Elegant Home in Heart of Sonoma Valley

Stonetree is a beautiful home of over 4,000 square feet situated on 13 acres and oriented toward the magnificent outdoors of the Valley of the Moon. The exterior includes a huge grass lawn, swimming pool, spa, two outdoor grills, gazebo with eating area, terraces and porches, and lovely views of vineyards and the Mayacamas Mountains. The home has 4 bedrooms, each with en-suite bath, plus an additional “pool bath” and powder room. Three of the bedrooms have queen beds. One of the bedrooms is a multi-level children’s’ suite with triple bunk beds. The home is suitable for 6 adults and 3+ children, depending on age. The kitchen and house are fully equipped as a home, including a large library.
Stonetree is a home of understated elegance and fine design and fine lines, furnished with antiques, modern art and other classic elements. It is a true home, and doesn't have the appearance of the 'country rental' property. The home “flows” extremely well indoors and to the outside, with ten sets of French doors on the ground floor, plus two on the second floor providing exterior access and non-stop views. It is situated only a few minutes from downtown Glen Ellen (with its wonderful grocery) and many wineries. The semi-adventurous can walk directly to Jack London Park and nearby creeks. Stonetree is a wonderful place to be used as a home for family fun, relaxing and socializing, in any season. Parties may only be hosted by special arrangement and subject to limitations. No smoking is permitted in the home or on the grounds.

My family and I had the most amazing stay at Stonetree. Every room is bright and open. Stunning views of Sonoma and a wonderful outdoor area. I could not think of a better layout for a family gathering. Perfect space for meals as a family and then relaxing by the fireplace, as well as a great kitchen with another sitting area with huge windows and French doors everywhere. We cannot wait to return in the future.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We were so impressed with the layout of the home (each of the bedrooms are set apart from the others), so that we could have restful/quite sleep each evening. It was an adventure finding items in the pantry room, so well supplied. You never knew what wonderful item you would find next. Next time we plan to do more wine tasting in the local area. We only hit a few wineries: B.R. Cohn (Doobie Brother Fans - very nostalgic), VJB Cellars (the only thing good there was the ambiance, food and Gelato), and Chateau St. Jean (a long time favorite of the group). We had a great dinner at the Glen Ellen Inn (great food and reasonably priced), then we had a great surprise and too much fun at the Grist Mill Bar & Grill - the food was really good, really great price but most of all we were entertained by the whimsical Sparky one man band (we spent hours there singing and dancing in our chairs). Last but not least, Jim, the caretaker, is very colorful and helpful. He understood that we were motivated to get going each day for our wine tasting events.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+.

We spent three weeks here in August, and it was delightful. The house is lovely, the view is wonderful, and the pool was a great place to spend hours and hours. And the creek (hiking distance from the house) was fabulous. The owners were wonderful about helping us devise ways to childproof the home for our 18 month old son, and were responsive to all our questions and concerns. The kitchen (and 2 grills!) were perfect. It was a lovely, well equipped, fabulous place to spend a peaceful vacation!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

My family and I came here in late April to celebrate my mother's birthday and had an amazing time. The property is secluded with an amazing yard and outdoor facilities (patio, pool, spa, BBQ), and the house itself is extremely charming with a modern/open kitchen and vaulted ceilings. The owners are easy to work with and very responsive. We would definitely recommend!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

Several friends and I rented this property for a weekend in November 2009 to celebrate a special 40th birthday. What a spectacular place to host a birthday weekend! The location is secluded yet very close to many wineries and eateries. And the home itself has a warm elegance and perfect layout for group entertaining as well as personal space for relaxing. The owners were extremely gracious and accommodating. We hope to return again and stay longer!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
