No flat screen TV (as advertised), no TV in the guest bedroom (as advertised). Please buy nicer sheets and new pillows for beds. Consider adding some things to make it easier for travelers: S&P shakers, sugar packets, personal shampoo, etc, etc... We did not feel the price we paid was reflected in either the up keep or details in this rental.
Owner response:Thank you for your comments. The architecture of this home is quite unique and different than a traditional home. Some of the windows in the house have been permanently etched by the salt in the air from the ocean, so even when the windows are clean, it can be difficult to see through them. We are having a professional window restorer come to look at the windows to see if they can be fixed. Both before and after these guests were here, the cleaning crew checked the toilet upstairs and it was working. We also offered to have a plumber come down to check it, but the guests refused. The pillows on the sofa will be replaced. The flat screen TV had broken last week. Another TV will replace it. New sheets and pillows will be purchased and provided. This is the first time we have had negative comments, but we will resolve the issues as addressed, for those items that can be changed. - the Management

If you want a real taste of Hawaii stop searching this is the place. We planned our vacation on the kona side of the island but decided to give the puno side a try because everything felt real homogenized. This was the most amazing place. The owners left a manual of excursions that are unbelievable. The place is just simply stunning. IF you want to experience Hawaii...really experience hawaii then stay here. This is the perfect place for a couple. Be is good health/shape because the stairs are a workout!! So if you want to hear the ocean, see the ocean , smell the ocean..stay here!!!
Owner response:Thank you Andrew for joining us at Kehena Point. Please come back! Joanie Lehr, Property Manager
