This little unit is ideal for any couple looking for a short term rental in the Charleston area. My wife and I stopped by for a couple of nights on our way home from Boston to Orlando. We were able to park a big U-HAUL truck across the street while we were there. We kept it there and rented bikes for local transportation and that turned out to be a great idea. This unit is close to everything. You can get to all the great shops and restaurants within a 10-15 minute bike ride. The area is diverse but the neighborhood people are super friendly and the streets are safe even late at night. We recommend this unit to couples of all ages. Great value for the price and the property manager is great. The entire staff at 227 Rentals will make you feel at home.

Perfect stay and close to everything in downtown. The apartment has everything you might need, washer/dryer, full kitchen, etc. The location was close to lots of restaurants and activities. The apartment was very clean and cozy. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in downtown but be in a comfortable apartment setting!

Having Kevin's personal phone number in my pocket was our security blanket. He was available any time we had a question or need, and responded quickly. His recommendations were extremely helpful. The room was very clean and efficient. I loved the Brita pitcher in the fridge, and we enjoyed the hot tub and patio very much. Location away from downdown was actually centrally located for all activities. BE SURE TO HAVE GPS! Charleston's one way streets make it a nightmare to navigate. My only glitch was the shared parking situation, shifting positions with other tenants. At least we were NOT on the street and had security gate- VERY GOOD! Charleston is a BEAUTIFUL historic city!

Perfect get-away

After staying in hotels during numerous trips to Charleston over the years, my husband and I were delighted to discover Kevin's charming studio apartment when seaching for accommodations for a recent spontaneous get-away. This immaculate apartment is located within a few blocks of King Street and within walking distance of many restaurants (one block to Hominy Grill). It is a nice bicycle ride to the Battery or to Market Street. We particularly enjoyed the private courtyard with its fire pit and hot tub after a long day of exploring historic Charleston or relaxing on the beach just a 15-20 minute drive away. A unit air conditioner above the bed may be a distraction for light sleepers, but the queen bed itself is very comfortable. Kevin is a gracious host and goes out of his way to make one's stay pleasurable. If you prefer having the experience of "living" in a neighborhood in this historic city versus being a hotel guest, then I would highly recommend this property on your next visit to Charleston.

Simple accommodation in wonderful Charleston

Charleston is an amazing place, full of so much history, a must do is to stroll the streets of Charleston, you feel like you have stepped back in time. The apartment was good, just lacked a few elements, but otherwise a very comfortable stay, great pizza joint a short stroll away and a fantastic bakery right next door. Owner was very accommodating, went out and bought a crib for our baby to sleep in. Easy to walk to many restaurants.

We enjoyed staying in the little apartment. It is very tastefully decorated and very comfortable. It was a little further from downtown than we assumed from a few other reviews, but still within walking distance (I'm 5+ months pregnant so maybe it just seemed further because I had an extra load to carry :-)). But it is a very very short drive to everywhere, even out to other surrounding islands, with easy access back to 26 and to 17. Thanks! We enjoyed our stay!

Great Time in Chucktown

My wife and I really enjoyed our time in Charleston and the studio apartment we stayed in. It is very close to some great places to eat and with in walking distance to everything. If you do get tired of walking after a couple of days its only about $10 for a rickshaw ride which also is fun.Thanks so much for having us and we will definitely give you call on our next trip.

A great studio apartment. Well-maintained, top-notch facilities from the kitchen appliances to the comfortable bed. Roomy feel; well planned use of space. Kevin is a great host; was very helpful in orienting us to the area, and helped us with dinner reservations and local transportation. This apartment is very close to some fine eateries, and only a block from the "Dash" trolley which takes one to Charleston's visitor center and further to the market, battery and waterfront. Thanks again Kevin, for a wonderful Labor Day weekend in Charleston!

Different Unit, Same Good Experience

My husband and I were in town for a wedding and wanted to bring our dog along. The unit we booked (on Spring Street) was just what we needed. A nice space with full kitchen ammenities and easy parking - something hard to find in Charleston! We would certainly recommend this experience to others, it beats a hotel by a country mile.

New studio in the back of a garden. Well equipped. We stayed for a week with a 10month old baby. Loved the nearby beaches (20 min. To folley beach). Charleston is a great long destination - especially for foodies like myself and my wife.

Nice little one bedroom place that's convenient to downtown. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay and were very pleased with how close the apartment is located to everything. There's even a nice little bakery right outside the doorsteps. The apartment is very clean and has all the amenities you would need for a short stay. Although we didn't use it, the kitchen has everything you need to make some simple meals.

A Charleston gem

We found this apartment perfectly situated for visiting our son at the College of Charleston. Most days we just walked to the college for orientation activities (15 - 20 min walk) but the Carta DASH stop is just one block away and will take you downtown for $1.50. However, allow plenty of time if you use DASH because we found that it doesn't run on schedule. The apartment itself is impeccable with an astonishing use of limited space that is artfully and thoughtfully designed with welcoming touches. It is situated in a mixed-use neighborhood (primarily residential with some small business retail), vibrant with diversity, home to families and students. With parking at a premium in the downtown area, it was nice to be able to park and walk. One of the best restaurants that we ate at was the Hominy Grill, just one block away. We did make use of a restaurant guide provided to us in a welcoming packet at the apartment which was very helpful. In fact, with so many affordable options, we did not even make use of the well-stocked kitchen facilities in our apartment! We hope to be able to stay here (or at one of Kevin's other apartments) during our visits to CofC over the next 4 years. We found Kevin to be very responsive to our questions and readily available during our entire stay. After researching hotel options in the downtown area, we were delighted to find this type of accommodation so close to the college at a cost that we could only find comparable at least 8 miles away in either North Charleston or Mount Pleasant.

Great Place in Great Location

My husband and I really enjoyed spending 3 nights in this dowtown studio as it had all the amenities we needed (microwave, fridge, utensils, bowls, plates, cups, etc.), and was conveniently located near great restaurants and shops. Although everything could easily be walking distance, we took full advantage of the town's great trolley system. The Charleston Visitor Center is nearby (walking distance) so we bought ourselves 3 day trolley passes as well as stocked up on brochures and info to fill our weekend with lots of things to do. An added bonus was that the bed was especially comfortable. We felt very safe walkikng around the neighborhood during the day but not as confident walking around really late at night. Fortunately, the days were long and it didn't get dark until much later so there was only one day when we walked home really late - but would have felt safer if we decided to take a pedi-cab instead. Overall, it was a wonderfully relaxing and comfortable experience and we would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Charleston!

This unit is lovely -- private-- comfortable-- and a perfect base for touring Charleston, especially if on foot. Kevin is a great host, with wonderful advice. The bed was very comfortable and we loved having the computer available. I was as happy as could be but my husband is a light sleeper and the air conditioner noise made it hard for him to sleep. As long as you are not an extremely light sleeper, you'll love this unit. I highly recommend this unit with that slight warning.

This property was booked for the week we were going to be in Charleston (an anniversary trip before our first baby is born) -- so we stayed in one of Kevin's other rentals (a one room apartment). We loved it. Everything was neat and new... the bed was so comfortable. Since I'm expecting, it was so nice to have a comfy space to come back to when I needed a rest! We will stay in one of Kevin's rentals every time we return to Charleston (which we will, no doubt,because it was such a fun and interesting city!)!

Charming Carriage Home

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely Carriage House in Charleston. It is immaculate and has ALL of the comforts of home. I was so pleasantly suprised to have a washer and dryer in the unit AND a computer with internet access. The outside fire in the evenings were great for relaxing with a drink and other company. We were pleased at how close everything was (walking distance)! The Hominy Grill and Jestine's Kitchen are amazing! Check out a plantation while you are in town, take a carriage ride, and go to Fort Sumter. Kevin also offers GREAT suggestions of things to see and do.

Very enjoyable weekend ! The apartment afforded privacy and was an easy bike ride to downtown district. Our host was very gracious and accomodating. The bed was extremely comfortable, complete with thick down comforter and built in "white noise' from the AC unit. Although the apartment is only 1 room it is terrific. It is well laid out, modern, very clean and spacious. We especially appreciated the coffee and mini-bar available as well as laundry and internet. The location is superb. We left the car in the drive and walked and trollied it all over the historic district. There are 4 great restaurants - all different- right at the corner. The trolley stop is there as well. Only about a 15 minuite walk to the Visitors' Center. Kevin, the owner, was very helpful and is always available. We woulod recommend this place to friends, for sure.

We had a wonderful time in Charleston. We really enjoyed Kevin's newly done studio apartment. The bed was extremely comfortable, the appliances were updated and worked great. We stayed in and cooked 3 meals during our week stay. There was even a dishwasher! The location was good. It was a nice walk to King Street and Market. Austen and I definitely got our exercise. We didn't feel a need to drive in the city and parking on the street and in the driveway worked out well. I would highly recommend staying with Kevin. If we are to visit Charleston again, we'd stay with him.

Stayed here in mid November, for a 3 day weekend, with my college aged daughter. We had a fabulous time. The rental was immaculate and had all the amenities we could ask for; Kevin was very welcoming and a great host. We were 2-3 long blocks from Kings St. I would guess that it was approximately a 1.5 mile walk to Market St from our place going down Kings. We enjoy walking and found it unnecessary to utilize our automobile once we parked it. Restaurants and shopping was all within walking distance and the weather was spectacular. We loved our stay and hope to return at some point in the not to distant future.

Recommended. Clean, comfortable and convenient. Located within a block of four highly-rated restaurants and a quick walk from most of the historic district (about 3500 feet from Marion Square Park, at the corner of Calhoun and King, for instance). Off-street parking, with just enough room to turn around rather than back out into the street, is included in the rent. All-new appliances (stove, fridge, microwave, washer/dryer, dishwasher, coffee maker). Very comfortable bed and pillows. No unexpected "extra" fees, and deposit was refunded promptly, one business day after we left. Owner was extremely accommodating, gave good directions, and helped make the stay pleasant.
