Our historic home was designed by R. Requa as his last "Coronado Castle" (1915 start thru 1929 finish-- then, it had ocean front views to Pt. Loma). Originally 9000 sq. ft., the home was sectioned into 3 houses in 1975. The 2 next door ( smaller) and the Main House ( ours) is 5,300 sq. Ft. on two levels. It is here that we raised our family and now we are "empty nesters".
Warm and elegant mahogany floors & doors pair well with decorative oak accents. The carved Italian marble fireplace in the living room warms the bright decor as the baby grand piano fills the air with harmonies. Our last renter wrote," The house lives and breathes history- it really does. Moving from the outside beauty & fragrances of the yard and gardens, then, stepping into the house was a constant delight. It simply enfolds one."
Our location to the beach is 1.5 blocks and we have chairs, umbrellas, coolers, and all the buckets, shovels and formers for children to make grand sand castles. Several bicycles are included. The fantastic weather is why people visit Coronado and most say, " I sure would like to visit more often. It's grand here".
The master suite ( king bed) is 15' x 30' with a separate dressing room, bathroom. All 5 bedrooms are on the second floor and have full adjacent bathrooms. The guest room has a king bed with the rest are twin beds. Additional beds can be set up in the exercise room.
The home is very private inside and the massive plaster walls keep the inside temperatures very pleasant, both day and night. Entertaining in the formal dining room can seat up to 12 people and 8 to 10 is very comfortable. The doors to the patio from the dining room open to a garden view.
Cleaning/maid services can be arranged for weekly, daily , depending on your needs. There are excellent local chefs that would welcome the opportunity to create culinary delights for you or bring your favorite meals from the local restaurants.

Why the Owner Chose Coronado
We purchased this home after living in Coronado and raising our family here. The home is 5,300 sq. ft. and a feeling of grandeur, privacy from neighbors, and large open rooms like this home presents are rarely found in Coronado. The mahogany and oak woodwork in the home shed a warmth and feeling of security in a world that is often too "plastic".
The Unique Benefits at this House
We enjoy cooking on our imported French stove and our herb garden will be available for your dining creations. When you wake and look at the spacious master bedroom surrounding you, you will think, " I'm glad that I am not in a hotel... this feels good here and I am comfortable". The patio is a great place to relax with a glass of wine and watch the hummingbirds zip around after a day at the beach.

I am a dentist in Coronado. Joy is a CPA accountant. This is our home and we have rented it during the summer over the last 10 years and travelled with our children. We are now "empty nesters" with a regular "travel habit". We open our home to others to enjoy a lovingly maintained historic home in wonderful Coronado.
