Keywords: Studio, Apartment, Montmartre, rooftop, Sacre Coeur
Located in an unspoiled corner of Montmartre, our 8th floor apartment has unparallel views over the rooftops of Paris and the Sacré Coeur Basilica. Situated in a charming 1920s stone Art Deco building the studio is accessible by elevator. The building maintains its charm with its original birdcage elevator, stained glass and art deco motifs.
Being on the 8th floor, the studio has a brightness and luminosity enhanced by 3 sets of windows. The studio is made up of a main living area, a separate, fully-equipped kitchen, and a separate bathroom. The apartment is tastefully and comfortably decorated and accommodates with ease 2 adults (30m2). It is cool in the Summer with 3 sets of windows and good air flow, and warm in the Winter with central heating.
It is in close proximity to some of the sights of Montmartre; the Sacre Coeur, Place des Tertres, Montmartre vineyard, the Clignancourt flea market, the staircases of Montmartre, and several street markets. The area with its small cobbled streets that wind up the hill has been adopted as home by artists and celebrities past and present. There are many good restaurants and bars. You're close enough to Sacré Coeur to hear its bells, but not close enough as to be inundated by its crowds. It is the perfect place to read, rest, and relax after having experienced the excitement that Paris has to offer.
The studio has easy access to 3 métro stations, several major bus routes and the Vélib bicycle rental system.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2006
My partner and I own this apartment; we live in the US and spend four to five months per year in Paris. We hope that visitors who stay at our studio come to enjoy Paris as much as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 18
After having lived in Paris for 10 years, we came to know and love this corner of Paris very well. For us it is more than a vacation home; it is a second home. When we come to Paris we really do feel at home and very much part of a neighborhood. Between us, we do a lot of writing and this was one of the things that inspired us to locate in this area. We chose the place as a quiet, romantic retreat in fabled Montmartre, giving us easy access to the City, while also giving us the option of staying home to read and write. When we were originally looking to buy an apartment in Paris we spent several months looking. When we entered our apartment for the first time we knew straightaway that this was the one.
The Unique Benefits of this Apartment
We return to Paris several times a year and between the two of us we do a lot of writing. And when in Paris, Montmartre IS OUR HOME. This is something that we were looking for in an apartment - a retreat. A place to enjoy everything that Paris has to offer but also a place to come back to and relax, write and reflect. We invite our guests to come back, because as you get to know the neighborhood, the neighborhood becomes YOURS. You find YOUR baker, YOUR cheese shop, YOUR wine merchant. And they DO remember you, the more you visit them. You feel like a real local, when you walk into YOUR neighborhood café and the waiter welcomes you as a "regular," and brings "your usual."

A room of one's own in a sweet neighborhood

The only thing that can make Paris even more memorable than its famed sites is feeling like a true Parisian with a space of your own. This apartment was in a lovely, safe residential neighborhood, a hop, skip and a jump from the metro (which is key as there aren't really taxis in the area). After long days of walking it was wonderful to come to a well appointed, bright, clean, modern, quiet, comfortable space where everything I could need was waiting for me (a fridge for my market goodies, a full kitchen to make a snack, a tidy bathroom, cable channels to catch up on US news, a telephone to check in with folks in the US for free -- or make reservations for the following day!). As a woman traveling alone, it was safe and easy (and there was an elevator, a rarity in Paris, which was really important as I had a heavy suitcase). The owners left clear, detailed instructions on how to use everything, as well as restaurant recommendations and info for the best markets in the area. I hope to return soon!

My husband and I loved staying here. The flat is small but charming, and very comfortable for one or two people. It's light and airy because it's on the top floor and has a huge window (with the magical view over the rooftops, exactly as pictured!), and amazingly quiet for Paris because it looks onto an inner courtyard. It's in a residential neighborhood (though very close to the more famous parts of Montmartre, and a 5-minute walk from the Metro), and the owners provide all sorts of useful information to help you feel at home, both in the flat itself and in the quartier. A perfect place for those who want to experience the pleasures of daily Parisian life--cafes, food shops (bread and pastries at Arnaud Delmontel on the rue Damremont, chocolates from Arnaud Larhrer next door, the cheese shops on the rue du Poteau), street markets, parks, neighborhood bistros (we especially liked Le Grand 8, on the rue Lamarck)--while exploring the city. Dealing with the owners was a pleasure in itself: they could not have been more helpful, and made sure that every aspect of the rental, from initial inquiry to final return of keys and deposit, ran smoothly.

Our Paris adventure was a huge success! Thank you for the use of your apartment. It was perfect for us and it is truly a room with a view. We had perfect Summer weather and our stay including watching the full moon rise over the Sacre Coeur each night. That was a bonus. We loved being part of the Montmartre neighborhood.

We had a great time at the studio in Montmartre, this is a wonderful place in a beautiful neighborhood. We were thinking that it is great to have the comfort “à l’Américaine” (clean, great shower, plug adapters etc) with the European cachet! We will certainly pass the word around and come back one day, soon I hope!

By the way, the apartment is just lovely! I have been having such a nice time here. My parents are already planning to book your apartment for their trip here next year if it is available and I have sent the link to your website to all of my friends. I love Montmartre - such a nice area and away from the hustle and bustle of the more densely packed areas. Thanks for all of your help and for making this such a nice vacation.

This was our first trip to Paris and the apartment was fantastic. It was so well located and next to such an amazing array of food vendors, especially the cheese shop! We got engaged on our trip and definitely plan on returning and we're sending our friends to stay at this apartment. Thanks again for everything. Take care.
