Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-6)
This is no ordinary rental property. This is the personal home of a renowned sculptor and distinguished foreign correspondent whose tastes and aesthetics have remodeled this single-family ranch house in a serene valley of old Snowmass just minutes drive from the heart of Aspen. This is a modern and charming home that sits on 20 beautiful acres along Capitol Creek with spectacular 360 degree views of the surrounding Elk Mountains.
To live in this valley is to enjoy the peace, tranquility and simplicity of country living just a short drive from the hustle and bustle and excitement of famous Aspen's active urban cultural and sports life. This is a valley of magnificent sunsets, soft breezes, undulating hay fields a pastures where horses and cattle graze. It also offers great mountain biking and hiking in summer and cross country skiing in winter and, for the meditative mind, a Benedictine Monastery just two miles away.
The house itself is a furnished single-story restored ranch house. It has charm, style, space and comfort. It consists of three bedrooms (two with queen beds, one with two twins), two tiled bathrooms (one with bathtub, the other with a steam shower), a graciously large living and dining room area just off a modern gourmet kitchen with all the modern appliances from stove to microwave.
A large redwood deck just off the living and dining area provides plenty of space for quiet reading, meditating, gazing at nature or entertaining. The house itself is nestled among aspen and spruce trees, dissected by running streams and next to a placid pond where ducks and geese are known to come to rest. There is also a Bocce court.
From the front door one is only some seven minutes away from breakfast at Basalt's Cafe Bernard or 20 minutes from the Gondola on Aspen Mountain. In summer enjoy rafting the Roaring Fork, fly fishing on the Frying Pan, hiking up the foot of the 14,000 foot high Capitol Peak, or the more intellectually stimulating fare offered by the Aspen Music Festival, the Aspen Institute and the Aspen-Santa Fe Ballet. In winter downhill ski on Aspen's four ski mountains (Ajax, Highlands, Buttermilk, Snowmass) or wander up to cross-country ski (and eat) at Ashcroft. In all seasons enjoy jazz at the Belly Up and other local music clubs.
