Great family home. Cozy, super comfortable and close to the lake, town and transportation. Everything you need and more. This was a last minute trip and I needed someplace to stay. Well worth it and I will be coming back with my family this summer as well as next winter.

We had a group of 11 people up here for a birthday weekend and it was perfect. Everyone loved the place (very "ski bungalow", but TONS of beds without feeling too cramped), and couldn't stop thanking me for finding it. Lana was very communicative the entire time we were there and made it very relaxing for us. I have no complaints. We got there easily - the place is in a great location - and everyone had an absolute blast. 10 minute drive or so to Northstar. Thank you, Lana for making our weekend.
Owner response:Thank you for the great review........You are welcome anytime to vacation at our home!

We have stayed many times in this cabin, which it is a great value for the money spent. The accomodations were right on as seen in the pictures. The view was spectacular and only minutes from the Lake, skiing, and many local attractions & restaurants. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for value in money spent along with R&R. We especially liked the quite quaint neighborhood and surrounding large pines, and pinecones ( which we do not see here on the East Coast). The rooms are spacious and the jacuzzi is wonderful. Great yard for kids as well ! Enjoy !
Owner response:Thank you! You are always welcome..........Lana Tipton

I've been to this cabin in the winter many years ago, but this time we went in August and again had a wonderful time. The place is very clean and has lots of character. It was a different trip than the winter, but it was great to fish, hike, sight see, and just relax. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves the outdoors and fresh air.

The description of the house was NOT ACCURATE the house is a 3 bedroom with a loft, not 5 bedrooms as indicated. Owner has added a room on the far end of the house (we dubbed the barracks) the two bedroom add-on has a door you must walk through one room to get into the other (4 beds in one and 4 beds in the other). Adding 8 extra beds in a house does not mean the original part of the house can accommodate all the extra people. These rooms are basically one long room separated by a door in the middle, you must walk through one so called bedroom to get into the other, NO PRIVACY, and a compromising situation with young adults in the so called dorm-bedrooms. Location is 7 houses plus a large parking lot to main highway and then directly across the road is a boat yard then the lake. There is no direct access to the beach/ lake for another 1 ½ blocks away down the main highway. The residence is however centrally located and does have a fenced in back yard which is good for pets. Want to take a shower? To access a shower or tub you had to go through a bed room. The living room can only accommodate 5 people sitting shoulder to shoulder and only 4 adults comfortably…The dining area sits 6 comfortably, eight people if you sit in front of bulky table legs and attempt to reach your food. The chipmunks in the wall and ceiling are very annoying every morning at 5 am. The owner was phoned repeatedly regarding the early morning gnawing sounds on the ceiling inside the attic. . The owner did have a neighbor come over to attempt to cover a few holes with wire, nothing more materialized. Dishwasher does not clean the dishes, plates in cupboard were dirty on arrival, (no appliance repairman ever showed up) we had to wash dishes by hand all week. The carpet at the front entry was deteriorating with the pile falling out when you walk on it, a hole in the carpet on the stairs. Carpets were white at one time many years ago and now are tan and full of stains. Upon our arrival we had to unclog the vacuum that was filled with dirt & debris so we could vacuum. The silverware drawers had not been cleaned... Owner did have cleaners come by for a few hours after we questioned her; truly the cleaners needed to stay longer. Owner indicated it was safe for 11 and 12 year old to cross the street to the beach, but we did not agree that crossing the main highway where there was no crosswalk nearby was safe. We flew in and drove from various parts of the country for our family reun
Owner response:The guest, HAH, who stayed at our home for the week of July 25, was not accurate in the description of our home! Our home is 5 bedrooms (the upstairs is not considered a loft-it is a enclosed area) . We converted a garage with permits over 20 years ago and did not add a room. I state 7 houses to the lake in my add, which is correct. The master bedroom has a master bath which is connected with a shower and tub. One of the guest bedrooms has a shower only. There is a separate toilet and sink off of the living room. The living room and dining room are one large room. There are several chairs to take care of large groups. The chipmunks, birds, and squirrels are everywhere in Tahoe. There is no evidence, and never has been, of any critters in the walls or the attic! These areas were checked over and over when these guests were there. They do run up and down the roof! I was unable to schedule a repair man to fix the dishwater during their stay. There was no evidence of dirty dishes in the cupboard when the housekeeper went to the house to check. The carpet is old and by the front entry, it was in tact. We have never been able to find the hole in the stairs. There are 2 small stains (one in master bedroom and one in a dorm bedroom) that will not come out. The silverware drawers were cleaned one week before their arrival. The guests called daily with issues! I sent the housekeeper there 5 times in a week and the handyman was their 5 times as well. They wanted a full refund! We have rented our home off and on for 24 years and this is the first complaint we have ever had! Our home of 34 years is a rustic old Tahoe home which we have upgrated many times. I apologized to the guests many times and I am sorry our home was not what they expected! I will be happy to answer any questions for you and provide the names and numbers of many people who went into the house to check on the conditions during their stay. Thank you for listening!

I have stayed at the TiptonCabin for many years- summer and winter and have always loved it. The place is perfect for a large group and have gone up with a couple of families before. The spa is great, the beds are comfy, the fireplace is awesome! Sure its older-this is not the Four Seasons- nor does the owner claim it to be. Its a perfect place to gather with friends and family and feel like your at "home". I never have worried about the cleanliness of the place either. It always has been clean and ready for us to stay. The photos are accurate and show exactly what you are getting. It is located in the perfect spot- close to the lake ( we always walk) and close to a few of the best ski resorts. We will continue to rent this awesome family owned cabin and make wonderful memories with my children! Thanks Lana and Don!

Spending Spring break skiing in Tahoe in 2009 was fantastic. The cabin was great and easy lodging for all 12 adults and kids. We had a wonderful time in front of the fabulous fireplace, cooking in the kitchen and jumping in the hot-tub after a long day of skiing. The cabin is cozy and effecient and is conveniently located close to the lake, shopping and the best slopes. We can't wait to return this year again. An absolute favorite..

My wife and two daughters 8 and 10 years old had a great time in August. We spent our time during the day on the lake fishing and swimming and winding down in the evenings in the jacuzzi. The location allows many restaurant options or you can stay at the cabin and barbeque. The cabin has all the amentities of home. We highly recommend staying at this cabin for the quality and location.

My family and I stayed in the Tiptons' cabin over the Thanksgiving weekend this year. We had a WONDERFUL time. There were 8 adults and 3 children, and more than enough room for all of us. When we arrived, there was a wonderful welcome basket with all of the Winter goodies we could want (hot chocolate, snacks, etc). The place was fully stocked with everything we could need, from towels for all, to evey kitchen dish you'd need. Lana, the owner, even called us at the cabin personally to make sure we were doing ok. She has also been available for my questions about details, both pre- and post-stay. I would abolutely stay here again. Thank you!

Our large group (12 people ranging from 89 to 3 yrs of age) stayed at this cabin for a long weekend. We had beds left over. The young and old enjoyed themselves at the cabin and the beach. The cabin is charmly decorated-even more than the pictures show. The owners spent a lot of time and money into getting their cabin just right. We had such a good time, I could have stayed there all year!

We stayed at TahoeTips' cabin when my daughter was in a lighter phase of her Leukemia treatment. We had a wonderful time hiking, hanging out at the beach and soaking in the hot tub. The house was immaculate with all the ammenities necessary to make our stay cozy and enjoyable. My daughters were begging to come back to "the cabin" before our trip was over.
