Blossoms at Cinco Estrellas. Hummingbirds may be nesting in the tree out back. Cool, no wind. Rooster sleeps late, because I hear him at 8:45 as I sit on back porch. The family that gathered here last night for celebration enjoyed the ambience of this lovely cottage. Thanks!

What a great place to stay! And so close to different highlights in Texas. Very personal atmosphere. And very different from a person coming from Amsterdam and San Antonio.

We always love coming to this part of the world, but our stay at Cinco Estrellas was an unexpected delight! Beautiful, relaxing, just right! The only problem, now we have to buy a Viking professional range! Thanks, The Sheriffs

This house reminds me of my parents' farm house in Ireland. The wide walls and the deep windows. Also the painted floors. The house was very comfortable and loved having tea and coffee on the back porch.

We enjoyed your wonderful adobe and look forward to returning someday. The patio and fire pit were especially relaxing. The Townies were well enjoyed while trekking through Alpine. Overall, it was a very relaxing stay with all the amenities of home.

We just returned from our stay at Cinco Estrellas. It was just beautiful! The weather was perfect and the house was like a dream. My boys were just mesmerized by the colors and the art....yet they felt at home and relaxed. The fruit and coffee where the best. During the day we rode bikes and at night we gazed at the blanket of stars that seemed close enough to touch. There are no words to express what a joy our stay was. We were already planning our return before leaving for home.

My family of 5 just spent a long weekend in Alpine for a family wedding. Cinco Estrellas was perfect for us. The big kids (11 & 13) stayed on the pull out couch and the baby was in a pac-n-play in the bedroom with us. The kitchen is AMAZING. We cooked a big breakfast every morning for the kids before heading out for the day. The location was great, walkable to most places in town. And the bikes were a bonus, the kids loved riding around town on them. Our extended family congregated at Cinco Estellas in the evenings so the kids could run around the nice back lawn...it was for sure the place to be! Our expectations were exceeded and we highly recommend this casita to anyone looking for a place to stay in Alpine!

Cinco Estrellas is such a beautiful place and a little slice of heaven in West Texas. We set out on adventures every day including the museum at Sul Ross, Fort Davis, Balmorhea, the star party at the McDonald Observatory, Marathon, and Big Bend National Park. Our son is now the newest Junior Ranger at both Fort Davis and Big Bend. Although it was difficult to pull ourselves away, we were happy to return to this peaceful place each evening. Every detail has been considered and is beautiful! Thank you so very much. We will return. Blessings are here. Regards, Annwen, Allen and Kaven (age 5) of Austin

The cottage is wonderful. Each detail adds flavor to the stay - it sets the mood for a West Texas visit. We enjoyed a cinnamon roll at Bread and Breakfast before heading out to Big Bend. After a terrific dinner at Reata, we traveled to the Mcdonald Observatory for the 9:30 star party - saw the blaze of the International Space Station, 3 meteors and Saturn! Fantastic! (Be sure to take a jacket) Heading to Marfa for breakfast then on to the spring fed pool at Balmorhea before heading home. Thank you Oksana for everything - give your sweet baby a kiss for us! Kathy and Lionel, Mil Gracias! We had a perfect visit. The guest house is beautiful in every detail, comfortable and filled with a peaceful spirit. We had Raspas every day and ate some great meals at Reata. Your patio is perfect for coffee in the morning and dancing in the dark. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We can't wait to welcome you to our casita in WY. Con Carino, Ellen and Jim P.S. We loved meeting Oksana. She was very helpful and such a gentle spirit.

Cinco Estrellas is beautiful and charming. We came to Alpine with the intent to explore the region but found ourselves not wanting to leave this perfect little house. Every detail has been considered and every renovation done perfectly. Couldn't ask for a more charming place to stay! And the back porch served as a great location to propose to my girlfriend! Thanks so much.

Dear Kathy and Lionel, Here is a review of "Cinco" from our 4 year olds perspective. "Mom, I love these beautiful chairs!" (dining room). "Mom, there's a windmill in the backyard!". "Dad... I love this house!" (As he was falling asleep). "Look at these beautiful pillows!" Which he promptly turned into a house for his little stuffed animals. Thank you for fitting us in in such a short notice. Looking forward to exploring today and coming back another time!

What a delightful cottage to spend a week in West Texas! It was a wonderful way to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary - we are only to sad to have to cut the week short because of problems at home. But we will return! Oksana was terrific. It was a joy to meet her and to appreciate our welcome.

We thoroughly enjoyed our one-week stay at Cinco Estrellas. Each room is so warm and inviting and featured so many beautiful pieces of artwork. We were very impressed by how the house is so beautiful and well-maintained both inside and out (great yard). The large, delicious platter of fruit and the drinks provided were a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed watching many of the western movies that are available to guests and through them gained a better appreciation of the history of Alpine and surrounding areas. Our grandchildren (KK, Sami, & JJ) (who recently moved to Alpine) visited with us and when they walked in they said "WOW", they just loved all of the beautiful colors. Thanks for everything. We will be back! (Harry & Wilma)

I am a writer. I came here to rest and to write, and the house was immaculate, peaceful, comfortable, and beautiful. This truly is a refuge for the spirit. Attention to detail and exquisite calm. A harmony of colors, scents, textures. Everything designed to elicit a state of well-being; just what you need when you're trying to be creative. I also liked that I was in a neighborhood and felt safe and at home, but I could walk downtown if I wanted to. I would recommend this house if you wanted calm and quiet and contemplation, but also if you wanted company and cooking, bec of the beautiful kitchen and garden. Since I don't cook, I walked to meals just around the block. Sometimes we drove to nearby Marfa or Ft. Davis, but I liked sticking around. The cottage is a jewel box of art and textiles, good energy, and exquisite design. I didn't want to leave, I just wanted to write, and that's the highest testament an artist can give any house. P.S. Did I mention it was as clean as a convent?

As I was heading 400 miles west from Austin to stay in this "adobe cottage" to finish writing a book, I had no idea what a spectacular five star find Cinco Estrelllas would be, FAR exceeding my expectations for what was available in this region. My 2-week stay in this lovely art-filled house was a beautiful, luxurious, comfortable, and completely unique West Texas experience.... more like one would expect for far greater sums in Taos, Sonoma, San Miguel or Marfa. I have been to Cibolo Creek Ranch and the Gage-- both amazing places-- but this exquisite eco-friendly gem was more inspiring, welcoming (and affordable) for guests. Every amenity was provided, from the lovely linens, soaps and robes to the tucked away flatscreen (with great regional DVD titles), a fully stocked Sonoma style kitchen (complete with elegant dishes and a Vulcan stove), a full diningroom table and one of the best beds I've ever slept in. The morning sunrises and stargazing from the back porch were amazing, and I was delighted to find even new Townie bicycles to ride... excellent restaurants, interesting shops and a good grocery store are very close by, and there's little need for a car-- although Alpine, is only 25 miles in any direction from any of the regional highlights. But perhaps the biggest surprise of this stay was the marvelous house manager, Oksana, who prepared the house beautifully, and quickly took care of any tiny need or question that I had. Let's just put this under the heading of "gushing review" because the biggest thing Cinco Estrellas provided was the pefect setting for an artistic endeavor... or romantic encounter (that's another story): the happy ending to this "stay-cation" is that the book got written and this former Manhattanite came back from a memorable journey telling everyone how lucky it was that Cinco Estrellas was my home Out Yonder... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

My husband and I visited Alpine this past November during the Art Walk weekend. The town was alive with activities, and galleries and shops were open extended hours. It was a real treat to get to meet so many locals during our stay, but most wonderful of all were our fantastic accommodations at Cinco Estrellas. The house is perfectly situated just a few streets away from the main thoroughfare, but close enough to walk everywhere and get a real taste of Alpine's life and culture. The beautiful and understated elegance of the decor lets you relax and feel pampered all at the same time. The kitchen and dining areas are perfect for preparing a meal at home, and the comfortable chairs and sofa made perfect sense after a long day of walking and sightseeing. We hope to visit Alpine again. When we do, our first choice would be to be able to stay at Cinco Estrellas again!

Dates of stay: September 25-27 You will fall in love with this cottage! Its owners have an flair for design and you’ll wish you could stay for longer than you’d originally planned. More importantly, the owners have gone out of their way to make sure you’ll feel welcome. Comfy robes and fresh fruit are there when you arrive, the color palette makes the West Texas light inviting at any time of day, and the original artwork throughout tells you that you are among friends, not a guest at a hotel.
