Lovely spacious rooftop penthouse located on the main boulevard on the north side of town in the city's oldest upscale neighborhood, Campestre. The Club Campestre is across the street. Private covered parking for your car, or catch a bus that runs in front of the building to go downtown in 10 minutes or across the street to the beach at Progreso (30 minutes). Within short walking distance: Superama (Wal-Mart grocery store), 7-11 convenience, 24 hour pharmacy, restaurants, bars, stationery store, and more. Longer walking distance to the north: Burger King, Chili's, Home Depot, Sam's Club, Sears, MacDonald's, and a mall.
Downtown ("Centro") offers wonderful concerts at the restored colonial theatre "Peon Contreras" for a nominal admission and numerous public cultural events at the "Olimpo". We recently saw the Faberge jewel collection and an exhibit of drawings by Goya. The murals in the government buildings are impressive. Sundays on the plaza mayor are the scene of music, dance, and the sale of handicrafts and food. Every Saturday evening there is night of music and dance entertainment "Noche Mexicana" outdoors on Paseo Montejo. Just strolling down Paseo Montejo, the main boulevard, on the tree-lined sidewalks alongside the historic mansions, is a delight...or you can take a horse and buggy ride around the downtown area.
Uptown offers a modern mall "Galerias Merida" with an ice skating rink and department stores, as well as theatres.
Heading north en route to Progreso and the coast are the ruins of Dzbilchaltun, which are well worth a visit.

My husband and I enjoy sitting on the terrace overlooking the main boulevard and watching the city come to life in the mornings. It is also a lovely place to watch the sunset each day and enjoy the full moon over the rooftops.
Why the Owner Chose Merida
Merida is an interesting, vibrant city with many cultural activities. Many events are free, others charge a nominal fee, such as the symphony concerts. The people are pleasant, honest, and family oriented. Merida is a city of contrasts: the colonial "centro" downtown, and ultra modern malls with ice skating rink and luxury movie theatres.
The Unique Benefits of this Condo
The apartment is located within walking distance of an upscale supermarket, restaurants, convenience store, pharmacy, and is on the bus route. Progreso beaches are 30 minutes to the north, and there are Mayan ruins enroute. Located across from the Club Campestre, the apartment offers a safe, private "treetop" terrace for relaxing. Also TV Cable and internet access, washer, A/C.

Thank you for the use of your apartment. The overall size was a complete surprise! It was a perfect location for all of our day trips. The bus information was perfect and well put into practice. We would certainly stay here again!

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely condo with us. We were pleasantly surprised by the large size and beautiful decor. We especially enjoyed the patio in the mornings and evenings. We were very impressed with the friendly and helpful people throughout the Yucatan. We recommend that visitors consider: A day trip to Chichen-[ go early, Uxmal (our favorite less tourist ) and the Puuc Region Progreso and Celestun beaches Izamal Street festival on the main plaza. We also rented bikes-get there early. Way too many good things to list on that wonderful vacation.
