We have been privately renting our Maui home since 2002, and we have had nothing but happy guests. Unfortunately, I'm a crazy busy gal, and I just can't seem to find the time to transfer all of our “paper guestbook” comments to an online guestbook. But we have LOTS of references if you want them. :-) We have actually had a lot of guests return EVERY SINGLE YEAR since we first bought our home in 2002.
The Kuleana Resort is located in North Kaanapali, at Honokowai, about midway between Kaanapali and Kapalua. Our home is a perfect retreat for overworked COUPLES needing to RELAX and reconnect, and a heavenly haven for HONEYMOONER's.
Kuleana 713 sits about 15-20 feet from a small cove and the ocean‘s edge, with a small secluded beach directly below our unit .
You’ll wake to rainbows on the horizon, and find sea turtles feeding below our balcony. But just a word of warning.
Be very, very careful out there. Once you go out on our balcony, you may just lose half of your day!
Without a doubt, the most common comment we find in our guestbook is:
“We planned to do a lot more during our visit - but we just loved staying here ‘at home’ on your balcony!” SERIOUSLY.
You’ll find that our Island home truly is a 'home away from home' - and we have everything you’ll need for a wonderful stay.
Our cute bamboo style kitchen has upgraded appliances, including smooth-top range, and all possible necessities for making a hearty breakfast, lunch for the road,
and gourmet dinners by the water‘s edge.
I worked for a major airline for 22 years, and have been fortunate to have traveled the globe - so take it from a "vacation pro" ....
There’s nothing quite as fun as grilling "surf and turf" by the ocean's edge at sunset, and eating dinner to the sound of waves crashing, and the glow of the Tiki torches below.
This is JUST THE BEST! :-)

Our bedroom and bath are a fun, comfortable mix of Island furnishings and elegant details.
Artist signed prints, and even a hula girl lamp! You may just have TOO much fun in there. (ha)
Outside our home, the grounds of the property are manicured to absolute perfection.
You'll be surrounded by lush greenery and tropical flowers at your every turn. The smell of plumeria’s fill the air, and tiki torches are lit at sunset.

We looked at a zillion condos before finding Kuleana 713 in 2002.
You know how when you just walk into a place and it feels like home?
This unit grabbed both of our hearts immediately, and we just knew it was the one.
(kind of like falling in love)
We wrote a contract within an hour of seeing it ~ on our last day of vacation!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
This property is a wonderful, relaxing place. We sit for HOURS on the balcony and watch the sea turtles playing below us. When the surf's up - we have surfers riding wave out front. When it's calm, we have outrigger canoes passing by. In the winter, you'll have a FANTASTIC seat for whale watching ... and sometimes they come really really close! We have seen pods of 7-10 whales passing by .. just where the water changes color out front. If you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing Maui - you cannot beat our little Maui home. :)
We're also close to restaurants, shopping and dining.
There's everything from high-end spots like "Roy's" and fast food, like McDonald's.
Several groceries close by, and a Farmer's Market down the street 3 days a week.
The TIMES MARKET is a major Hawaiian grocery chain. It's the anchor of this shopping center. You'll also find fast food - Ice cream - Shopping - Coffee Shop - Video rental - Dive shop - LOTS and LOTS

What an exciting trip!! My wife, daughter, and self all enjoyed our stay tremendously. Eating breakfast on the lanai while watching turtles in the ocean; wonderful views of surfers, kayakers, and beautiful sunsets---even a double rainbow !!!! All the ameneties of home; close to all shopping, golf, and activities--just perfect. Yet the quietness, and laid back ALOHA attitude was the best part. MAHALO Lynn and Winston for sharing a part of your Hawaiian paradise. We would definitely recommend your hospitality and kindness to all our friends.

Lynn and Winston have lured us back once again with their thoughtful island hospitality to this uniquely wonderful little spot we love so much. The unit exudes the ultimate of island flair that is so unlike most others. It truly captures the essence of Maui. The view of the ocean only feet away from the lanai is captivating as whales are seen breaching in the distance, turtles swimming near the inlet beach below, the tiki torches lit each night create an ambiance that is tough to beat. Each time we travel there to Lynn and Winston's hale, we find we do less and less touring about as there is no better view anywhere else. Lynn and Winston have thought of every little detail to make it a perfect memory including the little umbrellas for the Mai Tai's! They go the extra mile to make their island retreat feel like you are truly experiencing the Hawaii of days gone by.

My husband and I just returned from 2 weeks in this lovely unit. All I can say is ,"Fantastic.". The unit is clean, cosy , and in such a perfect location. There is plenty of parking . The view from the large lanai is the BEST. Looking out the sliding glass doors is nothing but sun, surfers, palm trees, and plumeria. We sat and watched 4 sea turtles from our lanai every day. So much fun to see them outlined in the waves. The sunsets from the lanai and the on-site beach were a great way to end the day. The pool was nice and there was room around the pool to sit and sunbathe or read a good book. We didn't use the barbeques but there was a regular evening group that hang out for their dinner and sunset. Locally the beaches are terrific but with a car you can get out to see the islands other beaches and sites of interest. Not to be missed is Kapalua nature trail, starting at Kapalua beach. It is 1.5 miles in length and runs along the ocean. Quite the view, and if the wind is up the waves are huge, crashing over the rocky shoreline. Would recommend the sunset at the Haleakala crater, the Road to Hana (stay overnight in Hana), helicopter tour over Molokai, a stroll in Lahaina, a walk on the beach in Kaanapali, a trip or two to Pa'ai. If you want to spend a few $$$ , have a nice meal at Mama's Fish House ,right on the ocean. In Pa'ai be sure to go to Charley's for breakfast and to the Flatbread Company for the best pizzas and salads , even have take-out. The saturday morning swap meet in Kahului is something to take in , lots of crafts and fresh fruit and vegies. What can I say... this unit was the best choice for our retirement trip. Would like to return when the whales are in the local waters. Maybe next year??

This was our first trip to Maui. When we return (I hope sooner rather than later) we would want to stay in the exact same place. We traveled all over the island and were so happy to return to our condo. For our style there is not a better place to stay. We do not like the big resorts and prefer a place more intimate and quiet. It was so nice to just go a few steps to get to the ocean. We rented snorkels for the week and snorkeled right outside the condo. One of our favorite things we did was to buy $4 blow up floaties at the grocery store and just float out in the water for hours. We cooked dinner on the BBQ grills not far from the condo. They were very clean and you could watch the turtles while dinner is cooking. Our favorite place was sitting on the Lanai in the mornings sipping coffee. I can’t think of a better way to start the day. Like other reviews mentioned, the condo looks just like the pictures. It was very clean and cozy. We had everything we needed. The pool was very nice but we preferred being in the ocean instead. Winston and Lynn made the booking process very easy. They stayed in touch and even called to check in the day we arrived.

This review is long overdue! We stayed last August for a week at this wonderful, well-kept, romantic condo celebrating our wedding anniversary. And a week was not enough! We not only enjoyed the condo but also took great advantage of the pool and barbecues located on the property grounds, which are perfectly manicured. The location of the property is unbeatable; it is close to shops, restaurants and a great supermarket. My favourite room in the condo was, of course, the balcony. What a view! We spent every sunset possible there, relaxing and sipping drinks after a full day of activities. We are looking forward to staying at this condo again in the near future. Thank you Lynn and Winston!

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful condo with us. We have been to Maui twice before and have never had such a wonderful, relaxing time. We love not having to get dressed up to go out to dinner. Grilling was just perfect. Also we have traveled a lot and have never stayed anywhere that looks exactly like the pictures until we visited your condo. Your photos were exact. We love this place. We must or we wouldn't keep coming back! How great is it that the actual views & amenities are BETTER than the website pictures? The unit is well appointed, the kitchen is better equipped than my own at home, the beds comfy and the indoor and outside living spaces are decorated in fresh welcoming island style. The unit has a very private feel to it, which we really appreciate. The complex grounds are beautifully landscaped and well maintained. The pool is heated, big and deep and hardly ever busy and tho we're not big tennis players, we appreciated the option. Best of all, of course, is being ocean front. So nice to be able to snorkel and be beach bums right out front in such close proximity to home base. The views are mesmerizing. Coffee on the lanai often turned out to be a multiple hour morning marathon. It's so easy to get caught up watching the sea turtles feed below us and the whales breaching and fluke-slapping in the distance. Then there are the spectacular sunsets to be enjoyed nightly and if you're fortunate enough to be in Maui during a full moon the incredible sight of the moon low on the horizon between Lanai and Molokai turning the water deepest purple. Spectacular! And all from the comfort of your very own lanai. The owners, Winston & Lynn have been great to work with; right from the very first contact we had with them they made us feel welcome and like valued friends. They're down to earth, accommodating, helpful, funny and laid back... the kind of people you wish you had as neighbors! This is probably the best value in West Maui and we recommend it highly.

Sun, Snorkling, Relaxing - We Love This Condo!

My husband and I just love this condo - we are counting the days til we visit for the third time in October! The owners share a little piece of paradise with this sweet retreat. Their website description is realistic - when you look at photos and see the ocean at your feet, believe it! We spend hours on the lovely lanai, sitting and relaxing, while enjoying island views of Molokai and Lanai. We have enjoyed turtle and whale watching from the balcony, along with gorgeous rainbows and sunsets. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything you need, even a vase for the tropical flowers we bought at the local farmers’ market. Everything is super clean and fresh, and I’m kinda picky on details. The owners have always been very helpful and quick to answer questions. This condo is located an easy 30-mile drive from Kahului Airport. After a quick stop at Costco and WalMart to stock up, we drive down and get settled in. We love to snorkel and there are many sites to choose from, most of them a 5-15 minute drive from the condo. Honolua and Napili Bays, Coral Gardens and Airport Beach are favorites. We usually snorkel in the morning and pack a cooler with lunch and drinks to enjoy afterwards while lounging in our beach chairs. If you like to see flowers, make sure to visit Garden of Eden and Kula Botanical Gardens. There is also a great beach in front of this condo, and of course their own heated swimming pool! It’s always fun to use the super clean barbeques and grill something to eat on your own lanai. Our favorite restaurant is Honokowai Okazuya Deli, just about 5 minutes away. You order at the counter and take away delicious meals like fresh mahi sautéed with butter and capers. We recommend this condo to anyone who wants to enjoy the best that Maui has to offer. We prefer being in a smaller complex and enjoy the more intimate feel of a smaller resort such as this. We park almost at our front door and walk into our little piece of paradise!
