Awesome place to stay!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guest: Rita K.
Date of Stay: 03/29/12 Review Submitted: 04/17/12

This is such a beautiful house we stayed for around 2 weeks! It has big backyard, comfortable beds, large kitchen, and many other good things! We recommend this house for large groups, or families. Ralph provide a play yard for our children, so they can play and sleep there. They also have high chair, and toys for the ocean. My kids were really happy to play in such a wonderful backyard, and hear birds singing)) It was always quiet there, no worries so, people can really enjoy their vacation))) Highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!

Owner response:We love our guests! Consider making our place yours.

Great Vacation Rental

Guest: M and M (Grangeville, Idaho)
Date of Stay: 01/18/12 Review Submitted: 01/30/12

Our family of 5 stayed at this property for 4 nights. We would have stayed longer but wanted to see the other side of the island and didn't want to drive back and forth. We all agreed that the accomodations were excellent. The home is so nice and comfotable and the grounds are beautifully landscaped. My son-in-law said it was the nicest place he had ever stayed! The location was perfect, quiet, peaceful but close to everything in the area. The downstairs rental area was more than enough room for the 5 of us. It could have easily accomodated more people. Ralph is a very gracious host and provided lots of helpful information about the area. All 5 of us would highly recommend this home to anyone looking to vacation on the Bid Island.

Owner response:We love our renters. Thanks to all who choose to make our place theirs.

Our group of four adults stayed at the Kailua Kona home for one week. The house is sooo nice and comfortable. There was anything we need. Enough space in the bed rooms, fully equipped kitchen, two fridge, table tennis, plenty of towels, Boogie Boards, etc. We also loved the very nicely yard for breakfast with the sunrise and also dinner. The beautiful yard became a favorite place to relax for everyone. The house is a perfect start to the close restaurants, shops and the ocean. Special thanks to Ralph and his family for their great hospitality and their special service in providing fresh banana´s and papaya´s. We would recommend the house to our friends and family for sure and looking forward to stay again at this lovely home.

Date of Stay: 08/31/11 Review Submitted: 09/09/11

Our group of six stayed at this Kona house during the Queen Liliu'okalani outrigger canoe races. When we first drove up to the house, we thought we may have had the wrong house because it was sooo nice:) We had a wonderful experience there. it is spacious, fully self contained. There was everything we needed and more. The kitchen was well equipped; beds all comfortable; the TV room had a great supply of DVDs and the ping pong table ad games were a great addition. The house is a short drive down the hill to restaurants, shops and the ocean. You get the early morning sunrise over mountain from the back of the house and can sit around the front in the evening to view the beautiful sunset over the ocean. The backyard is a well manicured paradise. We would recommend the house to our friends and family for sure!

Makes you want to move to the Big Island!

Guest: Ray (Cedarburg, WI)
Date of Stay: 09/27/10 Review Submitted: 10/05/10

Our group of seven stayed at the Kailua Kona home for six nights. The rental area is the lower half of the home that the owner lives in. We seldom ran into or heard each other. I asked if we were making too much noise and the owner said no; I think he was being nice. There is space for two cars in the driveway. The home is situated in a quiet neighborhood overlooking downtown Kailua Kona and the ocean, which are minutes away. The home is very comfortable. There are three bedrooms, which allowed for each of the three couples in our group to have their own. Our daughter slept in one of the four twin size beds in the cubicle area. One of the bedrooms is separated from the main living area by a curtain instead of a door-I'm guessing that this is because it doesn't have an egress window to exit through in case of an emergency-which makes it a little less private than the other two bedrooms. However, this last bedroom is still very comfortable to sleep in. All of the rooms have overhead fans to help circulate the air. The kitchen is nice and has plenty of dishes, pots, pans and utensils. This makes it easy to cook in for most meals. There are two sink areas, each with their own refrigerator; the second refrigerator came in handy. There is also a propane powered grill on the patio that you're allowed to use. There are two bathrooms, each with its own shower. There are plenty of towels, but there is a washer and dryer in one of the closets in case you run out. Having the washer and dryer makes it easy to pack light since you can do laundry during the week, if you're so inclined. The media room is handy if you happen to be there long enough to get tired of all of the beaches-Did you know the water goes all the way around!-snorkeling, seeing the volcanoes, zip lining, shopping, etc... My only complaints are that the Halo 3 DVD is scratched and won't load and the Packer game wasn't on any of the 100's of channels! The yard is nicely landscaped and makes for very scenic breakfasts. The hammock became a favorite place to relax for everyone, one-at-a-time that is. We didn't see any turkeys, but we heard a couple of gobblers one morning. Highly recommended.

Excellent Time in Kona

Date of Stay: 05/18/10 Review Submitted: 06/02/10

OUR FAMILY STAYED AT THE SUDBURY PROPERTY 5/18 - 24/2010. WE WERE IN HAWAII TO WITNESS OUR SON'S WEDDING. WE HAD SIX IN OUR GROUP. MY PARENTS, WHO ARE IN THEIR 80'S LOVED THE PATIO AND THE BACKYARD. IT WAS THEIR FAVORITE PLACE TO BE. ALONG WITH MY PARENTS WERE MY WIFE, MYSELF AND OUR TWENTY-SOMETHING DAUGHTER AS WELL AS OUR TWENTY-SOMETHING SON WHO GOT MARRIED. THE PROPERTY WAS AS IT WAS PRESENTED IN THE PICTURES ON THE INTERNET. IT WAS CLEAN AND WELL MAINTAINED. ANY QUESTIONS WE HAD WERE PROMPTLY ANSWERED. IT WAS RELAXING AND COMFORTABLE. IT MADE OUR STAY IN KONA AN ENJOYABLE ONE. ONE DAY THE OWNER LEFT FRESH BANANAS FROM THE BACKYARD FOR US TO ENJOY. THE LAYOUT OF THE LIVING SPACE WAS VERY NICE. WITH THREE BEDROOMS AND TWO BATHROOMS AND IT WORKED WELL FOR OUR FAMILY. THE KITCHEN WAS GREAT. WE USED IT MAINLY FOR BREAKFAST AND LUNCH. I AM RECOMMENDING THIS PROPERTY TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHO HAVE ASKED ABOUT OUR TRIP TO THE ISLANDS. WE ENJOYED A DINNER CRUISE ONE EVENING AND ATTENDED A LUAU ANOTHER EVENING. WE ALSO DID AN ISLAND TOUR THROUGH ROBERTS HAWAII TOURS AND I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT. OUR TOUR GUIDE WAS HARVEY MOO AND HE ENLIGHTENED US CONCERNING THE ISLAND OF HAWAII FOR THE ENTIRE DAY. HARVEY SUGGESTED WE EAT AT QUINN'S AND THAT WAS A VERY GOOD DINING EXPERIENCE. THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP TO KONA WAS WATCHING OUR SON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW BE MARRIED IN THE LDS KONA TEMPLE AND OUR STAY AT THE SUDBURY PROPERTY CAME IN A CLOSE SECOND. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY TO A GROUP OF TEN OR SMALLER. OUR GROUP OF SIX FIT VERY COMFORTABLY.

This peaceful home has become part of my daughter's weeding pictures. We where there from May 2 until May 8, 2010. We where 10 adults and this place has plenty of room for everybody, very gorgeous back yard, one morning i was resting on the hammock when a wild turkey flew over and landed on the yard, I think it was a turkey. The owner lives upstairs, but you don't even notice, he is a very nice and friendly person.

Spectacular Tropical Vacation Home!

Guest: Robin & Dan (San Francisco Bay Area, CA)
Date of Stay: 04/14/10 Review Submitted: 04/30/10

We came to Kona with high expectations, but this home far exceeded them. The house was perfect for my family of four, including two small children. The interior is immaculate, with stunning and tasteful details throughout. The home was also perfectly clean and very well equipped, with all of the kitchen equipment, entertainment, and beach gear we could ever hope for. The backyard is even better than the interior, if that is possible. The landscaping is spectacular, with mature fruit trees, lots of shade, an expansive grassy play area, an extremely comfortable hammock, a view of sunrise over the volcano, and a large shaded table for dining and spending time. The house sits on the very edge of a residential area, so the back yard faces undeveloped, quiet mountainside, the front has unobstructed ocean views, and there is no traffic noise at all (just birds chirping). I can't say enough good things about this home, or the kindness of Ralph and his family. Thanks so much to all of you!!

Wonderful Place to Stay!

Date of Stay: 01/24/10 Review Submitted: 04/10/10

Our family of seven adults stayed at this property for two weeks, we really cannot think of a bad thing to say about it. It was very spacious, clean, nicely decorated and the yard is nothing short of amazing. Ralph was very helpful and even though he lives upstairs in the house you feel like you have the place all to yourselves. Everything you could possibly need is there and if you should think of something missing, Ralph is more than happy to find it for you. We really wanted to have the real Kona coffee and after purchasing some we found no coffee grinder in the house but as soon as we asked we had one delivered to us. We cooked most of our dinners at the house and ate all our meals out on the lanai with the beautiful view of the yard, it was so relaxing and a great way to spend family time connecting with one another. Our favourite beach was Hapuna and it was quite a drive to get there but we did it almost every day and had a blast with the boogie boards. Coming back to Ralph's home was so great after a long day out exploring and playing in the water. We would definately come back and stay here and would recommend it to any one especially if you have a larger group. Downtown is a very short drive and lots of good restaurants, the farmers market and shopping are just minutes away.

Fantastic! the most perfect vacation home which is quite easy to find and centrally located. Ralph is a most gracious host and at the same time allows privacy. Clean and tastefully decorated , I highly recommend this home to all. A wonderful place for a lifetime of memories, we are so thankful that our family had the chance to visit to the Big Island. This vacation home left my sons with a longing for more future visits with us, that is another gift in itself.

What a perfect place stay! My husband and I stayed here for almost 2 weeks. We had originally planned to stay for nine days, but there place was great we extended our vacation because we just didn't want to leave. I felt so comfortable in the house. There is everything there that one needs to feel like home. Every kitchen appliance needed to prepare wonderful meals is there for you. I mean not only were there good pots and pans, there were spices, quality dishes, but all the little extras were included. This rental offered plenty of entertainment from video games, great music selection, premium cable services, ping pong, and board games. Additional the owners give wonderful advice about where to go and what to do. They were so friendly to us, I truly believe my husband and I stayed in paradise. Thank you Ralph and family for superb hospitality.

Truly, this is a beautiful guesthouse. It is elegant and finished with style from the countertops to the wood trim to the lovely ceramic work. I had an amazing time on the Big Island. It is a mystical and magical place...and I don't use those words in combination very often or with any hyperbole. I will make an offering to the Volcano Goddess Pele in the hopes that I will return here one day. Mahalo, Mahalo, Mahalo!

The landscape, the exquisitely decorated interior, the serenity of the neighbourhood, the cleanliness, the welcoming friendliness of the owner, I really am at a loss for words. The decor is impeccable, no detail was left out, and if it wasn't my first trip to Hawai'i, I could have just stayed at the house all day! Thank you for being so hospitable and accomodating, I don't think i could have asked for a better stay or for a better owner!

Absolutely perfect

Guest: alantoronto (Toronto)
Date of Stay: 02/14/09 Review Submitted: 02/23/09

This house is so beautiful. It's unbelievably beautiful. The landscaping, the architecture - everything is impeccably maintained. It feels like its a celebrity vacation home maintained a large group of workers, but it's actually maintained by Ralph and his three sons. It's obvious that they have a lot of pride in their house, and they put in a tremendous amount of effort making it look perfect. We felt like we were in paradise. We had a group of 13 people, and we stayed quite comfortably in the bottom floor of the house. Ralph asked us about the make-up of our group - how many are couples, singles, etc. - and set up the rooms and beds to accomodate the group. The house had plenty of space for all of us to enjoy ourselves and never feel crowded. There are two kitchen areas for people to prepare meals, a large TV area, and plenty of backyard space with a nice patio area, beautiful palm trees and all sorts of exotic plants, flowers, fruits, and the most beautiful lawn I have ever seen. The backyard was the most popular spot amongst our friends. We could have easily spent our entire vacation out on this backyard. The house had everything we could ask for. All the basic cookware was there, but there were all sorts of extras - for example, they had a crockpot and a fondue maker! And whenever we needed anything extra, all we needed to do was ask Ralph, and he would bring them to us - extra blankets, coolers, extra beach towels... And then to top it all off, Ralph and his family are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He respected our privacy by leaving us to enjoy the house to ourselves, but we would have been equally pleased if he spent more time with us because he was a really interesting person to talk to. I highly recommend this house.

Aloha in Kailua Town

Guest: Lisa and Corey (Thousand Oaks, California)
Date of Stay: 09/18/08 Review Submitted: 09/26/08

We are an airline family that makes frequent visits to the islands, therefore stay in many different houses, on all the different islands. This Kailua house we will most certainly return too. Hoohrey, I don't have to search anymore for the perfect house! Very finely decorated. Floorplan was spacious, granite counters, tile floors. Beautiful woodwork and trim, brand new carpet in the two bedrooms with the third bedroom in tile. Furniture and linens new, not worn and dated. Reading lights over the beds, big closets with lots of hangers. Washer/Dryer. Can accomadate a large group or a more intimate group. Hawaiian music playing on our arrival, the owner was most hospitable. Our stay was for 6 days. We traveled with another family with two small children, 3 and 6. We have three kids 15,13 and 9 years old. The room arrangements were perfect. The two couples took the two master bedrooms. The 15 year old took the third bedroom that also had a trundle if it would of been needed. The 4 kids all took the 'bonus' room which had four twin beds, their own desk, closet and privacy curtain in each mini room that was divided by a wall per two twin beds. So the 3 and 6 year old were separated by a solid partition from my 13 and 9 year old. And each kid was separated again by a black privacy curtain. It was a very cool set-up and having a 13 year old daughter she had all the privacy needed from the little ones! The kids loved the game room which had a huge flat screen T.V. and all the games and movies, XBox etc. The adults were able to sit outside and enjoy the fabulous surroundings, listen to the creek that was running due to the rains up in the hills. The owner lives totally separated from the downstairs house. We have our own entrance, long driveway and ample parking for our two rental cars. Boogie boards, umbrella, buckets, towels are available. Fresh papayas, tomatoes, herbs from the garden. The kitchen had plenty of serving bowls, sharp knives, pots/pans, spices for entertaining, which we also did as we had local friends come over to the house and they were delighted at the spaciousness, privacy, the gardens, that they were going to let their friends who visit, in on our find! I am including as many details as I can, as I know how important it is to find the right house for your dream vacation. I hope this review will help others in fine-tuning their selections! Thank-you! Lisa and Corey

It is very close to the beach and city but also in a very quite area. The owners are great people, very nice and friendly. In my mind the greatest place to stay in Kailua Kona. Thanks!!

We thoroughly enjoyed the fresh and clean accomodations..Everything was brand new including all the linens..It was open and spacious for the little ones to runabout..The owner was most helpful, though he lives up stairs in the home above us, we were immediately taken care of if we needed anything. The two bedrooms afforded us our privacy..There were two trundle beds in the open area by the sofas and HD entertainment center. It was difficult for anyone to sleep in this area until everyone else went to bed. This was the only drawback for us.The landscaping was really beautiful..Everyone enjoyed swinging on the hammock and listening to the birds.
